Great subject I loved having your input on that And what you said about the 2018 POP series is so true 😂
Look to your right, look to your left. All those women are gay.
Oh $••• I need that Dr. Aphra! With that look she would make a great mechanic in my little Shadowrun world
Her buck is used for Jaina Solo and Mara Jade too so lot of custom fodder there
There are some strong Jello opinions in this comment section, geez
Hot button topic
"If you somehow don't know what Jurassic Park is..." 😂😂 Thank you, very much, as always.
Sometimes people are like I knew nothing about this OLD franchise for OLD people and I take that personally.
Pfft, Lime Jelly (jello) is the greatest of all the jelly flavours, the perfect balance of fresh and sweet. As for Lex, I mean she knows UNIX, that and her questionable early 90s fashion sense has to count for something right?
So much character enriching just from questionable life choices.
Honestly, there's a whole bunch of one-episode women in the He-Man cartoon who, even now, don't get toys in modern lines, that could probably be a video unto itself.
I've certainly thought about it. Back in Classics when polls were run, lots and LOTS of one-off characters, many women, consistently popped up.
Ironically, when I started picking up action figures again in the mid-1990s thanks to POTF2, one of the reasons I stayed away from Jurassic Park figures was the lack of Lexi. Kenner could've even tried a girls line with her and probably done OK -- the movie itself was pretty gender neutral in it's appeal.
Absolutely. There were both well-put-together and totally clueless men and women all over that franchise, from what I remember.
@ yeah like EVERYone loves dinosaurs. Come on y'all
When Hasbro designer David McDonald designed the Earth Corps quartet, he envisaged Liquidator as a woman. That got ixnayed pretty quick. The suit was the same, only the head-under-helmet sketch he attached was torn off.
That explains them juicy hips!
Great video. I have seen only a couple of yours, but enjoying your delivery and the subject matter. Your whole channel/premise has so much potential. I believe you should have thousands more views and subscribers. Here's to hoping you continue with success.
Praise from GenXCaesar! I'm probably a terrible self-promoter so just hope the algorithm algorithms.
@@gaytiestoys lol. Hi, and is that Caesar about my hair (what's left of it?). That was sweet. It took me forever to get monetized....but all it took was putting SEX in the title of a video, lol. Well, i think you are doing great.
To be fair, if you’ve survived an attack from what should be giant, extinct creatures, Jello is probably easy on what is sure to be a stomach in knots! That said…green? Red all day, Lex!
I'm a purple fellow but we're quibbling over the taste of someone who clearly got dressed in the dark.
When I was sick as a child, especially with sore throat, my mom would give me the Jello just as it dissolved in the hot water. It was the best thing ever and always, always red. For cold, fully prepared Jello you want green. This is the hill (of Jello) on which I will die.
Weird. UA-cam ate my reply; I assume because I said "a hill on which I shall ___" There is no appeasing the beast.
It's really no joke about the disappointment of incomplete world building. Just the other day I made a comment to RetroBlasting about how I still mourn never getting pink dress Allura, Coran, or Nanny for my Voltron castle. I get why the toy makers thought kids wouldn't be interested in figures like that, but they were wrong. 1.) Kids want the complete world. 2.) Girls and gay boys played with Voltron too and would have enjoyed having the beautiful princess and her nursemaid. (Oh, and the Space Mice too!)
Oh completely, wanted more denizens of the Castle. Same problem with Queen Marlena or Spike and Sparkplug. Not exciting toys necessarily but important to the wider world.
My Uncle Robert work for Mattel in the 80s, he was a toy designer I have the actual Three Star sisters the bubble carriage and the undeveloped third playset the whispering woods.
Oh no way! Are they painted or the prototypes? Never saw the Bubble Carriage beyond the art which I covered in my Joya video. Been hoping a 3D modeller would give the Whispering Woods a stab
@gaytiestoys will I have the original action figures in the packages that was supposed to release for the 1987 toy line. I also have the bubble carriage in the box and I have the whispering woods prototype. which is the actual playset where on top of the piece which has a spinning light, using the pink microphone which is the statue. it would be light hope interacting with She ra. it came with furnitures in the middle I had a staircase.
@@BXshqip87 Should show 'em off in a video!
This one inspired me to rearrange displays a bit and I'm back to comment for the algorithm. (Zarana is now with the Shadowrun figures, Evil Photocopy mail-away Earthworm Jim is with the cartoony-er Ninja Turtles, Classified Jinx is back with the Lotus Angel Warriors in my medieval fantasy stuff. Good times! Thank ya kindly!)
I actually just watched Toymanoid's collection tour and he had similar figures grouped together, regardless of brand I really liked it
@@gaytiestoys I'll check it out, thanks Edit: Oh, and, I'm pretty much out of Origins though Pantera and the priestess from Dragonore pique my curiosity. I'm all over that Teela-Cheetara and Battle CatMan from the upcoming MotU/Thundercats mashup too.
What Glory....bird can I meet YOU at?
Down by the Crystal Falls. A real dive.
I would personally like to see actual reproductions of the original prototypes as an exclusive.
Oh totally. And then repaint her into a Granita. Boom.
Ha! Yes, I agree…“Woof!“. ;)
Bork
Mattel needs to crank out more females. These girls too. Give us another 3pk and make it Mattel Creations or whatever it takes. And Glory... Bird. Even just saying Glory Bird makes me giggle too 😅😝
Yeah they have a lot of catching up to do and this is the year to do it
I'd always wondered if these characters were originally meant to be of a type with Zodac, neutral(ish) cosmic judges. I'm not as up on my She-Ra lore as I coulda-woulda-shoulda. Thank you; this is a very cool episode! I'm also now going to start figuring out how to custom make an action figure with bendy straw segments. (Paint and primer is not going to be an option so after I dope out the mechanics I'll have to order the proper-colored straws. Machine Man might be a good first figure to experiment with...)
Bendy straws blew my MIND when I was a kid so when I saw Tallstar would use that cutting edge technology to grow I was like "Instant fave, the rest of you hos can go home."
😂😂😂@@gaytiestoys
I remember this show. It aired so early in the morning, and it was always a crap shoot which of the Comic Strip shows you were going to get next, if I remember correctly. Given the past history of including female characters from ThunderCats and SilverHawks I was surprised back in the day that they didn't make them too. Now I finally know why.
Yeah they seemed a sure bet since the other lines didn't shy away from them but alas, no head flippy action for a woman with a giant octopus for a head.
I'd love to get these in either Masterverse or the Cartoon line, but considering how many higher profile characters there are to go yet, I am not hopeful. Mattel had hinted at doing something big for She-Ra's anniversary this year (I thought maybe an origins Crystal Castle playset to go along with the Cartoon figures) but so far I haven't seen any suggestions of what they might do.
I mean, the year is young, Toy Fair is around the corner, but even doing Bow, Glimmer, Angella, Castaspella... that's a lot of a lot just from the very first wave one so these gals are low on the priorities.
I want *all* the Star Sisters including the Siblings as figures. Origins need to give us some Star Sisters love. And like the kids say, "a bird in hand is worth a hole near the mouth." Or something like that.
Äs my grandmother used to say, a bird in the hole, oops, Chlamydia.
@ 6:40 HAAAAAHAHA! I have an affinity for the Seahawk character! I had the two parter on VHS as a kid and watched it repeatedly. Top-notch stuff!
BIRD
@@gaytiestoys The Glory Bird catches the "worm" lol
@@leodenverrex3819 HAH
@@gaytiestoys 😉
A bit off-topic, but do we know for sure it's Zo-ar and not Zorr? I always pronounced it the former way, but lately I've heard the latter a lot, to rhyme with Soar. What do I know, all I had was Screeech...
I had neither because I was like that bird is WAY too big to be the one from the cartoon where I THINK they said Zoh-ar but that could be a memory hole
@@gaytiestoys Bird hole
She-Ra’s 40th anniversary is going to go by with Mattel barely even acknowledging it. It would have been so cool to see repro or origins style figures of these sisters for fans.
Agreed. A Catra and Frosta alone a 40th anniversary do not make.
According to Toy Habits there are future waves of POP planned with Bow and Shadow Weaver coming up soon.
@@MrHootiedean yeah lots of characters' copyrights are renewed and they're thrown on packaging but I had heard of Bow and Shadow Weaver who are good bets to be made next
Not thrilled that the Gargoyles line just seems to have ended, but nice collection
Yeah it seemed to be truckin along well, although closed wings were being held hostage the whole time. Then it just quietly ended without Hudson's. Kinda butthurt about it.
Oh, i see! Hide the "good stuff" behind a pay wall, huh? So how much do you charge to remove that black bar? 20, 30, 40 million? lol
Oh if I ever get a Patreon, watch out y'all
Dude! That intro was great hahaahaa 🤣🤣🤣 I have bean a HUGE Star Wars fan since 1996 when they started releasing the Remastered Trilogy. Until then all my 80s-baby butt knew about SW was the two Ewoks movies (shudder) and that scene from Muppet Babies lol. I also saw the Tiny Toons epsd where they spoofed it and i was fekin' clewless! My interest in Star Wars was actually first sparked by the Micro Machine ship figurines. Then Action Fleet came-out! I was officially a fan. In fact 1996 may be considered the 1st year of SW obsession for me because i had discovered the OG trilogy, owned the toys, and playing the SNES game. However... this li'l spin-off was something I didn't know about until the days of the internet in 2002.
God I loved Micro Machines. A few years ago spent WAY too much money building a little Rebel Fleet and Star Destroyers
@gaytiestoys Wow, that sounds epic! I only had one Star Destroyer but also had the Super Destroyer Executor.
@@leodenverrex3819 yeah scaling is a bit off.... my blockade runner is bigger than the Super Star Destroyer. IMAGINATION
Thank you! :)
Omg omg omg
Muchly requested
I adored Melodia and especially Poker Face. Never made figures of either. 😔 BTW did anyone else find Bluegrass hella fine? I loved that he had a metal mohawk under his hat.
Oh Bluegrass is the Shipwreck of SilverHawks. Douchebag Dreamboat.
Mark Hamill is so cute and was such a babe, but they really did him dirty with how they double caked him.
He was unrecognizable
Lolololol your spoken Wookie is excellent, no accent at all! 🤣
Oh man, Niko turned me straight! No offense to Teela and Cheetara, both of whose figures I had, but Niko had this Judy Garland-in-Meet Me in St. Louis look that I was obsessed with at 9. And the show was great too. Also, great stealth marketing for kiwis!
It's the harsh bangs
🎶 oooh, you’ve got a tiger by the tail, hold oooooon Tiger Sharks 🎺 TIGER SHARKS 🎺 🎶
Such a departure from the breathy, horny themes from the other two
4:10 & 5:30 WTF! These character designs are excellent! These figures NEED to exist!!
There's no love lost between me and TigerSharks but I will admit, great designs
WOW... i have no idea what this is haha. Congratzz deud, I'm a serious Toon Head but this one is new to me. 🤷♂️
I love a deep cut
@gaytiestoys Except when they hit an artery lol
Well i NEVER! Sailor Mercury has bean my "B" since 1999! Actually i dont play Scout Faves, but i really dont like Mars very much hehe!
Mars: the Veronica Lodge of the group
@gaytiestoys OMG YESSSSS!!! xD
@gaytiestoys I used to read tons of Archie lol
@ 7:20 Oh myyy...
I suggest nothing...
@gaytiestoys That's perfect, because I'm not open to suggestion. lol 🤪
We got cheated out of several Octopus women in the 1980s. Octavia and Octop*ssy both come to mind. Octop*ssy didn't even get a proper theme song by Shirley Bassey "Goldfinger" style.
I come for the discussion, I stay for the Tigersharks fandom shade 😂
Sometimes... I just ain't feeling it. HaHa!
I have no memory of Tigersharks, but sharp memories of Karate Kat for some reason. I guess I should be asking for Chow Baby and Meow Baby missing 80s toys? But I think that zero people have the nostalgia for Karate Kat that would cause them to actually pay for KK toys 😂
For so many EPIC animation blocks like the Jem/Inhumanoids/Robotix block this one fell between the cracks.
I also had one epsd of this show recorded on VHS. It's the one where Feral feels inferior and unworthy of being a Knight so leaves and Leorik has to rescue him from the Darklings. I watched it often along with Voltron in early 90s. I wasn't wild about the concept of mish-mashed Medieval & SciFi themes but now i freakin' LUV-IT!!! I have since seen two more episodes and plan to watch all of it one day.
Oh! I also had one Action Figure in 1992 i got from a garage sale Toy Haul. At the time i dont remember which one it was but i think Leorik.
@@leodenverrex3819 I for one don't support crime buuuuuuuut the whole series is here on UA-cam and I love it and recommend it highly.
@gaytiestoys Well i support Video Piracy as well as Bootleg Toys and Jaywalking so MYUUEEEGH!
Heck yea! = - D So glad you included this obscure show in yur Rankin/Bass Triumvirate! I myself had never heard of it prior to my Kidult yrs. Being a Pisces (if one can believe in such things) i freakin' LUV the water and especially Marine Biology so this show is definitely on my "to-watch" list! I like the Chtulhu girl and what she could possibly do with her tentacles lol. ; -)
Deud, this is such a coincidence! My favorite YT nostalgia show, Secret Toy Galaxy, has just dropped an exposé on this show and mentioned that Tula was conspicuously ommit from the Toyline. He didn't mention, however, that a commemorative set was also devoid of her in 2003. Thats Fuqd-up! Tula is actually my FAVE character because of her Ecomancer role. I absolutely DESPISED her at first because of her deception and assault of the good Capn Ren, but as her story unfolds i start to see a different light. She wasnt after selfish desires or worldly treasures, but to preserve LIFE itself. Surely the true definition of feminism. Im a Naturalist myself, and am constantly studying Biology & Zoology of Earth. She is voiced by Jody Benson, Disneys Ariel herself!
Oh I just watched that the other day. Was surprised Dan never got around to this so was happy I beat him to the punch. Funnily enough I just got the Wraith ship the day afterwars and he was correct: it's criminaly undersized.
My first rap song lol! 🎶 In the battle of the Aniverse you don't know what's NEXT! But you gotta know amphibians have made it COMPLEX! When you check-out the scanner and the evil that it bodes there's only one course of action! LETS CROAK US AUM TOADS! 🎶
Another great Space show! I watched this on VHS with my older cousin and he was mentioning being in-luv with Jenny and I'm like "Why" haha! I was to young to identify with that. I did notice how her demeanor was calm and smooth, but I didn't see sensual feminism, just more capable and confident.
There's a reason she was my very first outing although as a first video I'm too embarassed to go back and watch. Jenny was THE ultimate MIA 80s Lady for me as she was so close to coming out and I was (still am) obsessed with the whole Bucky O'Hare premise.
Showing off your custom twiggets spurred me to look for some trobbits from Blackstar. I just ordered some. :D Small lick of paint on one guy's head and completely display-worthy. So, thanks again!
Actually yeah they'd make great stand-ins
😂I don't not* love Toxie, just must've been doing other stuff around then! I have his ReAction Figure amongst my "non-Marvel & DC" 1/18 scale superheroes team (Zorro, the Phantom, Space Ghost...) I read some of the Bucky comics and can get behind your appreciation. Thank you!
Any comic with Michael Golden art is a must-read for me. Plus Bucky was surprisingly cynical and anti-capitalist, even back then.
You have a beautiful collection and wonderfully displayed. It's nice to see some of those obscure She-Ra characters get representation. I'm surprised you don't have Bow, though! I don't collect MOTU/She-Ra and considered getting Bow just because he's so dishy.
Oh right, I do have him; he's on his horse Arrow next to the Crystal Castle up top which I'll get to!
@@gaytiestoys Crystal Castle? Pangs of envy setting in....
@@TitularHeroine it ain't the Crystal Castle you're thinking of either. It's bigger, better.
@@gaytiestoys Pangs of intrigue setting in. 🤔
You should do a video on Filmation Ghostbusters Apparitia.
OH right she didn't get a figure, I keep confusing her for Mysteria!
@ pretty ground breaking that straight out of the gate they gave us 3 female characters. I loved this line❤️
