They were cute enough. Probably more successful than that first run of comics.
The 60s Teen Titans shorts were actually animated by Filmation.

It kills me how much Teen Titans played into the original pitch and how little it ended up showing in the final toy line. Hope you do a Supergirl episode!
Yeah Donna especially really seemed to be a contender. Alas, no. Although Supergirl certainly was so she's absolutely coming!

It does drive me mad that we're just not getting female characters in the Super Powers line. The original Super Powers line is my favourite toy line, and when it started again I thought, "cool I imagine we'll finally get Black Canary, Zatanna, Cheetah, Donna Troy, etc." But no, Todd is a joke, and the worst person to have the line, unfortunately.
Any lazy excuse someone tries to use about not making female characters just doesn't fly. They peg warm? Look at how many Batman figures peg warm.
The line should have been approached the same way the Justice League Unlimited toy line was. That line made everyone! A smart person would have used that toy line as a guide for which characters to make.
@@grimm_toys this. ALL of this. Every time I hear excuses or reasoning I completely spiral out. It wasn’t cool then, it’s unforgivable now.
Todd's comments are strange since his 90's stuff had quite a few female characters. The Spawn toy line was a big push towards modernizing action figure sulpting and mainstreaming toy collecting. And more than a few gruesome and provocative designs pushed the envelope on what was found on toy aisles.
Now he's a 60 year old curmudgeon.
HAH! I've spent way too much of my CPU wondering what happened to the guy who led the charge on making female figures but now is digging his heels in. GenX disguised as a Boomer.
Todd said that and then DC re-upped his license and gave hime more access, less restrictions. They will tell him he can't make guns for characters who use guns i the comics and media but they won't tell him he has to make women.
Grrr.
I knowwww, I don't understand that man's brain. And yet, Multiverse, Batman 66, BTAS... they're getting a bit more. But there's still this strange line in the sand for Super Powers.
@@gaytiestoys I think that has to do with keeping the Kenner figs as something unique.
That said...Todd MacFarlane could probably benefit from a Bat-embargo. We saw how much it benefited JLU by forcing showrunners to remember that it's the DCU, not the Batverse. I know that a lot of people feel embargoes are pointless, but Bat-restrictions are warranted at this point...like maybe say "A New Batman can only appear after you've made at least 100 Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman Family variants." This would allow for multiple Wonder Woman figures+ Hippolyta, Donna, Cassie, Artemis Grace, Yara, Antiope (formerly Phillipus), Io, Faruka, Nubia, Aresia (Helena K/GA Fury), Lyta, Steve, Etta, Robbie (in the costume he recently had in Wally's Flash run when Wally rescued him), Marvin White, Jason and Nemesis. That would actually be a good collection and give the lady her due.
Variants can be various costumes...as well as having Lynda Carter, Lyle Waggoner and Deborah Winger variants for Wonder Woman, Steve and Donna...also Gal Gadot and Chris Pine variants for Diana and Steve. Even make some of Diana's villain figs like Cheetah, Ares, Circe, Dr. Psycho, Giganta, Blue Snowman, Dr. Poison, Heracles (at least as far as Diana's concerned he's a villain, though Jason might disagree.), Renegade Amazons.
@@Chriskentfan94 god yes to ALL of these. Diana has almost as many Wonder Girls as Batman has Robins at this point but I'd love a deeper dive to build her world out too. At this stage, give us the Supergirl we were teased in wave five (more on her later), and may some of the big guns from the style guide.
@@gaytiestoys Sergeant Marvel (Mary *she's called Sergeant Marvel in Young Justice so that she doesn't spoil her secret identity) and an Aqualad (Garth) with Corresponding Tempest fig would be cool too.

From Funko's retro lines I have Batman '66's Yvonne Craig Batgirl and Julie Newmar Catwoman, by way of confirming that yes -- those figures were very, very good. I do have Infinite Heroes Starfire and Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark tho') and they scale perfectly with those and are *much* easier to find.
I'm actually glad you mentioned that McFarlane interview. I've heard reference to it but, frankly, didn't want to spend the time and energy hunting up who it was with or when.
Apparently his misogynistic ugliness contains specific instances against trans women too (because of course it does), and that is of, shall we say, particular interest to me. Like I need more reasons to scoff in that general direction...!
