Have I ever seen modern Star Wars movies? No. Did I just watch an almost 7 hours of Star Wars cutscenes + gameplay in one sitting? Yes. It's a masterpiece. And as always, a magnificent (and I bet very tiresome) work from @glp.
Respawn really killed it on the story in this one. I loved Fallen Order's story, and somehow ending loving this one even more. Thanks for watching on our channel brotha!
Now this is how you do a modern Star Wars story justice. Great writing, great character development, and great emotional drive. This is a sequel done right. It reintroduces familiar characters while adding more depth to them as well as giving us more characters to care about. This was an excellent story and I hope they continue to expand upon this along with great gameplay of course.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME: First and foremost, I’ll get the negative stuff out the way before I gush about this game. I played it on the PS5 (thank you EA for the free copy of game!) and it definitely needed more time for polish. I played it on performance mode, which even then would lag, stutter and occasionally screen tearing. I also had some cutscene glitches where characters would clip in and out, and would have to quit out the game and come back in hopes of the cutscene loading properly (it usually would). The framerate is inconsistent to the point of affecting combat timing. NOT unplayable by any means, but annoying. I’ve read and seen that the PC port is much worse, and I don’t doubt that. Even Jedi Fallen Order, 3 years later, is not a well optimized PC port. It runs fairly well now, but nowhere near the optimization of similar games. I don’t take what I said above lightly, that game polish is a big deal, and I can’t recommend buying it until it’s fixed. BUT, all that being said, everything else about this game is outstanding. I think Jedi Fallen Order did a wonderful job of being a sort of Souls-lite game, and Jedi Survivor takes that formula and amplifies as much as humanly possible. This game is better and bolder than the first game in every way imaginable. The worlds are bigger, the story is grander, the characters are more in-depth and nuanced, the combat is nearly-perfect for what they’re striving for. You feel both extremely powerful and vulnerable to any set of enemies in the game. It’s a fine tuned balance that is hard to nail down, and they’ve done it. I love the fact that you start with many of the powers you gained in the first game, and you don’t do a Metroid-Prime-lose-all-your-powers-at-the-beginning-of-the-game cliché. You start off a fully fledged Jedi, and you can grow your weapons and tactics to wonderful heights. The 5 fighting stances/weapons are a breath of fresh air. Each feels different with it’s own strengths and weaknesses. The dual wield, for example, offers faster speed than the standard single stance, but much less range and defense. The Crossguard stance on the other hand, is all power. Heavy blows that take a considerable time to execute. The tradeoffs make experimentation against different enemies fun and rewarding. The story has also seen an upgrade here as well. The scope and scale of it is much larger than Fallen Order, but at the end of the day, it’s still about the characters we’ve come to love and their struggles with loss, love, shame, anxiety and so much more. It balances the larger epic story with their personal trials perfectly. And it’s much darker than most of the recent Star Wars fare. Sometimes even brutal in its unrelenting pace. No one is safe in the Empire. My only complaint here is that it can drag on a bit in the middle, when it feels you’re off to do more fetch quests. “Go find this other thing that will give us all the answers!” But that’s really no different than 95% of video games. It’s hard to keep such a sharp and always-focused story in a 30 to 40 hour game. The side missions and characters vary from forgettable, to surprising, and extremely engaging. It’s a mixed bag, but more than anything, it works in adding tons of fun hours to the gameplay. Building up Koboh is a treat. Recruiting new salesman and residents is satisfying and will keep you playing even if a particular side mission doesn’t entice you. Koboh is enough of an open world to be a 10 to 15 hour game in itself. There’s tons of secrets to find, side missions, optional bosses, collectibles, vendors etc. This planet is what really separates this game from it’s predecessor. Jedha is also fairly large, which I would compare to the size of Kashykk from the Fallen Order, although with a much more open design. All in all, it’s a borderline masterpiece in my opinion. It’s an easy 9/10 in my book and if the technical issues were all ironed out, I can see myself giving it a 10/10. It took me 21 hours to beat the main story on Jedi Knight difficulty, with tons more to do. I didn’t dive too deeply into all the side missions, especially as I got closer to the end as I wanted to share the game movie on the channel asap. I can’t wait to dive back in, and once the issues are fixed on PC, I plan on attempting and Grandmaster run and seeing how great this came can truly be.
Seems likely that you are going to do some exploring - sidequest, optional bosses, etc and make another addendum video(s). Bode's expression just before he was shot said, "It's not fair!" Even in the end, he saw himself only as a victim who didn't get a break, willfully ignoring the fact that he himself was a murderer and traitor who led countless innocent people, possibly even children, to their deaths. Consumed and driven by his own suffering, Bode became insensitive to the suffering he caused to others.
@@rogerleung160 Trivial though it is not, its definitely not an excuse to get everyone else dead along the way. Darth Vader was more a slave than Bode ever was
They really left us ready for the third game with that cere moment. “Guide her through the darkness” and she said Trilla when Vader dealt the killing blow on her. Now I’m super excited
She said Cal and then Trilla, so both of her apprentices - it was just a "deathbed" type of thing to say, I guess she cared about two of them the most. In the end it's almost certainly about Kata, because they bring up the topic of growing up without family a lot close to the end of the game, so it's clear that it will be challenging for Kata as well, especially if she turns out to be force sensitive. Would be a poetic set-up for Cal to become a master in the third game (apprentice in the first, knight in the second).
I think she meant guide her through the pain that she’ll endure but don’t let it consume you because she will go through a heavy childhood and if she ends up being a padawan oh boy will she probably turn
Cal & Merrin's relationship has come a long way since Jedi Fallen Order. Even the old Order is gone, having emotional attachments like love is not a bad thing. Nor it will lead you to the path to the Dark Side. How we handle it and gained support by friends, family & loved ones is what any Jedi could’ve done. Luke should take an example from Cal and Kanan since Mara Jade is hinted in Return of the Jedi and was mentioned in TLJ novelization.
Read the EU books Luke had a wonderful romance and marriage to Mara Jade! Although I won't say they didn't make some mistakes there like bascially everything to do with Jacen... But overall many great EU stories!
Yeah, the Jedi doctrine is only partly right about attachments, (Specifically, the problem isn't having attachments, it's letting your fear of losing those you're attached to overwhelm you and lead your actions [Other problem is possessiveness]. Arguably the Jedi would do better to teach their students about healthy interpersonal relationships, but that's a whole other discussion in and of itself). That was what turned Anakin into Vader, that was what got Bode fucking over everyone in the name of protecting his daughter. Jolee Bindo said it way back in the Old Republic and he was absolutely right.
I agree. In dark times, having friends is wonderful. And he deserves happiness. I don't know if this'll make you feel better about why such bad people are framed as heroes, but it's fun for me to discuss. I don't think this game is making a jab at that rule. Hear me out. We have to be understanding and while fake, the media in so many ways is trying to make us believe self destructive things that help them. We need to be honest even when it hurts. We can benefit from it. and see the validity in and respect what Lucas wanted to show. The jedi did have community and comradery within the order. Cal is his own man making his own choices, and I like the way he chooses to lead his life. The point of the rule is to be stable, selfless, and able to prioritize, so *when* they become attached they aren't killing thousands to protect their feelings. If anything, Dagan, Bode, and Cal nearly killing that officer are proof the rule is a necessary guideline for such a scenario. If you need elaboration, I recommend a short 8 min video Should Jedi Marry by Thor Skywalker (among other longer videos) - ua-cam.com/video/c4lqMNjPJWo/v-deo.html ....and 9min video on Stoicism by The Jedi Journals - ua-cam.com/video/X16F3HzBz-U/v-deo.html
Nobody has discussed it at all, and I think it's incredibly important: protect Turgle at all costs. He's just a sweet frog guy doing his best and doesn't deserve to be bullied at all.
Wow ! This game can totally become game of the here. Million times better than the star wars movie trilogy. And Cal and Merrin, @2:19:29, our Jedi boy must be pretty well aware by now that his girlfriend can teleport. Yet he offers his hand for a camel back's ride. Chivalry is certainly not dead. 😅😅 thanks EA for listening to the fans who wanted Merrin in the sequel (loved her sharp humorous replies) and wanted them to be together, 😅
Like Kanan and Ezra, Cal and Cere definitely embodies type of Jedi who has learned from the mistakes of the previous Jedi Order, now matter how different or similar their line of thought is from the original order.
This is one of the few canon Star Wars stories that makes the empire actually look like a threat, I am looking at this and being grateful I don’t live in the Star Wars galaxy.
You just gotta love how every character flexes, from senators, to inquisitors all the way to Vader, this is something we didnt had good enough even in the vader comics as Inquisitors are often portrayed as jobbers.
Haven't even played the game, but watching some streams got me hooked on the story. This is yet another brilliant story told in the star wars universe. Thanks for putting this together and including the dialogue during fights and the game that adds so much to the cutscenes. Subscribed.
Who knew we would have this type of a Gem in Star Wars again. So many failures on the opposite end of Star Wars. I’m glad it stays true and genuine with the story, characters and mood. Truly hits all the Star Wars beats with love and it shows. I am extremely excited to see what’s next for Cal. The Dark Side looms ever closer to Cals greatest quest yet. Star Wars golden age finally maybe?!

At 6:21:24, what should be understood is that Tanalorr is similar to Exegol as both are hidden worlds that require a compass or a wayfinder to get there. Tanalorr is likely a nexus of the Light Side of the Force while Exegol is a nexus of the Dark Side of the Force. The other important thing is that orange-red lightsabers are used by Dark Jedi who turned to the Dark Side but not fully as they still have noble, selfless intentions at heart (ex. Bode wanting to protect his daughter and Degan wanting to create a Light-Side army to cleanse the Galaxy of the Dark Side). This would foreshadow Baylon Skoll and Shin Hati in the Ahsoka tv series as Dark Jedi with noble intentions at heart but are doing things the wrong way.
@@MrJakeros Anakin asked Baris Offee why she kept Ventress’ red lightsabers. Baris said they suit her. If Bode kept Dagan’s lightsaber, it is because the lightsaber suits him and his mentality.

Wow. What a masterpiece. Our boy Cal has grown up but he still has a LOT to learn. I wonder if the third game will explore Cal and his dark side, struggling to contain it while also unleashing it to those who deserve it. I just know that it’ll make for one helluva sequel.
Truly the most fearsome boss of all: “Rick THE DOOR TECHNICIAN!” 🥳😈 Shame he only used 1% of his full power at the time, otherwise Cal would’ve been screwed. 😂
@@Darkon4580 Well technically it was developed by Respawn Entertainment. EA is just the publisher. My point was that its still under Disney Lucasfilm. The funny thing is, Disney had less input into the films than EA had for this game. But something I see recurring all the time is. If people don't like something, they blame Disney, if people do like something, they say Disney didn't mess with it. Disney doesn't make Star Wars. Lucasfilm does, and everything goes through Lucasfilm before being released.
Bode Akuna reminds me of Regime Superman from the Injustice video games. Just like Regime Superman, Bode let his fear and paranoia consume him, twisting him into a mockery of the hero he once was. Bode killed hundreds, maybe thousands, of innocent people to save himself and his daughter, writing all of them off as worthless nobodies or obstacles to his own goals. It got to the point that Bode only cared about his own happiness; he would gladly imprison Kara forever as long as she lived, not caring that she would end up fearing and hating him.
Fun fact: After defeating Rayvis, if you travel anywhere that is not Koboh you won't get the cutscene between Cal and Merrin on the Mantis. That's what happened to me.
When Merrin kissed Cal after he said he trusts her .. Oh man I nearly cried of joy like a bitch .. That’s what I wanted after the end of Fallen Order and they gave it to me ! Then when they kissed again before Bode’s betrayal; the way the scene fades to black, you KNOW they did the nasty !😂 My man Cal getting that Nightsister kitty 👏🏼
I originally wanted to go through this game (mostly) completely blind in terms of its story. But that was until a saw four or five major story spoilers in several different YT thumbnails THE DAY BEFORE the game released. While it still kinda sucks, I’m gonna be watching this before I get spoiled any further. Side note, thanks to GLP for not being one of those guys.
I see the Dark Side like a drug. The more you use it, the more addicted you become. The more you risk losing yourself in that addiction. It is easy and quick to use, but exacts a terrible cost on the soul and body if used too much. Cal is right to be concerned about this ability to stay within the Light. It is a challenge, especially when faced by dark times such as the ones he is facing.
You'r right. Cal embracing the dark side was so sad and hard to watch. I hoped that while so many fell all around him, he would stand strong, or over come it in the same game he fell. I feel so bad for him. But he will rise up.❤💪
Dagan: I'm a jedi and I want to use Tanalorr as a safe place for the remains of the Jedi to rebuild outside the eyes of the Empire! Cere: I'm a jedi and I want to use Tanalorr as a safe place for the remains of the Jedi to rebuild outside the eyes of the Empire! Bode: I'm a jedi and I wand to use Tanalor as a safe place for my daughter and I, as remains of the Jedi, to rebuild our lives outside the eyes of the Empire! There can be no compromise between these wildly different goals. There's just no room on this massive empty planet.
Yeah. I was half hoping Cal would forgo Tanalor, let Bode be alone and deal with what he has done, and maybe another outer rim/uncharted planet would suffice. Last game, he gave up his dream of rebuilding the order to focus on things in his control. He was so attached to the idea of safety and he knew it. I feel so bad. But he has the haven he wanted. maybe things will work out.
They did have have different goals. Dagan wanted to build an army in order to create an empire of his own. Cere wanted an open door to continuously bring Force sensitives, and Bode wanted to escape there and then lock the door to others so the Empire won't find them.
Cere wanted to bring in force sensitives and preserve the jedi teachings, which means she'd want to bring in Bode, and should WANT to learn from a jedi from the peak of the order. Dagan wants an army so he's not gonna be upset by Cere bringing more force sensitive people with a grudge against the empire for his army. And Dagan would love to use Bode's knowledge of the empire to his advantage. And Bode wants his family to be safe, so he should be thrilled that there'd be an army of force-sensitive jedi trained by a knight of the old republic standing between the empire and his daughter.
While not directly raised into it, Cal walks a path to the dark side. ... One very similar to a certain ascended Sith, who was able to rip a Star Destroyer out of the sky, above Raxus Prime. I can only imagine how powerful Cal will become!
Your channel has grown huge in the last several years, glad the hard work has paid off big thanks for always being reliable & putting out the highest quality stuff 🙏🏼
Interesting how in the second fight against him Dagen talks about severing chains, which is something the Sith value. He may have still believed himself to be a Jedi, but in reality, he was a Sith all but in name
Yes I noticed that! Like my dude you may not claim to be a sith but all your talk about severing chains and freedom… might at least be honest about your ideology man lol
@Carolyn Walters I don't mean that as in they are wrong. I was saying oops because it's bad to agree with Jedi now. 😊 If you don't want to here my case don't read. Bode isn't free, he was ready to keep Tanalor to himself, and exile himself and his kid, trying to protect his own feelings. This game lays out the pros and cons of a jedi having relationships. When I researched real world greed and psychopathy (addictive and impulsivity), and how they can consume a person, I found what the dark side is meant to be. The jedi life isn't a blue print for one's life, but no, it's to encouraging self mastery and improvement (which I know are uncomfortable ideas now, but they're good). And in the context of star wars, they are to help superpowered beings not become their worst. (I would link sources about the Jedi, but you likely don't want 5 links to other videos😄).
One thing I wish the game had in terms of the cutscenes was that the cutscenes utilized whatever stance you had equipped, so the same cutscene would have like 5 different versions for each stance but the cutscene would end the same each time, just to give the gameplay a bit more liveliness. Though to make the same cutscene over and over again just with different stances and attack sequences seem like a lot of extra time and money, It would’ve been interesting…
I'm glad you make these game "movies". I played the first game but I'm not a fan of the souls-style of combat so it made the game a bit more frustrating for me. I'm much more of a fan of the Batman Arkham and Witcher style of combat.

I completely lost my shit laughing at Rick the Door Technician.
He's a legend for all time!
As Cere said: "Every Jedi faces the Dark Side". I have a theory that Bode couldn't face it after the Clone Wars and lost his wife to the Inquisitors.

Yes. But Gab was obnoxious. Am I the only one?
They really left us ready for the third game with that cere moment. “Guide her through the darkness” and she said Trilla when Vader dealt the killing blow on her. Now I’m super excited
Honestly I think she was talking about bodes daughter

Luke did. Kathleen Kennedy destroyed all the good writing and development Luke had in legends. Clearly not a real fan
@@eduardofaria3972 what she says doesn’t matter. Don’t ever forget that.

This is one of the few canon Star Wars stories that makes the empire actually look like a threat, I am looking at this and being grateful I don’t live in the Star Wars galaxy.

I wouldn't use the word "noble". Both examples are idealistic, but are ultimately primal. Like Anakin trying to protect Padme like a predator
You do realize Bode got that lightsaber off of Dagan, right? That wasn't his lightsaber. He was merely appropriating it.
@@MrJakeros Anakin asked Baris Offee why she kept Ventress’ red lightsabers. Baris said they suit her. If Bode kept Dagan’s lightsaber, it is because the lightsaber suits him and his mentality.

@@NkGaming-1101this is Disney but ok
@@unincognito3689 This is EA actually.
So bode Akuna is another Anakin Skywalker and means order 66 and empire is his fault since star wars is about him

This. This is one of my favorite moments.

@@ThreadBareHope1234 With how desperate modern star wars is to justify the sequel trilogy, I'm expecting Tanalorr to end up being Exogal or something.
@Metrion77 Probably. I feel like Obi Wan in that deleted scene "that's never going to happen"😂
Cere is a female character done right. Not "Strong and independent" but fierce and loyal. Pretty good stuff.

Interesting how in the second fight against him Dagen talks about severing chains, which is something the Sith value. He may have still believed himself to be a Jedi, but in reality, he was a Sith all but in name
True. The inclusion of Dagan, Bode and Cal's turn almost makes the Jedi's aspirations look aspirational. 😂Oops
Yes I noticed that! Like my dude you may not claim to be a sith but all your talk about severing chains and freedom… might at least be honest about your ideology man lol
@Carolyn Walters I don't mean that as in they are wrong. I was saying oops because it's bad to agree with Jedi now. 😊
If you don't want to here my case don't read.
