I had the same problem with this *SAME Otis Series 3* located in *The Sultan Hotel, Lagoon Tower* in Jakarta. Same chime and the microwave beep.
The 90's Series 3 (which I loved) is aging into a near to its end of lifecycle.

I was almost trapped in that elevator when the elevator suddenly stopped between the 3rd and 4th floor traveling from the lobby level, then safely returned to the 3rd floor.
3 out of 5 elevators in the bank was modernized by a generic South Korean elevator manufacturer.

Sounds like the clutch clipped the lock coming into the floor and caused a safety circuit break.
Shouldn't that be AN elevator?

The elevator stopped at the 24th floor
Probably a safety break with something in the shaft
It looks like a safety feature called "Normal Terminal Stopping" or something similar was triggered. This feature ensures the elevator car slows down before the terminal floor. If the speed is over the limit when approaching the terminal floor, the controller will force the car running on inspection speed immediately. If the speed still not decreasing, an emergency stop will be applied.
That malfunction either reminds me of your MPG videos with the famous Dover lift or your video at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where lift #15N got stuck up at the penthouse (at the time)
I have ever encountered this kinda glitch quite a lot. It usually happens on Otis series 3, when it travels to long in one ride without stoping, it happens. There is a Otis series 3 near my home which serves 38 floors in total. When it travels more than 30 floors in one ride, this happens.

Sounded like the 2nd one did the same coming in.
I think I encountered something similar at another hotel. It was a Westinghouse. I selected floor 25 but the elevator jolted violently on the 20th floor and then travelled DOWNWARDS to floor 10 and then continued its way to 25. I still don't believe it
Probably it went to the inspection limit switch (which stops the elevator from going up)

It seemed to arrive at floor 24 rather fast without slowing down like it did in the rides to 24, maby brake kicked in because of the speed of arrival.
I think maybe it activated the brakes while transitioning from high speed to low speed, so goes high speed -> stop -> low speed -> stop instead of high speed -> low speed -> stop.
i think what happend was a power outage for one second. Let me explain.
so theres a power failure. and the city(Or building) switches to a backup power. And the elevator detected that and stopped

The lift just slow levels at some floor while going down.
The exact same thing happened to me _twice_ in July on *TWO* different elevators (not here, elsewhere). I even caught one on camera (yet to upload)!
I love elevator malfunctions. It means something interesting is going to happen
I have lived my first stuck in a same Otis and I saw how it restarts live,mine shows the "- -",goes basement/ground faster than it's speed thrice and finally goes to the last memorized floor,what makes it even more awesome!!!!!!!

It overshot the floor secretly!!!
It was the door rollers getting hit to the point it unlatches, this is common on most Elevators/lifts which have GAL or Euro and maybe asian style euro rollers too? But yeah it's pretty common but it's something not to worry about, just hope it doesn't jam into the outter door and you're good.

Mine has experienced two times with elevator crash like this. All of them are happened in Hyundai elevators
has to be something with the door operator look at the door speed when you board and when it opens from that point on its stupid slow
If you want to get another car, you should hit a floor then get out, and press a call button while it's going away from your floor.

These "new cabs" (I hate to admit) look like they've seen better days and look a lot older than anything new, at least within the last 5 to 10+ years.
Nathan Andrew Davis They might have used this old architecture for a reason. Unless you mean that it just looks old in general and needs cleaning.

That is very odd, maybe it hit the floor switch in the shaft late and the emergency brake went on.

There are to switches
Limit switch and the real overrun switch
As far as I heard, If the limit switch hit, it means the lift is in the toppest floor, sometimes the lift could be out of sync with the controller. And it corrects itself..... and the overrun switch virtually kills the power.

Yes they are
Elevators aren’t perfect, things like that can happen, and that was a one time thing. I’m sure those are perfectly fine just the way they are! They look very nice

Up slowing limit didn't activate I assume.
It happens from time to time, I couldn’t think of a reason myself why it happened.
The lift probably hit the roller causing a safetybreak.

Well hotels have said that the 13 floor is known for bad luck so many hotels don't have a 13 floor

Most buildings and as far as I know cruise ships don't have a 13th floor, and that's because it's bad luck in some traditions. (superstition)
I want to ride elevators with you I like that stuff check them out you know what I mean go over the us

One of my TK's it does like a loud click to open doors
they must be superstitious, there was no 13
And sometimes superstitions doesn't have to believe,it happens even without we know
