Pikmin series is a family friendly strategy game By definition of strategy games this includes warcrimes and thousands of casualties at the smallest mistakes
I know you say the ranking at the end is subjective, but I think it’s as close to objective as one could get on an opinionated topic like this. 2 has so many cheap shots at the player, 1 lacks the QoL additions the later games added, 4 is just REALLY long, so there’s a lot of ways you can lose Pikmin, and 3 is fairly easy, but has some tougher enemies later on.
fun fact: using only winged pikmin against the scornet maestro is one of the easiest ways to see no casualties in it. just, make sure they're all flowered, and dodge the scornet attacks, then charge him while he's defenseless. during the third attack just charge him in the middle of his attack.
Even easier strat is to separate your captains, and have a captain with zero pikmin be the main target (he likes to target the one you're controlling from my understanding. Kind of like the raging bloyster from 2).

Pikmin 1 is the most strategic for 100% and Secret Boss Fight fourth hardest to 100%. Pikmin 2 is the hardest at your own pace third hardest to 100%. Pikmin 3 the hardest at being a speed based game first hardest to 100%. Pikmin 4 hardest Jack of trade game being a mix of At your own pace to Speedy also second hardest to 100% with All Platinum'd.
27:25 Looking at your team composition, you made that fight harder than it needed to be. Shaggy Long Legs can be beaten using only rock pikmin, which it can't kill. (This fact can easily be missed however, due to it being the only enemy in the game that Rock pikmin will actually latch onto and attack repeatedly.)
The water wraith is not that scary when you realize In both Pikmin 2 and 4 you can skip all the treasure and go straight to the exits the first time and then once you beat him and come back again he’s not present so he kinda becomes a joke now that I shared this knowledge

Awesome insights! And Happy New Year to you too! I can definitely see Pikmin 3 and 4 being the easiest to do deathless runs on the number of tools given to you is crazy. Pikmin 1 surprised me I hadn't played it in over a decade but still thought I knew the general ground rules when going in. Hundreds of Pikmin later I wondered how I managed to beat this game when I was a kid 😅
So a fun (and kinda dumb) fact about pikmin 4: enemies in the overworld actually do not respawn after you defeat them for the first time, unlike in the first 3 games. This makes grinding new pikmin much harder, especially if most of the enemies you killed via ice pikmin, turning them into nectar
it does almost make sense though with Pikmin 2 and 1 probably being the hardest since in Pikmin 4 it does state by the literal text that these guys have been limiting how many pikmin can come out at one time for survival, and by now have probably had so much prior training thanks to olimar I think it's supposed to reflect that the pikmin are evolving as a species being able to hit harder, be stronger, and more ready to take on anything that comes their way as long as they have some sort of leader. with even olimar at times being "afraid" of them being sucked up into the onion which actually does happen here when he had to turn back for moss when she couldn't breath. and his oxygen being so low that the pikmin decide on their own to bring him to the onion so I think it's symbolism of them becoming more advanced and now what used to be so scary and tense is now easy to them as well to take on.
Bulborbs are REALLY easy to kill in Pikmin 1 and 2, just get a group of 20+ pikmin and use the swarm action to push all of them into its backside, it'll die in seconds.
That is a terrible strategy in Pikmin 2. In 1, yes that works, but in 2 he will most likely shake them off or eat a few, always resulting in at least a few days or if you're lucky he'll keep shaking until he dies which is rare.
20:07 Ohh, that's another thing.. in Pikmin 2, whenever you can just spam purples against an enemy, you can generally kill it before it retaliates. Bulblaxes in this game have significantly reduced health from the first game, and could easily fall to just 20 purples on land.
Great video!! I wanted to ask, did you ever play through Olimar’s Tale? It’s some of the most fun I had playing Pikmin 4, and is some excellent late game content too
For the whole bulborb situation, you can easily circumvent the problem by killing all the small ones first, retreating, and then dealing with the main one. Their lackeys can't help if they are dead.
i spmehow managed to beat pikmin 4 with only 30-some deaths, including olimars shipwreck tale, because i didnt have the necessary spicy sprays to beat the man at legs without any deaths
The thing is, what is most deadly is subjective. With good strategies, all 4 games can have no deaths. However, I feel Pikmin 2 is THE most deadly, because of the intimidation of its caves compared to 4's.
46:40 if you had finished all night expeditions, you would know that the smokey progg appears in the 4th area and onwards, but only during night missions
Ooh, a lot of those Pikmin 1 deaths could have been avoided with knowing the easy kill strats for each enemy. Bulborbs without dwarfs are simple, if you can get behind them with about 60ish Pikmin, just swarm against his back and he'll be dead before he even fully wakes up. Bulbears can be taken out the same way, but require more Pikmin or more time. Snagrets have 1/3 chance to get their head stuck low to the ground, making for another quick and easy swarm kill. Wollywogs... I have no easy kill strats for; they are just that deadly. Swarming them isn't good enough, because they will always hop at least once, and are still able to kill upon landing, even if they die in midair. Beady Long Legs is also still very difficult. Emperor Bulblax, even with the intended method of bomb throw stun, is still very difficult to setup, and I've always had to resort to sacrificial yellow bomb instead (which doesn't stun as long). And of course, the Smoky Progg is still just the worst thing ever. Even scarier is that they can scream to force-pluck all planted Pikmin, which it will then walk all over, made all the more terrifying when paired alongside the Snitchbugs replanting your Pikmin in the worst positions.
The place you said was Australia probably actually is. The landforms in Pikmin 3 are in the shape of Pangea Ultima, a theroetical supercontinent that our landforms will form in the distant future.
33:31 it is also interesting in terms mechanics as enemies respawn in caves but not the actual area which makes me sad killing the downy snagrets knowing that they won’t respawn and because they are so cute
Intentional or not this seems logical to me. The first expedition is a short unintentional visit followed by a longer more arduous exploration, after that a proper exploration team arrives, and finally an even more advanced team. This is not taking into account any lore of course but still.
Which difficulty did you play Pikmin 3 Deluxe on? If you played on Normal Mode, you may have had an unfair perspective - it's substantially easier than the Wii U game. Hard mode is much more accurate to the original experience.
@@XxEnderxX-lh5hf Deluxe has three difficulty modes. Normal, Hard, and Ultra-Spicy. Of these three, original Wii U is closest to Hard mode. Normal is substantially easier than the original, and obviously Ultra-Spicy is substantially more difficult.
@@XxEnderxX-lh5hf You can tell normal in the deluxe version is easy mode from the original because the bosses die significantly faster, usually before they can actually show off their gimmicks.
I can see how you rated it, and it's a pretty goo way to rate it. 'Technically' you could do a deathless run, but that takes a lot of practice, and doesn't reflect each games difficulty. Pikmin 2 actually has the highest amount of 'minimum' Pikmin needed, due to that doomsday item needing 100 purples. So even if you did a deathless run, you'd still need the most pikmin.
You don’t need blue pikmin to fight the emperor bulbax. You can replace them with reds as blue pikmin don’t have any attack boosts. So basically, blue pikmin are useless while fighting the emperor bulbax
Also if you throw a captain across the scornet manestro or something bossfight and play as that captain with no pikmin, the scorned manestro will attack the captain with no pikmin
I'm pretty sure that Pikmin 4 would be the safest if Pikmin 3 was longer. As it stands, it's a much shorter than 4 with very similar number of Pikmin deaths between the two. You might be able to make a similar argument for deadliness between Pikmin 1 & 2, but I'm not certain added length is enough to close the 300 Pikmin death difference. At best, they may be comparable in deaths for very different reasons.
I guessed the order of the game's deadliness correctly at the start of the video! I knew 3 would be last because it's much shorter compared to the others (able to be beaten in 7 days), as well as the countless exploits and low enemy HP. 2 is obviously the highest, and I guessed 1 because of the lack of QoL. I haven't done much with Pikmin 4 but I know about the first main bit, and it was very easy.
The frozen inferno can only be accessed by reds unless you cleared it already because of the active stove top, so it only recommends them since no other type can enter
Also, if you don’t have the fireproof armour, it won’t let you in at all. I didn’t know that in advance so I had to come back and spend a whole day on just that cave.
Seeing the title alone I was already thinking about “it had to be pikmin2 with it unfair and brutal traps and the caves “ but damn 900+ frankly I don’t think any person will have that many deaths unless it their game or their first pikmin game but since you played recklessly I guess fair enough
pikmin 1 is somewhat difficult. it's a modest challenge where the clock is the bigger deal pikmin 2 is dark souls of pikmin. Your pikmin WILL die. Survival is a challenge in all aspects. Pikmin 3 more about puzzles where death isn't that big a deal apart from maybe a few locations and the final boss/area. Its somewhere between 1 and 2. Pikmin 4. Pikmin can die? that's news to me.
@jraff2735 0 seconds ago Imma update this 3 times, once right now, once halfway through, and once at the end: Before watching: It's Pikmin 2, there is no debate, Pikmin 3 and 4 combat bois down to using the X button before the enemy even sees you, and all of Pikmin 1s hardest fights are either extremely cheesable (Emperor) or optional (Progg), Empress Bulblax alone is significantly more threatening than in any of the other games. There was also the bias of which game you played first, by the time I played 2 I had already beaten the other games (4 wasn't out back then), so I lost way less Pikmin than I would've if I had Halfway: Noticed some incorrect information around many of the game's mechanics, while there is conflicting info on the wiki, flowers are not nearly 2x the speed, according to the technical information (presumably ripped directly from the game's code) Flowers in Pikmin 2 and 4 flowers have 1.41x and 1.42x speed compared to the leaves. As well as the Beady barely crossing the 1 foot mark, let alone 6 (Olimar is roughly an inch for reference). Using both the term "Wallywog" and "Wallyhop" to describe variations of creatures (when in the games they are either called all Wallywogs or all Wallyhops depending on the game and version of the game), etc... The quality of your play also shifts quite a lot between Pikmin 1 and 2, supporting the previous theory. I also noticed a major fallacy with the final bosses, choosing to cheese the Titan Dweevil fight but not the Emperor, adding further bias. All the way through: Pikmin 3 had a pretty fair assessment, but you're overestimating 4 , most bosses there either struggle to attack at all or die in 3 seconds or less thanks to the charge, and the new types make it do basically nothing can successfully attack or even react once before dying. Also notices you critiqued things about 4 that also apply to 3, such as the electricity nerf. Or vise versa, applauding 4 for things Pikmin 3 did like with the water enemies. On another note, for the Water Wraith, he is MUCH slower in 4, barely able to keep up with drowning Pikmin let alone leaves, this combined with the MUCH smaller maps and faster move speed of the player makes him very easy to beat the sublevel at a casual pace without even seeing him. Many of the other returning bosses are nothing-fights as well, as you mentioned the man at legs and Empress bulblax, but the Progg can now be charged at his lower portions from the front, so one oatchi-rush and he's dead, the final cave is a victory lap and really doesn't have the 'struggle' you mention. The final boss also gives you all the types you need in the form of candypop buds, so idk how you didn't have yellows going in aside from a custom challenge, which is fine, but don't try to call it a hard fight because of it.
While Pikmin 2 had the highest death count, I do have to point something out. The cave system in Pikmin 2 has a notorious checkpoint autosave system where when you enter a floor, the game autosaves. While this can mess you up if you go down a floor with botched pikmin numbers, it also allows you to redo any and every floor and actually beat the game virtually deathless. Pikmin 1, however, has not only the tanky creatures, but botched hitboxes, and sometiems downright idiotic AI (TRIPPING pikmin, anyone?). Upon replaying all games and having foreknowledge of the bosses and creatures, Pikmin 1 continues to massacre my pikmin more than any of the sequels. A single wollywog jump can exterminate 25+ pikmin. Pikmin who aren't even UNDER it, and that doesn't cover Bulborb attacks or horrifying bombrock mishaps. Now, tack this on to the day limit, and each in game day being 15+ minutes, and while in any of the other games, you can redo a day just to salvage pikmin numbers, Pikmin 1 you may happily trade the deaths of 80 pikmin for successfully getting 3-4 ship parts in a single day.
Dwarf Bulborbs referred to as "children". Hahaha no, those are Breadbugs mimicking the mature Bulborbs appearance to cohabitate and steal resources. Those resources being edible pikmin
2 timelines, First, pikmin 1, all ship parts, pikmin 2, all treasures, pikmin 3, all fruits. Second (two endings) pikmin 1, bad ending or pikmin 1 but moss makes olimar die, pikmin 2 but louie, pikmin 4, then pikmin 3? i think
27:50 "prior knowledge", you mean the thing most newer fans at the time of pikmin 3's release WOULD NOT have? that criticism only works for veterans of the series and i'm personally having a hard time taking someone seriously as a newcomer to the series (i'm hoping to play pikmin 2, 3 or 4 this year as my first games to the series) when they start saying how easy a game is for instance, a completely new player could vary well not know of the water wraith going into pikmin 4, nor would they know feeding bomb rocks to the emperor bulblax would stun and damage it, prior knowledge is a luxury only long time fans have and its growing more tiresome each time someone starts having that blatant nitpic
You do realize you can take MOST bosses on, with oatchi alone right? After oatchi *dies* the game just Asks you to wait a coupple of minutes for him to wake up. And since you can controll oatchi DIRRECTLY. Hes alot harder to kill than normal pikmin ive spenth hours in caves, as almost oatchi ENTIRELY on hes own.

Intentional or not this seems logical to me. The first expedition is a short unintentional visit followed by a longer more arduous exploration, after that a proper exploration team arrives, and finally an even more advanced team. This is not taking into account any lore of course but still.
What difficulty did you play Deluxe on? The Normal mode is actually Easy mode.
Pikmen being a survival horror game made me spit out my coffee 😂. .
Which difficulty did you play Pikmin 3 Deluxe on? If you played on Normal Mode, you may have had an unfair perspective - it's substantially easier than the Wii U game. Hard mode is much more accurate to the original experience.
Unless it was actually Wii U, in which case carry on lol
Actually, normal mode is the Wii U original difficulty, and ultra spicy is the hard mode, but to me, it's not harder at all
@@XxEnderxX-lh5hf Deluxe has three difficulty modes.
My guess is Pikmin 2 since it has the most "unfair" traps
The mandibles of the Armoured Mawdad are breakable. It's only way of killing Pikmin is removable. It's completely useless
I have the pikmin poster on the left in thumbnail
while bro was talking about the smokey progg my mind was just ( *Rapid Pikmin Death Sounds* ) and then i like snapped out of it one second after
You forgot one pikmen game...
Hey pikmen
I should play that game soon
pikmin 1 is somewhat difficult. it's a modest challenge where the clock is the bigger deal
pikmin 2 is dark souls of pikmin.

Imma update this 3 times, once right now, once halfway through, and once at the end:
Before watching: It's Pikmin 2, there is no debate, Pikmin 3 and 4 combat bois down to using the X button before the enemy even sees you, and all of Pikmin 1s hardest fights are either extremely cheesable (Emperor) or optional (Progg), Empress Bulblax alone is significantly more threatening than in any of the other games. There was also the bias of which game you played first, by the time I played 2 I had already beaten the other games (4 wasn't out back then), so I lost way less Pikmin than I would've if I had
Halfway: Noticed some incorrect information around many of the game's mechanics, while there is conflicting info on the wiki, flowers are not nearly 2x the speed, according to the technical information (presumably ripped directly from the game's code) Flowers in Pikmin 2 and 4 flowers have 1.41x and 1.42x speed compared to the leaves.
Currently playing the WiiU version of pikman 3 and I can say delux looks far easier because the charge and lock mechanic are way easier to pull off
While Pikmin 2 had the highest death count, I do have to point something out.
Electricity isn’t a insta kill in pikmin 3 either
Dwarf Bulborbs referred to as "children". Hahaha no, those are Breadbugs mimicking the mature Bulborbs appearance to cohabitate and steal resources. Those resources being edible pikmin
2 timelines,
First, pikmin 1, all ship parts, pikmin 2, all treasures, pikmin 3, all fruits.
Second (two endings) pikmin 1, bad ending or pikmin 1 but moss makes olimar die, pikmin 2 but louie, pikmin 4, then pikmin 3? i think
I think pikmin 4 could be the hardest pikmin if you not use ochie. But yet again there are some enemy that need Ochie to be beaten. This is the pity.
No yeah that is Australia. PNF-404 is earth.
Watching you play pikmin 1 is painful af....
27:50 "prior knowledge", you mean the thing most newer fans at the time of pikmin 3's release WOULD NOT have? that criticism only works for veterans of the series and i'm personally having a hard time taking someone seriously as a newcomer to the series (i'm hoping to play pikmin 2, 3 or 4 this year as my first games to the series) when they start saying how easy a game is
for instance, a completely new player could vary well not know of the water wraith going into pikmin 4, nor would they know feeding bomb rocks to the emperor bulblax would stun and damage it, prior knowledge is a luxury only long time fans have and its growing more tiresome each time someone starts having that blatant nitpic
You do realize you can take MOST bosses on, with oatchi alone right? After oatchi *dies* the game just Asks you to wait a coupple of minutes for him to wake up. And since you can controll oatchi DIRRECTLY. Hes alot harder to kill than normal pikmin ive spenth hours in caves, as almost oatchi ENTIRELY on hes own.
ayo kai your finally back on youtube, happy new year
On the pikmin 2 you did not get the purple spray which sprays petrification
I usually just used Louie as a distraction while Olimar took the Pikmin to flank the enemy
Me, a pikmin 4 player: whats a louie?
@@terremotodelikes6551Louie's a useful bait tactic where the other captain acts as bait, but Oatchi is way too awesome for that tactic. I love pikmin 4 and appreciate how useful and cool he is. (and such a good boy too)
@@cameron-yo6zp AGREED
3:17 he doesn’t know.
A dwarf bulborb(small one) is a 🍞🐛 bread bug, alest in species, a red bulborb however (big one) is a grub dog.
Why? The small ones are Mimicking the big one.
However the dwarf and spotty bulbear are grub dogs. Cool right?
And this can be said for most of them. Except for ice bulborb, and dwarf poison bulborb but that one is not a a grub dog, same for bulbmin, but there cute 🥰 but treRe mom… not so much
Me after a bulbmin mom eats one of my 🟣pikmin out of 💯and I just got 💯:‼️‼️‼️‼️🤬🔁
Edit: The R in there is there because I misspelled it.
10:19 idiot 2: the pregel
16:52 idiot 3: the boss of nightmares
17:53 idiot 4: olimar
27:09 idiot 5: left to get some milk
Pikmin are based of pikpik carrots, yet there are no orange pikmin
the garden of hope is in australia and the garden of hope is this gaames forest of hope which leads to my theory that pikmin 1 and 2 take place in australia
As a person who doesn't lose a lot of pikmin i can't even fathom losing 925 lol
Dandori issue
Pikmin fans commenting "Dandori Issue" on a Mother's Miscarriage
Since i played pikmin 2 like a idiot, i have 700+ deaths, and 2000+ in every play through of every game (excluding hey pikmin)
Hey Pikmin has one of the deadliest creatures in the entire series (Berserk Leech Hydroe) and you didn’t even talk about it
Yooo new video!
Listen, this is a very good video and I did enjoy watching it but after seeing those numbers? There’s only one thing I gotta say…
Skill issue
Sorry if i ask. But can you make the Current State of Every Warner Bros franchise?
Nice video but also in Pikmin 3 electracity dosnt kill. It just stunning the Pikmins.
suprised you didnt talk about the fact this is a post apocalyptic earth also i wonder how hard pikmin 4 would be if you did an ochi less run or at least the bare minimum ochi uses
if the answer isnt 2 ill be surprised, but im sure there will be good reasons for it... but its 2 so i wont have to be surprised
Commenting for the algorithm
Pikmin 4 the 10 trials is the deadliest thing
What about HEY Pikmin
Pikmin 2 was definitely the hardest for me
I thought you were really bad at Pikmin 1 so I replayed the game myself to see how much better I was and I had about 200 more deaths than you. I apologize.
safest is pikmin 4, deadliest is pikmin 2
Pikmin 2. For sure the deadliest is Pikmin 2.
I had Pikmin when I was a child, I never got anywhere close to clearing the game. I don't remember even getting out of the first area lmao
WHERS HEY PIKMIN!!!!!????????
Olimar bad ending 😂
Have not watched the video yet, it’s Pikmin 2.
on my first pikmin 4 playthru i lost like 600 pikmin:( but it was the first pikmin game i played
I didn't even know pikmin could die in pikmin 4.
