Truly, it cannot be overstated how mush your brain becomes after 12+ hours of Pikmin speedrunning so good job on this run! I've only ever run Pikmins 1-3 back to back, and just the thought of queueing up Pikmin 4 after completing 3 whole games is nauseating, so to anyone trying to discredit this run in any way, I implore you to try it yourself and I'm sure you'll find that it requires simply being BUILT DIFFERENT like our boy Dan from Press A here :)

Pikmin 3's timer is perfectly fair. It's designed with the expectation that the player will not be going for 100% and isn't hyper-familiarized with Pikmin as a franchise.
@@Xahnel That's what we want. Casual gamers are what matters the most to Nintendo, and casual gamers won't play games if they're too hard, much less buy a sequel.

23:00 I mean the day limit doesn't really provide a challenge to experienced players in either game. They're meant to give tension to a novice player and incentivize efficient play with using days(even if there's not really tight enforcement).
fun fact at 39:25 cavern of a king is actually not the longest in the series TECHNICALLY hear me out there is a file in pikmin 2 unused named Last_4.txt and inside that file being supposed to be the final cave for pikmin 2 it has a staggering 32 sublevels so technically that title actually goes for pikmin 2! and for added context Last is referring to wistful wild all the regions are divided in to names valley of repose is (tutorial) awakening wood is(forest) perplexing pool is (Yakushima) and of course wistful wild again being (Last) pretty neat figuring that out tbh it made me realize pikmin 2 was supposed to be much longer in comparison but im glad it was as good as it was my most favorite of the series by far just wanted to give you some fun facts thats all hope every ones days are going well!
My condolences, sorry for you and Ty's loss. On my 2nd playthrough of Pikmin 4 I also had the day end on 99% on Sunspeckled Terrace, Serene Shores, and Hero's Hideaway. So annoying having to go back and waste a day in-game to get 1 thing.
10:53 Wait.. Is this the intended way to get to the shower room?? All my life, I thought that I had to slowly bring yellow pikmin across that narrow bridge in groups of 10 to destroy the electric fence!!
I was not expecting that random beef with my favorite Pikmin game half way through. In casual playthroughs of the game you wouldn’t normally get so much fruit that you have over 80 days. Plus, it’s more supposed to be an incentive than an actually dangerous barrier.
Im am so so sorry for your loss, this was an incredible video for an incredible person, they will always be here with you no matter what, you are an amazing person inside and out, and you will be able to get through this, this video made me so happy and I am sure it made her beyond happy to to see a Pikmin video of this feat for her, she would be so honoured! You can do this, the light at the end of the tunnel always comes again, love you so so much, may she rest in peace
Love your videos. I have been a Pikmin fan since the days of the GameCube playing Pikmin 1. You recently popped up in my feed, I believe it was the beating Pikmin without Pikmin idea that hooked me. Started binging your other videos and you relit my desire to play Pikmin again. It was then I remembered that back when Pikmin 4 released I got maybe 5-10 hours in then stopped for some reason. I don't remember why. So the game is unfinished for me. I decided I would take this opportunity to play through them all on my Switch. One through 4 in series, like this. Not in 24 hours of course. Currently halfway through Pikmin 2. Looking forward to seeing the rest of 4.
I have a theory of why Pikmin 4's loading screens take so long... Its because it was made using _Unreal Engine._ Like, maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think the Switch system likes Unreal Engine very much, because every single game I've played on Switch that uses it has long load times (Pikmin 4, A Hat in Time, and Princess Peach Showtime come to mind... And I don't think its an optimization issue, since of the three Pikmin 4 rarely ever has lag during gameplay).
22:40 I'm making an assumption here, but: The developers did not expect the player to take 100 days to complete Pikmin 3. (Day 15 + 84 = 99 juices, and you get one extra day with 0 juice left, unless I miscounted) The juice mechanic is an experiential time limit rather than a mechanical one. In Pikmin 1 the time limit is mechanical, you land on Day 1, get 30 days and that's it. Pikmin 3 starts with three days of juice. you experience that as a three day time limit, BUT you will find fruits and get more juice. Mix that in with the narrative and you get counter-play. You want to see the next bit of the story. But you need to make sure you don't run out of juice. That experience feels, like a time limit without being so rigid, and predetermined. Maybe you get a lot of juice all at once, maybe you try (as some people have) to get as little juice as possible. Which leads to expanded play horizons. Furthermore, as you've familiarized yourself with the game, probably gathered a decent supply. Gotten all of your captains back, etc. Louie takes your juice away from you. Maybe this causes you to be anxious, maybe it stimulates your Dandori skills and you can see how much better you've gotten at managing pikmin than you were when you started playing. EX: "Wow I just got 4 days of juice in a single day, remember when it took a whole day just to rescue Britney and get one strawberry?" There is also the camera, once you've played the game, and know how much space you have to mess around in, you can try to set up some cool photograph moments, fighting bosses, sunsets, etc. All in all I think that makes the fruit juice system better than how pikmin 1 handled things.
As an addendum, a lot of people say Pikmin 2 doesn't have a time limit system. I think it does, but its not mechanical The time limit in Pikmin 2 is driven exclusively by narrative. Getting the letters at the end of the day talking about your boss being hounded by loan sharks or sleeping under a bridge made me feel like I needed to go faster. Louie getting left behind and needing to be rescued made me WANT to rescue him; being lousy at the game, race to get a lot of sprays so that I could survive in the caves long enough to get to the bottom.
I personally prefer the fruit system just because it's easier for newer players to get used to the Pikmin format and then go for games with more limits such as Pikmin 1 (and the juice looks delicious) Also my condolences to you and to Ty, may Ty's Mom rest in peace
@davidthecommenter that and I wasn't expecting it to roll over so when it rolled over my army and all those Pikmin screams happened I laughed at it for like 30 minutes
me, laughing to myself, knowing that the sage trials give the purple onion, and that he also had to get so many glow saps to ACTUALLY 100% this game, as it's part of the main story
i love the idea of growing your own fruit and eating it before the pickmin. just boot it up once a day and allow them to eat that sweet juice and see if you can actually do it lol
9:30 Well, because the sublevel is given a randomly generated area format, it is possible that the water can be placed in areas with no near treasure. This can make it possible to collect all of the treasures without blue pikmin. I would know because I actually have done it twice before on day 3
on the night before leaving college (long story but i dropped out lol), me and my best friend from college decided to spend that precious time to beat pikmin 4 in one night. just beat it, not even 100%. we started at 9pm, i figured we'd be up until 4am at the latest. at 7am we took a walk, we were literally going insane on that couch. we got back, i played a pikmin day, then using my few remaining brain cells, turned it off and went to bed. i think we got to giant's hearth, i know pretty close to the end, but my willpower broke ny dedication to the bit. good times
fun little tidbit, this same morning you posted this i was playing the stage to get the white onion in pikmin 4 attempted like 4 or 5 times and then just put my cartridge back in the case and threw it against the wall last attempt i literally timed out as the onion was being pulled into my ship
40:45 I don't think that' show it feels to be on world record pace. To be on world record pace, you need to know exactly what to do in the rest of the game, and it's a matter of not choking and, if applicable, not getting bad RNG. If you successfully do the things you know you need to do, then the timer has no choice but to be low, and if you don't, the timer has no choice but to be high. The runner and the RNG are in control -- not the timer. From the examples I've seen, it tends to be extremely tense -- high heart rates, extreme focus, and an explosive reaction to choking or to succeeding. It's not really the dread of contending with an outside force -- even if it's a run with RNG as a factor.
While I think pikmin 3s ability to control how many days you have is good I do think they went overboard with how easy it was to increase the day count
personally, Pikmin3's fruit system is superior but they didnt tune it right at ALL Most fruit give you an extra day on their own, some giving multiple days or at least a day and a partial. Thats the issue. Its not hard even for a first time player to get multiple fruits a day so its not feasible to run out at that ratio.
If you did count those other modes and the badges which r required for 100% the badges in Pikmin 3 and the platinum medals in every mission from Pikmin 3 would both take way longer than 30 minutes
I have a challenge run idea: beat Pikmin 1 and 2 (or any combination of pikmin games) simultaneously with one controller, similar to PointCrow's challenge with BotW and TotK.
Wouldn't it be quicker to use leaf puble pikmin and spicy spray on the doomsday apparatus? Because then you could add speed to it through that one glitch.
"Unfortunately, Purple Buds won't spawn on early Sublevels if you have more than 20 Purples or more, so Sublevel 8 is the best bet." Now, is that "in your party", or "total"? Because I'd think that storing your Purples would be faster than going through all those extra Sublevels.
I believe it's actually your total, not just in your party. I only just played Pikmin 2 a couple months ago and remember running into the same thing, though I could be wrong
How did you not know about to gold bar so far into the challenge? I was thinking about that treasure as soon as you started pikmin 4 😆 At least it didn’t turn out so bad.

Fun Fact Pikmin 1 any% and 100% are the same catagory when speedrunning. Getting all the ship parts is faster than quitting out for 25 days.
