- I’ve lived with a 2018 Audi S4 for the last year and 20,000 miles, and it's been the most expensive car I’ve ever owned by a huge margin. Here's my experience and thoughts on the car.

How much did the wastegate actuator set you back? They went back to Borg Warner from IHI right? The wastegates on the Golf R IHI turbos were a disaster for a few years.

Thanks for posting. I also am Andrew. I appreciate this post. I am looking from the other side of the automotive fence as a Mk7.5 R owner looking at used s4 models (though my reasoning is likely different - carpal tunnel and tendonitis) to replace my six speed manual. I'm also looking at the 8Y s3, but the prices are stupid comparatively at this time.
Ha - thanks for watching! S3 isn't much of a step up over Golf R in my book so not worth the money. I'd go S4 all day, just make sure to get one with a warranty haha.
@@AlsoAndrew I've actually lined up a 2022 S3. With a OTS 93 tune they run low 11's.
Totally missed that you said 8Y and not 8V. You're right - those are quite a bit quicker. Still not much of an upgrade in terms of interior/comfort over new Golf R though.

How does your s4 have the 360 camera and other camera options I’ve never seen any s4 with that

Do you think this car was a lemon with all of the electrical gremlins etc? I've been looking at these for a while bu around the 20k mile mark, but after watching your ownership video, i'm worried. Did you get your maintenance and repairs done at a private mechanic or the dealer? Thanks!
Could be considered that, though I think it was more a symptom of being a first year/early build car. It was VIN 2632 with an 03/17 build date so a pretty early B9. I typically used Black Forest Technik for work on this one, although some things I left as-is when I traded it in - made it the dealer’s problem instead. With that low mileage or on a newer car you should be better off, though I’d still recommend a warranty if it’s out of factory warranty.
