Honestly this wouldn't have been THAT bad if the fridge didn't decide to act up 🫠 But question: wouldn't it be just as tasty being served individually? Cake, with a scoop of ice cream, and a torched meringue on top??

Traditional this desert was a showstopper. It was served tableside so the guests could watch the server pour liquor on top and light it on fire (flambe). It is supposed to be served immediately and to a crowd. This is supposed to be a contrast of textures and temperatures. 😊

My best friend always has baked Alaska for her birthday, so I make it for her. For me, it's pretty easy and nostalgic! I just freeze the cake and ice cream together overnight, then meringue it up and into a 500 degree oven! 5-7 minutes later, it's done! Easy peasy!!

I made this for one of my sons birthday. Instead of cake I used brownie and chocolate cherry ice cream. It was delicious!
I’ve never seen people actually put it in the oven. I’ve seen them torch it… or pour some alcohol on it and torch it

Mini individual versions may or may not allegedly be easier and more successful.😊

Seen alot of them made. Individuals are usually easier based on size, and ability to deep freeze ice cream only. Roll little balls place on a plate and freeze then place on cooled cake. The merengue then can be lightly broiled or torched.

Easier way BY FAR:- use a portable gas torch! It’s what I do just have the ice cream REALLY COLD & DONT use a metal plate!
With a small gas torch you can put it on a normal plate no worries & also I put frozen raspberries in the middle…..
Sometimes add generous splash Contrea with the berries too!😎✌️
Why is your fridge so packed and unorganized, like their are cartons of stuff everywhere...
