What a sweetie. She’s more affection motivated than food motivated. It makes total sense to me that if she was bathed at home a lot as a kitten she might have also gotten used to a basic hair dryer, while the big one is louder and more forceful so scarier especially combined with the cage.
I honestly think the cage is a bad idea for all but the most psycho, impossible cats. It seems to really scare a lot of them so extremely. I know crate drying (or using a hair dryer while cuddling), takes longer but maybe appts could be staggered so while one is slowly drying in the crate and having a final blow dry with a hand dryer, another could be bathed etc. Maybe?
@@denverdubois5835 I agree, cats don't like being cornered and by virtue of being a box, the cage is just four corners. Sometimes knowing they could get away if they wanted too is all they need.

I have a medium-haired kitty who had a lot of diarrhoea when younger too - in fact we still have issues with that but it's been much improved and we're getting away with using wet wipes lately. But he's had a LOT of showers too (I shower him rather than bathe him because he likes the water flowing out)... and hates the blow dryer. So he's only towel dried (which he also HATES) and then left to air dry, which takes about 30 mins despite us being in a humid country - it's very strange as he has a super thick coat. So the cat in the video may not necessarily be used to blow dryers, sometimes some cats air dry decently well.

I wonder if those sun blocker car window stickers would work. They have ones with suction cups too, so that might work if you rub the surface down with alcohol first.
Well for tranperency there are many solutions, the easiest would probably to just get a dark film, like its used for car windows for example, and attack it to the glaspaneels. and concering the magnet lock issue, well, just impovise an additional lock that might be as simple as glueing 2 hooks, one one the left and one on the righ side of the opening and wrap some wire around them, if you want the door to stay closed
I have a highland lynx mix girl. Her ears didn't curl back like her mama but she is prone to very dirty ears and infections! Have to keep on top of it. She is definitely a character though! Very mischievous, curious and LOVES to eat things she isn't suppose to. She drives me crazy but she is so pretty and loves to stand on my back.
I even do sanitary clips on my 2 cats' behinds, and they're shorthaired cats. They've had it done so often they don't care. Of course, it started when they were babies. Same with grooming. (Jan Griffiths).

I am over 6 feet tall and yet my empathy for you "I am too short for this sh*t" was profound. You sounded DONE with this, even though this cat is really adorable, it looks like a lot! I actually wonder if she didn't like the drying cage because you weren't close to her and it upset her. And the drying container flaws are grim too, I hope there's solutions! Thanks for sharing your work with us, and I pray future pets won't make curse being vertically challenged too often 🤣
I wonder if the work bench could be lowered, and the "non escape proof" sides heightened? I'm not particularly tall either, and I don't have to wash animals, but working above the heart is fatiguing.
You can adapt the rage cage. Put something opaque on the walls (even a large towel would work) and some kind of a mechanical latch on the door. She’s a gorgeous cat; great personality.
I'm thinking some 3D printed hole covers could work for the rage cage arm holes. I envision something kind of like a squat teardrop shape with a rotating hinge at the point of the teardrop that can be attached to the existing doors so the covers can be swung into place as needed.
You are so brave and patient! I am trying slowly to trim the nails on my cat. She is two years old and inside only. I am only able todo this when she cuddles beside me, not with forced towel wrap. Don't know whether to try a happy hoodie on my own? Nail clips are $29.00 locally. California. Not worth the stress of going or the over the top price. We only charged $5.00 at the Grooming facility. But it was 7 years ago. Any tips?I tried to turn her around giving her Churu on a lick mat just touching her paws. Maybe Iam more afraid then her😂
@@TheLoopyTiger I was thinking more along the lines of getting an XL pair of those extra thick bite proof dog training mittens (I know they're not necessarily bite proof for cats, but will keep scratching from happening) and using epoxy glue (for example) to attach them to the arm holes (with a canvas "adapter" piece if necessary), sort of like they have gloves attached to the enclosure when working with hazardous materials.

@@big_tiddie_squad6379 Yes it is unpleasant, there are studies to show that it triggers a fear response. That's why there is a big move away from scruffing in the veterinary industry - it's called 'fear free'. They have found that cats actually behave much better when they aren't scruffed, the bubble is much preferred by the cat.
@@JavedAlam-ce4mu Except I'm pretty sure the scarf doesn't actually activate their scruff point, it just compresses their ears and face so that they feel more secure. Scruffing the cat would require pinching the skin on it's neck, which the head scrunchie does not do. Edit: just clicked on the timestamp and yes actually she is being scruffed in that clip, oops! I thought we were just talking about the head cover, my bad.
@@novadearest No worries! Actually, after finding out about the fear free movement, I was surprised to see how often Vanessa scruffs the cats in her videos, almost during every single bath. I had never noticed before knowing about the harm of scruffing. It makes me sad, because she does everything else so well. I assume she doesn't know. Interestingly, the cat actually tries to escape after this timepoint, which I feel could be due to the scruffing (although it can't be proved). Aww, we had a highlander cat that actually found us. We live out in the country so we believe she was dumped off in the fields from a pound after no one would take her. She was a tiny little thing, about the size of a rabbit, she'd jump off the counter and you wouldnt even hear it. Had these really long back legs, no tail (not even a stump like this ones), solid white VERY thin / short coat, and those funny little ears. Really did look like a cross between a bunny and a cat. She almost never meowed either. She ended up getting a cancerous tumor in one of her ears and we had to put her down as she began to suffer. I miss her a lot, she loved everyone and always HAD to be in someone's lap. The most lap cat I've ever seen in my life. Her name was Peepers but we called her Peeps
She's gorgeous and so sweet! I have a bobtail cat with really similar energy. (He was born on my porch so... mutt, not purebred) He has the same tiny sad voice, and tendency to try to flop into the tiniest scratch.
Ideas for modifying the rage cage you have for your purposes without having to design a whole new one: 1. Clear sides issue: tinted/patterned window cling film; You can even get frosted ones meant for privacy that go on house windows. I'd probably put them on the outside of the panels, not the inside, to avoid claws snagging on them and tearing them up. 2. Door magnet weakness issue: Depending on what the door panels are made of, either drill holes to screw on a sliding latch or adhesive hooks you can loop a strap between to help hold the doors shut against battering ram kitties. Or even a bungee strap threaded between the hand holes and secured to itself, but that might get in the way. 3. Hands and hand holes issue: I mean you could attach gloves to the hand holes like a sandblaster cabinet? If they're attached to the box, even if you remove your hands they're still blocking the holes.
Such a sweet kitty! She was scared yet she was still very sweet and not aggressive. I suspect that she did better with the smaller dryer because she could smell you & that the blower was lower power.
11:51 She stopped crying the second the doors were open & you two weren't separated. Whole bunch of people are saying these cats are Kilngons. I can see that they hate not being attached to a person! ❤ Gosh her coloring & patterns are so unique too, besides that big face & teeny ears.
My dog was enjoying his shower for the firts time! He walked in by himself, his tail was not between his legs and he liked the warm temperature. He used to run away if you said vinny in the shower with mummy?!
Nothing is cuter than cats rubbing up against the air because they love your presence so much they just want you to know they're free for a pat or twenty 🥰
There are treat motivated cats, toy motivated cats, and petting/attention motivated cats. That is a people person love bug kitty for sure. She is mostly ok as long as she gets to be near you and get "pets" in some form. Maybe get some coloured window film for the 3 sides of the rage cage like they do with fish tanks?
Sometimes I wish I could pet them tru the monitor. Sometimes I envy you. You get to work with such beautiful creatures. It is the good kind of envy. Because I love your channel. Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing.
You cannot have two of those Highlander cats together. Else they start a sword fight and try to behead each other! 'Cuz in the end there can only be one! 🤣😅 ... Ok, you don't need to show me the exit, I know where it is! lol

My cat hates the carrier, too. What really helps with my girl is I will put something in the carrier that I've worn, like a nice soft flannel. The familiarity of my scent in the crate tends to calm her.......a bit. I also have the carrier in my living room with the door propped open (and the flannel) and I've noticed that more and more often I find her sleeping in the carrier. I'm hoping this helps the next time I need her to go in the car in the carrier. Fingers crossed. She's a tortie so you just never know.

@@suep9445maybe stickers that look like tall grass.
Behold, the husky of cats! In all seriousness, she's so sweet.
Oh my gosh she is the sweetest bean! Her many little mews! Cuddlebug! 10/10 absolutely purrfect cat
Her climbing skills are on point 😅😂😅
Can you imagine the kitten antics she got up too?
That's one thing about cats---super upper body strength. They have some powerful shoulder muscles. (Jan Griffiths).
that was funny as hell
What a beautiful friend-shaped cat... her meows 🥺💖
I swear all cats getting their butts shaved think the same thing: "THIS IS UNDIGNIFIED!!!!!"
I even do sanitary clips on my 2 cats' behinds, and they're shorthaired cats. They've had it done so often they don't care. Of course, it started when they were babies. Same with grooming. (Jan Griffiths).
to be fair, i have the same feeling at the barbers when they go to shave my neck, then they yoink the collar of my t-shirt down to do the base of my neck and upper back >.>
It's like they are screaming, "How dare you! Get your hands off my SANITARY!!!" 😂😂😂😂
That's a really smart cat. I think it's the only one I've seen get the best of the rage cage.
She’s so pretty!!
And has the same high meows that my fluffy girl does. Ashes joined in the meowing
No! Stop! This cat is too sweet! Those meows are so unique and adorable! So squishable!
It's hilarious how when cats come in they tend to hate their carrier but when she offers for them to get in to go home they load up pretty quick. 😂😂❤
I like Koya's tiny meows and whimpers. She seems like a very gentle cat. Also, I enjoy watching your channel. You have a deep love and respect for animals, and you complete each groom professionally and thoroughly.
She's super cute! She terrified of this new place and constantly seeks comfort.
"I'm too short for this shit!" I hear ya Vanessa!!!
Oh God.... I know she was frustrated & I feel for her but I laughed more than I expected when she tried to escape through the rage cage holes! She's sooo cuddly & adorable though 😍😍😍& very beautiful!!!💖💖💖
I came for the too short for this shit comment! 😂😂😂
If the head fits, so does the rest of the cat. 😂😂😂 Smart kitty 😉
She's so cute.
Like a wee bobcat, but with a cuddly temperament.
@@samoz6865 yes, so true.
Vanessa: Ma’am where you going?!?!
Koya: I’m TRYING to be the first cat in history to escape a wet, slippery, metal box…. What does it look like, MA’AM?!?
Also: 8:50 “I am too short for this sh*t!” 🤣
From one short girl to another, SAME, Same! 😅
Same!
I have a highlander. His name is Koda, and he is a very vocal cat. He also needs a lot of attention, or else he gets very demanding. Very sweet, he loves playing fetch and will ring a bell when he wants something. He dosent have all the traits of a highlander as he has a long, bushy, beautiful tail. He is also on the small side for a male.
I can't deal with how cute she is. She just wants to cuddle ❤😂
such an affectionate cutie!
That rubbing is called bunting. One of my cats will bunt literally anything! She even once bunted the peanut butter sandwich in my hand that I was eating!
Haha yes! I have had all kinds of things bunted out of my hands/all over me, including hot coffee (missed the cat but not my lap, ow
My cat will bunt my hand while I'm trying to put down her breakfast. 😂
@@Rhaifha They do, will stand right up to do it too! Not helpful when you hurl the food across the room lol. I think they are just trying to thank us though 😄
I had a tuxedo boy who was the king of bunting. It was so wonderful. Racer. I miss him.
@@Rhaifha Cat; 'Thank you dear parent, for providing me sustenance so I may live another day.'
Human, witnessing the breakfast being knocked all over the floor, some of it somehow up the wall; "...Yeah."
I have 2 highland lynx cats. Ear care is a weekly event. Very lovable, very VOCAL breed. So worth it, very puppy like personalities… but the ear care is an every week devotion. 😂
4:54 is so sweet and funny how she just responds with a meow that sounds like a nou
"Do you want a treat?"
"NYOOOO!"
Such a cutie, I'd pet her like there is no tomorrow!
Cat: meow
You: meow
Cat: meow
You:meow
Me: it's a meow ping pong
Lol! If I had a cat, I'd be doing this all day with him/her, too! 😂
I reply in 'meows' to my kitties around the clock 😂
I do that to my cats all the time😂
I think it's more like this...
Cat: Help me!
Her: "Help me!"
Cat: No, help ME!
Her: "No, help ME!"
Cat: It's helpless!
Her: "It's helpless!"
Cat: I'm doomed!
Her: "I'm doomed!"
Cat (now crying): 😭
I do the same with cats. I only get echolalia with cats.
The cat’s antics had me laughing so much my husband came over to watch. And then she wanted to knead you into a tea biscuit. Lol!
Akoya (sp?) is a delightful and unique cat with an endearing personality. Her owners must take great care of her. The groom made her even more soft and petable. I agree with you totally Vanessa, I would welcome her to my family in a flash . Her cuddling you at the end was deeply heartwarming.
You could attach gloves to those hand holes, like get used when working with pathogens & nuclear stuff; apply a coloured film to the outside - you can buy it easily; and attach a proper lock mechanism at both the top & bottom.
All easy fixes.
Beautiful cat. Lovely colouring and very sweet.
She's just TOO ADORABLE!! When she tried to climb out of the sink I kept waiting for you to ask her what her exit plan was. Lol😂😂😂
I have never wanted a cat more than i want one like this one. Shes so precious and snuggly, just shoving her head into your hand for pets at every opportunity!! Her little high pitched meows are absolutley the most precious things ever too!!
I love how talkative that kitty is. Adorable.
Her love language is physical touch 🥺 omg the sweetest thing...
She's a very affectionate cat, and she seemed to be fine whenever you were touching her, hence the small dryer working better than the rag3 cage. At least, I presume that's why.
shes a pets over treats girl - definitely just wanted cuddles!
Akoya is a stunningly beautiful kitty!! I have never heard of this particular breed of cat, but now I kinda want one. She's so sweet and so pretty!!! ❤❤❤
PS I have been watching this channel for a while now, and I have never seen a cat poke its head out of the holes in the "rage cage" until now!
That face at 8:20 in her babushka! Adorable and beautiful girl.
That's because she is being scruffed and the skin on her face is being pulled back toward her neck. It's not an enjoyable experience for cats.
@@JavedAlam-ce4mu its not unenjoyable either.
I have noticed that often when the cats act out on this channel, it is after being scruffed.
The way she turns her head is so cute! ❤
I haven't seen a Highlander before and she is gorgeous 😍. Plus that adorable personality just wanting cuddles!
This is one of the cutest felines. Those darling eyes and warm meows🥰🥰🥰💚
I just found my new favorite guest for your video. Can you bring her back? She loves physical contact, and it's so adorable when she wants physical contact in the rage cage.
as a 4'11" lady as well, I feel your pain. I say that same phrase every time I'm at the grocery store! Mainly because everything I want/need is on the top frigging shelf :(
Think yourself lucky, you are 3 whole inches taller than me 😂
I used to be 4foot 10 inches, I was horrified last time my height was measured, lost 2 whole inches, it's a lot when you are too short to being with 😅
Aww, well, little and good, so they say 😂 take care 😊
@@annehampton5807First time the nurse said I had lost 2/3rds of an inch from my already short 5'1" height I immediately snapped "give it back!". I normally don't come up with lines so fast, but I guess it hit a tender point. 😹
@@Gretabpooh I know exactly how you feel 😊 take care 😊
5-3, so I feel your pain!
@@annehampton5807 oh this is too coincidental, my name is Anne as well...lol. And my babysitter used to tell me "good things come in small packages" , she's wasn't wrong!
Vanessa, I love that she went to you for comfort. You're both so sweet & gorgeous! 🥰🐈⬛💙
This episode fills me with so much happiness and sadness simultaneously, I used to have a highland lynx named Gingles and he was just the laziest, cuddliest little guy. Unfortunately, he passed away from cancer when I was young. I miss him dearly
She is very pretty. She actually reminds me of a bunny with her floof.
Ideas for modifying the rage cage you have for your purposes without having to design a whole new one:
She is so sweet. She just wants to be cuddled.
She's freaking beautiful
Highlander cat ? So, There can be only one ? Eh ?
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Truly the perfect comment 🤣
I knew someone would say it before I did…
If I had a male one, I would probably call it Juan. There can be only Juan!
Just one look at her deep and bright eyes shows how smart she is. Along with her splendid fur and gentle personality, she’s a treasure!!
I love the way her fur randomly reflects the light. What a gorgeous creature!
Such a beautiful name and such a beautiful cat❤️😭
She's a pretty and very talkative girlie! I want to hug her so bad!
Her meows r so adorable
What an adorable squeaky toy.
I love her timid little meows. ❤
She is so cute and stunning. I love her partially curled ears. ❤
Nothing is cuter than cats rubbing up against the air because they love your presence so much they just want you to know they're free for a pat or twenty 🥰
She has such a beautiful face. Despite her shenanigans she behaved really well, no biting or scratching.
You were so patient with her
There are treat motivated cats, toy motivated cats, and petting/attention motivated cats. That is a people person love bug kitty for sure. She is mostly ok as long as she gets to be near you and get "pets" in some form. Maybe get some coloured window film for the 3 sides of the rage cage like they do with fish tanks?
Oh my goodness, the little white tufts shooting from those tiny ears! ❤❤❤ Her coat’s texture and mixture of colouring looks like a real Lynx!
Sometimes I wish I could pet them tru the monitor. Sometimes I envy you. You get to work with such beautiful creatures. It is the good kind of envy. Because I love your channel. Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing.
Dude I can't with the head rolls 😭😭😭😍😍😍
Love her!❤ Many years ago, I had a Manx cat. He was amazing and never a dull moment. Miss him.😢 RIP
You cannot have two of those Highlander cats together. Else they start a sword fight and try to behead each other! 'Cuz in the end there can only be one! 🤣😅
... Ok, you don't need to show me the exit, I know where it is! lol
It’s a kind of magic

I just learned yesterday that Adrian Paul (aka Duncan McCleud) has a UA-cam channel called "The Sword Experience".
I'm not binge watching it, you are ...
OMGOSH, that's just too funny 😂❤
Allow me to get the door.
She has a very interesting meow. So cute, unique like the oriental cats honking. Lol She's adorable, and very vocal like my cat.
The cutiest escape artist I've ever seen! 😻
This was my favourite cat groom…Her little meows 🥺 if I weren’t allergic to cats, this is a breed I would look for. I’m typically a dog person but some cats really get me in the heart❤
She's soooo fluffy and cuddly! Thank you for the close up of the cat comb - it's not easy to see the different lengths of the teeth oherwise
The soft little mews are precious ❤
She started making biscuits with the small hand dryer 😅
What a pretty name for a cat; Akoya, like the Japanese pearl!
oh man the meows. she's so cute!
