@@deuelellan2446 Well don't feel bad. This guy is literally one of the best players alive today. There's about 1700 GMs currently. So yeah, he's one of the best even among the best. 221 is his current ranking by FIDE. Alexandra is around 25,000. The difference between their play is both significant and insignificant depending on the situation and time allotted. I'm sure someone could tell you what separates a ~25,000th ranked player from a strong GM like Eric. Both could equally stomp a say... 1500 elo player in a similar manner with little challenge. They'd pick very similar moves given the same boards. Maybe Eric would have a slightly better position on mate. It's really the fine details that separate them, but it obviously makes a huge difference. Chess skill is weird like that.
There are tens of millions of chess players worldwide. You're just starting out. With a bit of practice you can establish yourself as someone who can at least read a board state or basic position at a glance. Good luck and use this as motivation, not something to make you sad. It's a game that requires a lot of patience and dedication to improve at. My advice is to look at pawn play. This could give you a big edge over people at your skill level. My other advice is to play against people that are a bit better than you, and analyze the games. All depends on how serious you want to take it
