I’d say it depends entirely on what you want to print. We currently have a resin printer for high-res stuff like minis but use our fdm printer for most other stuff since it’s substantially simpler to use.
i'm pretty new to 3d printing tiles... so when you print doorways , how do you fix the door to the jam? there are holes on both the door and the jam, do i need to make a pin or something so it will pivot?
Yeah I think people just use little pins for the doors. I’ve actually never bothered doing it so not sure on the best way to do it. Let us know if you figure out a good way. 😄
Hey! Love your video. It inspired me to go out and buy my own printer to give it a try! I'm on thingiverse and my first print of Devon Jones' openforge cut stone pieces went great. With one exception.. I can't find the tile base!! Anywhere. I have the wall and the floor but I can't find the tile base that magnets would go into to connect the pieces! Any advice?
Just added links to the description! The figurines are a mixture of ones we painted ourselves and others bought from the official Dungeons and Dragons miniature sets. Thanks for checking it out!!!
At the time we made this, it was whatever base was being recommended with the OpenForge parts we used. If they’ve updated it, I’d have to go look and see. Will take a look at some point this week.

With these tiles, is there a method to lock them together? It looks like there could be based on the openings in the base print, but you didn't mention anything.
Yes, there are a handful of different base designs, some of which you can add magnets to for that purpose. We've never done it though. :) (Also that's a lot of magnets.)

How do you print the bricks on the wall without them falling down, they're sticking out at 90 degrees to the thing that the bricks are attached to, how do you print them without support? Thanks!
On an Ender3, I was printing everything at 100% , and it gave me a problem. the math just did not add up, neither in inches nor in Millimeters. 2 inches = 50.8mm, and the wall thickness was 10.5 mm, and the floor length was 41.275 mm, added together, they were 51.775 mm, which is one mm greater than 2 inches, so I printed walls with 9.5 mm thickness. It solved the math problem for me. now everything is a 2 X 2 inch square.
Thanks! It’s been so long I’m not sure what settings we used. I want to say it was 0.05 layers but not 100% sure. If we make more I’ll reply here again. 🤘🏼😄

Do the pieces snap together? I saw some of the tiles had holes/slots in them.
They don’t snap but you can glue magnets in the slots
