Thanks Coop! I am able to use this without taking it back and throwing it through lowe's window which is where my attitude was at before i watched this vid. To the people still having problems i had to use pliers to get the line to feed into the correct spot since my fingers where too sweaty to be able to apply the correct pressure to get the line to stay in far enough. Needless to say, way too much trouble to use and i will make sure to buy a different brand forever more.
Nice! Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m glad it helped. Someday when you look to buy a new trimmer keep in mind that most of the trimmers on the market are actually made by the same company, with only minor tweaks here & there. Also, Makes a much better and easier to string head that fits pretty much all trimmers. It’s about a $35-40 upgrade, but well worth it. ua-cam.com/video/wFKZ_Nd-tzA/v-deo.html Thanks again.
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
It has worked great for us and we live on three acres. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it.
Amazing dude a great video much easier than me re stringing it with the head off! Took less than a minute and no struggle 👍👍👍👍
Awesome! Thanks! I'm glad it helped!
Yay! Thank you! Now I dont have to wait till my man comes home from work to help me with Restring lol 👍
Jelly Belly 😂 thanks for watching and I’m glad it helped. Just don’t get me in trouble with your man 😂. Make sure he still feels needed or more importantly wanted. Thanks again. Have a great day.
@@LivingCooper your helping be more of an independent woman! I honestly dont think he will have a problem with that! Lol
Jelly Belly 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much.❤️ I actually did it.
Awesome! 👍🏻 I’m glad it worked for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Doesnt work for me. Guess im retarded or something... As simple as those instructions were .. just dont see what im doing wrong- but i can turn that all day long and the strings do not wond in
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sorry you’re having issues. Maybe you should take it apart. Maybe something inside is not allowing the head to grab the line. In my other video I show you how to disassemble and wind the string. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html I don’t know if it will fix anything, but it may jar something loose so you can use the easy method. Hope it helps.
Thanks man I was sweating and pissed off till I watched this ...JOB DONE
Nice! 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and the comment. I’m glad it helped.
I still have trouble with the line snapping off near the grommets. So I have to keep taking the head off.
Any thoughts on the bumper use or thickness of line?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sorry you are having this problem. I’m not real sure what the issue is. What thickness of line are you using? Is one of the grommets bent or damaged with a sharp or jagged edge? I switched my head out for an Echo speed feed head. Didn’t have issues with the head, but some people commented that it was a better head. So I got one to review. Coop's Simple Review - ECHO Speed Feed 400
ua-cam.com/video/wFKZ_Nd-tzA/v-deo.html It is a better head. It was about $35-40 when I bought it on Amazon.
OMG...finally found this vid. MAN...I have being losing my mind and patience for about a year. (whenever I had to work in the yard). BUT NOW...GGGG...I'm gonna trim daily and smiling.
Awesome! I’m glad you found it too. I’m glad it helped you out! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm doing exactly what he's doing and it's doing absolutely nothing lol. But that's my luck tho
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sorry you are having this problem. I do know that not all models have the same winding options. You may try my other video. It shows you how to wind the unit by taking the head apart. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html
Sorry again. Hopefully this other video will help.
Seems to have worked but won’t advance when bumped. May have too much string in it
Thanks for watching. I hope it did work. You may have something blocking the bump mechanism. Check out my other restring video. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html I show you how to take the head apart and restring it that way. Hopefully it will help clear things up for you.
Ive done it this exact way. It winds it up all the same. Until I start it then the string jus flys back out ??
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm sorry you are having this issue. I'm really not sure what might be the issue, but I would suggest taking the head assembly apart and cleaning it. Maybe there is something in it that is keeping the cover from being able to lock in place. My other restring video shows you how to take the cover off the head and restring it that way. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html Like I said, I don't know for sure if it will help, but at least it will rule out any kind of dirt or debris causing it to function improperly. I hope this helps. Thanks again.
Thank you for this vid! I’ve been struggling w the weedeater for a while but I won’t anymore !! 😬
Awesome! I am so glad I could help! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Awesome! I was struggling, very helpful
Great! I'm glad it helped! Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is how the manual instructs to restring as well. But mine doesn't like to turn easy lol
Thanks for watching and commenting. Maybe you have something in there jamming it up. You could try and take it apart to clear it. In my other video I show you how to do it. Coop's Simple How-To - Restring A Craftsman String Trimmer
ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html
OMG thank you! So much easier than what I was doing before!

MAKE SURE YOU SWIST THE SHAFT SO THAT THE SPOOL US FACING UP WHEN YOU SIT IT ON THE WORK BENCH.THEN ITS EAZY PEAZY. LOL.
👍🏻👍🏻 So much easier. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So does the string come out by itself when it gets eaten down or is there a button to get more out? Never done this before sorry if it’s a dumb question 😅
No Problem. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. You have to bump the head against the ground, while the unit is running & the head is spinning, in order for the string to come out. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and it's definitely not a dumb question. Especially, if you've never done it before. 👍
Great video man! I tried this method and it works awesome!
Nice! Thanks for watching! I’m so glad it helped!
How do i stop the wire from comming out all at once.... I've re strung mine just like the video stated but over half of the wire comes out when i start it up.. somebody help please 😭
Thanks for watching and commenting. I sorry you're having this issue. it sounds like the head may be stuck open. You may need to disassemble the head and hopefully you will be able to see why it is stuck. I have another restring video that shows you how to disassemble the head to rewind it. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html Hope this helps.
@@LivingCooper thanks
Man, how many years been doing this wrong 😢. thanks Sir.
I feel your pain. I was the same way. I’m glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Glad you made a new vid. The other vid still pops up before this one though when searching youtube.
Usurper thanks for watching this one. Yep. The other video has almost 80k views, that’s why it pops up first. I can’t control that, unless I pull the other one down. I don’t want to pull it down, because if someone has a line break inside the head they would use that same procedure to open the head, clear the bad line and restring it.
@@LivingCooper That's understandable. Maybe put a link in the description or link it in the comments where you say your going to make a new vid? I know you can put a pop up comment directly on the video but I've never messed with that before. Goodluck, thanks for replying.
@@arcani100 that's a good idea. I will definitely put a link in the description and see if I can figure out the popup comment thing as well.
@@arcani100 Done. I just updated the description and added a card link that pops up in the upper right corner. Thanks again for the suggestion.

What string do you use for this model?
@@anna__banana thanks for watching. Great question. I use a 0.08 thickness line. Here is an Amazon affiliate link I have Rhino-Tuff Trimmer Line amzn.to/3bFDeqN We may receive a small commission if you use our link. Thanks again.
I would not have figured it out without the vedio. I already took the head apart
Thanks for watching. I’m glad it helped.
Why don't you tell what size or gauge of line to use? Just saying
Dang! Sorry about that. I thought I did, but you are right I totally forgot. You're the first person to comment on that. Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm surprised no has brought that up before now. I am actually using the wrong thickness in the video. I was using what I had on hand at the time, which was 0.080". However, the correct size string is 0.095". I never had issues with the 0.080" string, but I did have some comments from folks that did have issues with it. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
What's the diameter of the line you're using? 0.80 or 0.95 ?
Thanks for watching and the question. I have used both. I believe the manufacturer recommends 0.95. Once I used all of my 0.8, I had for my previous unit, I switched over to 0.95. Hope this helps.
Thank you
Thanks, really helpful video!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I glad it was helpful.
Thank you so much it works great👍🏻
Awesome! I'm glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Can't get the red knobs to turn ... Help please 🥺
Thanks for watching. I hope I can help. It may be in a bind and you may need to disassemble the head. It not to hard to disassemble you just have to push in the little tabs on the side and it should pop apart. There may be debris in it. Take a look at this video, ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html I show you how to disassemble the head, refill the spool and then reassemble it.
How do you get more string to come out as you use it? I had to keep stopping and pulling it out myself, surely there is a better way? It eventually stopper giving me any string. I opened it up and there was a lot of string left.
Thanks for watching. Sorry you are having this issue. It is supposed to be a bump feed. While it is running you should be able to bump the bottom of the head against the ground and it should automatically feed the line out.
@@LivingCooper I ended up cutting when I got home today. I'll have to try it next time. Thanks
@@MadCarTK thanks again for watching. Hopefully you can get it.

I'm so glad it helped! Thanks for watching & commenting!
Absolutely does not work on mine.
Hmmm... Sorry to hear that. I have another video the shows you how to disassemble the head and restring it. I know that I can do it either way with my model. However, I just upgraded to the ECHO Speed Feed 400 head, which is much easier to string than the Craftsman head. It cost me about $40 on Amazon. Thanks for watching, once again I'm sorry this technique didn't work for you.
I need to find out how to take the string out to restring. Can you help please?
Thanks for watching and asking for help. Sadly, Pops is on a trip away from access to YT. Have you tried this other video of his about re-stringing? ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html

How do I get the old trim line out?

Thank you so much! I'm a elderly guy and I was having a hard time respooling the trimmer. I have just one question: once the lines get shorter towards the lines won't slip off ?
Thanks for watching and asking a great question! I am so glad this helped. It should be a single strand and not fall off.
@@LivingCooper I'm using two just like in the video. Does that matter?
Oh, so sorry. I thought you were talking about my other video with a replacement head. Yes, once you get to the end of the string, it may come off and then you re-string it again.
@@LivingCooper thank you once again for answering my questions! Take care 🙂

I have a video that shows you how to disassemble the head and load it. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html You might try to take the head apart and reassemble it, to see if that helps. Yup, that is the way I did it. You probably should delete the other video.
Thanks. I did think about deleting the other video, however, I leave it up to help folks that may have the string broken back inside the head. I have had this issue before and taking the head apart to pull that string out is necessary.
@@LivingCooper yes, please don’t delete I definitely needed to see how to remove the string

This is like my ws2200 and that was a great demo. It wish I found this sooner. Thanks
Thanks so much for the compliment and watching.
Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the tension in the lines on the 27cc Craftsman? The video is great, I restringed the correct way but every time I turn it on it throws the string out and does not hold it in or wait for me to bumb it. It basically unthreads itself due to the centrifical energy of spinning.
Not sure if I need to get a new head replacement or not. Course, I have only used it about a dozen times, so it shouldn't be worn out.
I mean anyone can respond, I am not prejudice.
Nana here, I told Pops about your questions. I am sorry he has not responded. He had been busy trying to get our AC working so he hasn't had a chance to stop and say anything.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm sorry you are having this issue and that it took so long to get back to you. I had this same question about a week or so ago, and thought that I had replaced. Here’s what told them. Sorry I missed replying. Thanks again.
Cool, thx for the quick response! Honestly, I wasn't expecting a quick response - plus (unfortunately)I was being impatient bc I have half of my sidewalk edged bc I couldn't get my wacker string to work properly.
I inspected the entire assembly - including the spring and locking edges, which both were fine. I can not find any issues with the head assembly. I also could not find any string tension adjustments for the head assembly. I am a bit stumped here - I am pretty savvy with mechanical things as i am a mechanic and an engineer but this gots me stumped.
My old line will run out soon. Do you know if this method works for all craftsman weedwackers? (Mine is also electric).
Thanks for watching. I am not sure if it will work or not. I know the older ones don't, but I am not sure when they made the transition. I'm also not sure if all models were transitioned to this type of head. Sorry.
The way I did it had both 10 inch strings coming out every 5 seconds of cutting. Thanks for the help
👍🏻 I’m glad it help you out! That’s why I made it. Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it.
I've tried multiple times to push the string into the ends after aligning the arrows. It isn't aligning correctly so the line just feeds straight into the reel and comes straight out. What am I doing wrong. I've spent an hour doing this over and over again and I was able to get 1 side to catch once but the other side never took.
Thanks for watching and asking. Sorry you are having this issue, I'm not sure. I had this happen a couple of times. It turned out that I did not have the string pushed all the way in, so it wasn't catching right. I also straightened the string as much as possible, to make sure it was going into the right spot. You might try to disassemble and reassemble the head. Make sure there is nothing in it that would cause it to not catch the string. Hope this helps. I have a video that shows you how to disassemble the head and load it. ua-cam.com/video/1TuVSvp41KM/v-deo.html There is a better head for this unit, made by Echo, but it will set you back about $30-40.
