as a descendant of girmitiya now settled in Canada from bottom of my heart I pray for what they suffered and did for us present day descendant of girmityas-----may their soul rest in peace
BoredThatsWhy You need to locate your ancestors Emigration Pass. If you know their name (be careful with spellings), their father's name, name of the ship they came on then finding the pass is quite easy. This pass can be found at the Archives in Fiji. The National Library of Australia also has it. With this information we were able to trace the origins of our ancestors.
Thank God I'm not Indian. Our ancestor sufered more than we did. Proud to be a Fijian. Hell with the British Government at that time that treated our ancestors so bad. And Indian government could not stand up for their people. They cannot take care of themselves. I'm proud of what I am now. I'm proud that I'm educated and they cannot fool this generation. That's why the British are going back home.
Nice video. Just wondering if I could use this video and show to the public attending the Girmit Day celebrations. Is it safe? Am i allowed to do this?
