Colby, I was wondering about lightning strikes using the J-mount. Any issues? I was wondering if you had a video installing the black base mount. I purchased a base mount but haven't taken the time to climb onto our steeply-pitched roof to install. Well, (5 months later) it's time for me to get up there and install the base mount. I wanted as much input before getting onto my roof. Thanks again. 👍🏽🤠 10/19/22
' Too risky for an old man... I am adapting the same sort of old Sat. mount for the side of our house. It will need some stabilizers as the pole will be ~8'. Cheers. Jim.
Great channel and information. Subscribed. I think I'll go with the 36" SS Proxicast J-pipe. I want to mount a small UHF/VHF HD-OTA-TV antenna below the StarLink on the same pipe. Is that okay to do? Also, is Proxicast's 1.5" pipe mount for StarLink useable on their latest dish?
Thank's for the feedback, glad to have you here! I've heard from several people who have other kinds of antennas mounted close to Starlink without an issue. So I don't think it's a concern, as long as Starlink isn't being obstructed by something. If you mount the other antenna below Starlink, it shouldn't be an issue. Yes, the 1.5" pipe on the Proxicast works fine with the latest version of the Pipe Adapter. That's what I recommend these days, aftermarket J-mount with Starlink's Pipe Adapter accessory.
Where did you get that black base mount that goes under the shingles on the roof ? I too have a severely pitched roof (12-pitch). My dish is the rectangular dish; not the round that you have.
That’s the official Starlink Flashing Mount. I believe they also sell it for the rectangular dish on the Starlink website. You can also find aftermarket versions on Amazon from CommDeck.
You've read all the positives about your content, now here's a negative. Right off the bat your head mounted camera is waving so much I got dizzy. I could see all the different mounts in the one shot without you panning back and forth . . . endlessly. Please, think about the final result. You've heard of Steadicam right? Well, that's why they have it. Other than that, thanks heaps for showing me some of the different options available.
I wanted the router located in the basement. It's easier to route the cable down on the exterior, compared to trying to fish it through the interior walls down to the basement.
Very Good Walk Through! Really liked that final "clamping down" on the pipe! Thanks!

Can I use an old DISH Network satellite dish mount to attach the recently aquired Starlink dish antenna?
8:00 It would be a better clamp if you cut slots in the J-Mount so you could squeeze the pipe onto the starlink pole tighter.
That was going to be my suggestion especially using the V2 Starlink if the Starlink mast is a bit smaller.
Hi Colby,
Are you sure it's starlink dish? Thank you !
It’s a Gen 1 round dish in the video.

@@StarlinkHardware Thanks! Oh, I thought the StarLink 1.5" mount was not good. Did they already redesign it?
Thanks for the video Sir.
will it void the warranty when you uses this mount, and not Starlink mount?

@@StarlinkHardware Thanks.
How’s it holding up with the u bolts?
We’ve had 2 severe thunderstorms since the install and it has held up great. It has handled 40-60 mph gusts with no issues.
Thanks I am so glad I never had to install on my roof.
Shame they can't make a J mount that will turn left or right when mounted on a wall, having it locked facing forward doesn't allow for full alignment.

Totally agree
Wow. You were making dizzy with all the camera spinning around.
One suggestion for youtuber, when taking video, try best to make the picture stable. Otherwise the shaking video make people dizzy.
very shaky camera movement
Why wouldn't you drill a hole in the roof and drop the cable through it instead of having the cable laying on your roof.

Again أن
STOP moving the camera!!!
Sorry, it's a GoPro mounted on my head. Needed 2 hands for this project. I will try to look around less in the next one.
@@StarlinkHardware No big deal, more sarcasm than criticism. I got a lot of good points from your risking your life for us.
