Just found your channel and I really appreciate that you actually play stuff that sounds musical during your demos. Too many pedal reviews are mindless blues noodling.
Never tried Longsword into the Halberd, just settled on it the other way around. Haven't rearranged my board in the last week so probably overdue a switch up 🎉
Love the the setting graphics in the corner. If you ever want a black sparkle instead of that rose, you let me know! I’m doing a pink board and I’d like to get matchy with my LS!
Hey thanks! The settings are a newer thing for me so I'm glad to hear folks are liking that. As for the rose gold, I'll let ya know but I'm on the verge of pink board myself here so it's staying for a bit haha. r/letstradepedals on reddit may have one for ya though, if you're not already on there!
Once again, I LOVE how your channel has evolved in recent years. This is exactly the demo I needed to show me that the Longsword is indeed the weapon I've been looking for. (It's dangerous to go alone...lol). After months from it's release, this is my second quest into this video, and I like it even more. I hope you keep going, and keep growing.
been waiting for this since seeing your post on instagram. that riff at 0:18 is incredible (the harmonics might be my favorite part). i'll be honest i've found myself playing riffs from your demos pretty often, especially the ones from this video and the kronos video. seriously dude, you never fail to impress and inspire me (and sell me a damn good pedal)
I know I need to get a pedal after I come back to a demo of it enough times that I can no longer remember if the tune being played is one of my favorite songs I just can’t recall the name of or not.
Had this pedal with the UA Ruby and felt it didn't gel too great and found I preferred the dagger with it. Switched up my direct rig with the eae Citadel and UA Ox Stomp and it takes and responds to pedals infinitely better. Need to try to grab this pedal again. Killer fucking video per usual.
thx dude! Yeah I've not tried any of the UA pedals extensively but I hear they can be a little pickier with dirt. Citadel is absolutely choice though, but you knew that lol
Subbed...well-earned. On bass, I bet it would sound killer to go with: Shift set down position for low-mids, bump up the low-mids as well as bass (no doi, amirite) dials, set diode switch up to MOSFET, and proceed to roar. BTW that low gain guitar tone at 9:58 kicks the crap outta any TS9 or Klon. Just pure full, rich tone sculpted to hear the guitar and not the pedal's tone.
@@ambienttrash5234 yeah everyone I've seen play one says the same. Stupid good guitar out the box for the money. Will definitely try to pick one up at some point! 🤙🏼
@@ambienttrash5234 Nice! Sabbath tuning! Can I also ask, what do you use to make yr drum tracks? I've never been able to figure that out playing at home. Curious how people make demos with backing drum tracks. Always figured it was software or drum machines, but yours sound so natural. Just curious
@@dannnnng For sure! I've used EZ Drummer in Reaper for like a decade now. I write a lot of stuff by hand/from scratch (including this track), but there are also a ton of great MIDI groove packs available that I find really helpful for putting tracks together quickly. Pretty simple to get it up and running, but also plenty of room to route all the tracks and process them however you like. Definitely recommend EZD if you're looking to write/produce full tracks on your own.
@@ambienttrash5234 thanks man I will try that out! I just play for my self now that I'm getting older with a family. So having some backing drums would be great. Can I ask, would you recommend the longhorn? I've always struggled to land on overdrives I like. Im not a tube screamer / klone guy really. Though I do like a Timmy for low gain. I have similar setup as you, CP Jazzmaster, Voxac30. Just wondering if you like it or is there another OD that's yr fav? Od pedals feel like you have to have several, longhorn interesting since covers a big range.
thanks! tbh I rarely use them together, but if I do, it's likely 1312 into the Longsword, with LS low gain/no diodes and then push it with the 1312 at higher gain (then the LS boost is there for leads and whatnot).
Ah, forgive me-been a while and I didn't note the amp settings at the time. But I usually keep my Origin at the full 50W; gain around 9 o'clock, Tilt anywhere from noon to 3 o'clock. EQ usually a bit scooped with bass to taste, and Presence pretty low or even at minimum. Master somewhere around 9-11 o'clock, just to where the power section starts breaking up-worth noting I use an attenuator, so you'll likely want that too, or to just cut the power to medium or low.
I never replied to this but thanks for being so thorough in your explanation man I still have the amp but I sold my longsword :(. Need to buy another one lol. Peace.
thanks! There's probably something closer out there but out of my own influences, Saosin is probably the closest to this. I think Dance Gavin Dance also has some similar stuff, though I'm not as familiar with them.
@@randysosa7616 oh yeah I'd definitely recommend checking out EZ Drummer, there's a bit of a learning curve setting it up and such but once you do that and just save a template, it's a great way to put tracks together fast, and super easy to turn it all into a final product
“This is an preamp that needs no introduction.” Bruh every single video is someone’s first time seeing this pedal. Including me. It’s like Stan Lee said, “every comic book is someone’s first comic book.”
This intro takes a lot of influence from post-hardcore bands like Saosin, but also some Midwest emo influence from bands like American Football, if that helps
Tuning is C# G# D# G# C D# (or to Midwest emo nerds, DAEAC#E down a half step)
Or New Jersey standard as I like to call it
The knob positions overlays during the playing section are fantastic. Killing it!
This is literally one of the best demos I've ever seen and listened to.
Aw man, tysm 🥺
This sounds excellent and your playing style and approach is super refreshing!
Ayy thanks Alex, I appreciate that!
Facts
That intro song is KILLER!
the best riff on youtube

Absolutely sick intro track. Nice to see someone playing some alt rock instead of generic blues lol

Amazing riffs!! You are keeping the demo side of UA-cam fresh!
Aw man thank you, I appreciate that!
You're bad ass, man. Just gonna throw that out there. The quality of your demos are some of the best on UA-cam.
ah man, thanks so much! Truly appreciate it
Came for the pedal and just ended up enjoying the playing that I had to rewatch to read about what was written
My all-time favourite drive pedal!
Such a sick demo. The riffs are killer and the pedal mangels them perfectly. great work!
Damn. These Dudes make great sounding pedals!!!
Your tone is so phenomenal

@@ambienttrash5234 oh I have been there a smidge. Never planned on a matching board but a pink Skitter got me started and now it’s a thing.
Just watching this now as ive been really impressed with the EAE stuff lately. Excellent demo and playing sir!
Nice video! I was thinking about grabbing this but got the Lime Light pedal instead. Time to listen to Title Fight now
hey thank you! Solid choice, honestly can't go wrong with either of those and I love em both. (Also yesss, TF forever 💙)

Your demo really brings out the magic of this pedal. Amazing playing and music. Completely sold!
Your intro songs speak to my soul my man! 🤟
Love to hear it, thanks so much!
ambienttrash? More like ambienttreasure am i right?! this sounds incredible
8:41 I see you found the “HM2” setting. I may need an updated longsword
Oh yeah! that was a fun kind of Easter egg to find haha
Mine comes tomorrow! Luckily I ordered it before this video dropped. They will be sold out in no time

Deserves way more views, fantastic demo!
This is dope, good job
It must be part of my board then. You got me.
Always making me want pedals I didn’t think I wanted 🤣
DO. IT. This one is about as versatile as they come!
Dude, that intro song!!!
Nice demo!
Awesome review for an extraordinary pedal
Awesome demo of a great sounding pedal
Sounds like one of my favorite band ever : Oceansize. This is huge man. Are you planning to make a record?
Thanks! Haha, hoping to have time to record some proper music this year-whether it'd sound like this, I don't know, but it's def a 2023 goal
Love Oceansize! I hear a bit of that too.
Sounds SO good mate, subbed immediately. Curious if you've modded the JMJM or is everything stock? Been tempted for a while to grab one 🤔😍
Thanks! Everything is stock on the JMJM as of now, may look into upgrades down the line but honestly it plays and sounds great out of the box
@@ambienttrash5234 yeah everyone I've seen play one says the same. Stupid good guitar out the box for the money. Will definitely try to pick one up at some point! 🤙🏼
Better do it sooner than later, Fender discontinued the model, and stock is starting to run low.
great job as always!
need this, is there a cheaper similar pedal to this
So good.
💫
Sharp pedal, sharp demo.
The music you wrote for this fucking rules

After watching this I feel like a fool for thinking I didn’t need a Longsword.
It's alright, we live and learn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hey EAE - how about an insane sick sounding bass pre amp?
Wow👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

any chance I can ask what tuning the intro is?

Thank you 🙏🏻 this one is in C# G# D# G# C D#
Does the boost respond specifically to where the knob is set? Like if you have it below unity would it de-boost (if that makes sense)
Unity on the boost is pretty much at minimum, so no, it probably won't do that
What chords did you use in this?!
damn what tuning is that intro riff?
C# G# D# G# C D# (DAEAC#E a half-step down if you're already familiar with that one)

Not currently, but I do have this track and all my other demo songs up to this point on Bandcamp! Link is in the description
@@ambienttrash5234 alright thanks. I got this pedal now and i like it. Thanks
Do you also play the drums on your demos?
I am a drummer so I write how I would probably play these tracks, but I do program all the drums on these with EZ Drummer sounds
