To be honest, I like my hymns classic during mass
Rhythm section is amazing. Criticize it for your obvious traditional reasons - but the meaning of the words matches the music, the church is packed.
Love this! It is really giving Glory to God. There is room for all styles.

I’m new to being a minister of music at a Catholic parish and I love this arrangement of “Glory to God.” I’d love to hear the rest of the mass parts that go with this.
I would personally drive my family to the next parish to avoid attending a local church doing this.
I'd love to know what the composer, Tony Alonso thinks of this. It's definitely peppy! We sang it as his parish when he worked in Illinois - we definitely didn't sing it like this.

Christus Regnat I am a Roman Catholic, and somewhat sad to be these days. Indeed this sort of thing was STRONGLY condemned by Pius X. The Roman Church is in so much trouble and needs so much help. God save thy Church!

As a Catholic revert, after being evangelical for 27 years, I gotta say this is pretty good.
Stations of the cross, stone altar, icons and crucifix, I don't see a problem.
I attended a catholic mass and it was just like this shouting and dancing very loud

@@frankklose In the West, they tried modernizing the mass, making it less theocentric, and it has led to a sharp decline in attendance while Latin mass apostolates are balancing 6 masses a Sunday and 12 hours of confessions a week.

I don't mind the style, unlike other commenters. I just find it hard to hear this after hearing the Mass of Joy and Peace with organ, full choir, brass, strings, and tympani. Not my favorite interpretation, that's for sure. Do you have any original mass settings? I feel this style would be better used there.

This is awful. We could just become protestants if we wanted to hear this in the church. Old boomers are the only people who like this. They actually think this is the key to get more young people in the church, when young people actually want classic hymns, chanting, and the tradition that has kept our church alive for 2000 years.
Being Catholic or Protestant has nothing to do with the type of music. Young people just like older people like different types of music during mass. Our Sunday evening mass, before covid, was packed with all ages and it is our modern music mass. There is also a movement in the Catholic Church that is Pentecostal and Charistmatic, which beautiful.
The beauty of Catholicism is that there are so many worship styles. And look, the church is full. I think it's more important to be engaged than the type of music. Our church has a large African population our mass are very lively, you can hear our choir from across the street.
And if old boomers are the only people who like this, in your words, then let them. Choose a different mass or church time. The Church needs to reach everyone. And I empathize with you. You need to go to the type of mass that you like but don't criticize others for their preference.
our Sunday traditional mass, even AFTER covid, is packed with all ages, in particular youth!!! It's unfortunate that bishops and priests have been condemning the traditional movement and even suppressing it from the dioceses despite the triple numbers in attendance in the past 8 months.
@@markiemark8717 You missed the idea. God is in the center of the liturgy, not the people who just want to be entertained. And about the charismatic movement, it is a pure heresy. I hope that the Catholic Church will return to its true values.
@@itsnando20 So is our modern liturgy so the point here is that the Catholic church has to take culture into account. Personally, I attend any type of mass, I choose based on the time I can go. But you are making a judgement based on your own personal preference. If you attend at a Mexican or African church you will find very non traditional music. All churches are losing members and we need to incorporate the needs and culture of the people who attend mass.

Ilike the tony alonso mass, but I like in 6/8 meter. Not the rock n roll version. The cantor jumping all around is uncalled for too.

There are only three instruments allowed in the Catholic Church in my opinion, The human voice, Pipe Organ and trumpet, and of course the word of God
I can't echo this enough. And that's not just your opinion. It's the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM). This is liturgical abuse at its finest.

In fact, in rural parts of Newfoundland and Labrador when financially an organ is unavailable, the accordion or barrel organ (the island being settled by mostly Irish) is allowed to be used to accompany chant and hymns, and speaking from personal experience when played correctly it is 1000x more reverent than this trash. Gloria VIII with the constant drone of a consistent base note can be quite beautiful. I'm so confused by this modern tendency toward pop/showtune sounding "hymnody." Our Church has 2000 years of liturgical tradition: we have Gregorian, Ambrosian, Byzantine, Gallican chants, polyphony, even Anglican traditions brought to us through the Ordinariate and in the use of Sarum. Every parish has these resources at hand, whether it be through the hymnbook of the Bishops' Council or simply going to the Church Music Association where one can print sheet music for FREE.

Wonderful! All too often we allow ourselves to be shackled in traditionalism. Once in a while it is a breath of fresh air to venture beyond the bounds of what we have come to expect. This offers healthy vibrance to the mass and it's musical ministry.

The Church is in serious trouble because of crap like this. I you really believe the statement you made, you must know nothing about how the mass should really be. Read official church documents on the liturgy. Read pope Pius X on liturgical music, read even Sancrosanctam concillium. I know you haven’t, because is you did you won’t say such truly ignorant things that show forth your ignorance so profoundly. God Bless you!

I have to say in all my years, this is about the most disrespectful thing ever. People are destroying the Mass by taking other genres and putting it in there. Original is by far better
