I still wouldn't tip if I visited America for a little bit. Unless the people give outstanding service, then they don't deserve a tip. I get not being rude but godamn, I don't want to strip my own dignity and throw away my money for literally nothing.
Many people blame the minimum wage in USA as the reason why the tipping culture exists! It hardly pays for anything, so in most places tipping is seen as literally life saving, even for a small amount!
Yeah sorry, I live in Canada and they expect us to do 16 to 20% tips on nearly everything and I don't make enough to cover that, but I still want to go out and get food for the advertised price and I'm not tipping someone for bringing me my food and then ignoring me for the rest of the service

1:55 It has to be a trade off. Yes it takes carbon to sequester carbon, but in the tree example, planting enough trees will offset the carbon released. My favourite idea is whales. 1 whale is worth like 8000 trees, and after maybe a decade or two of work, the whales will look after themselves and sequester plenty of carbon. All without significant daily carbon use
10:14 slavery is federally illegal. I believe what this addressing specifically but very overly broad, is using prisoners as free or forced labor. Where you are forced to do work for free, and can actually be leased out like an object to a company to perform manual labor. And the disgusting thing is it is wrong that they didn't vote to implement this. Because not all people who are in the person are there for violent crime or anything, and people do have human rights even if they make a mistake and can turn the life around but should not be treated as objects. A good portion of Californians believe that since jail is a punishment than Force the labor is a part of that punishment, what is cap. A lot of people in jail or just thrown in jail for a small crime or trumped-up charges, and some police officers are encouraged to arrest a certain quote of of criminals. There's a lot of data and among history that shows that the prison industry has become a light repackage version of slavery. So that's why they call it anti-slavery because analog cases that's basically exactly what it is.
My parents say specifically “we’re giving them free house and food so why should they get to sit on their ass all day” and it kinda pisses me off bc it’s not the same as the Netherlands or other countries who properly reform their criminals
Last time i didint tip at a resturant they dumped the food on the floor and was fired immiditally by the manager in front of everyone and i got a free meal as an apology now that you read that i want you to know i made all that up in my head and didint really happen
Nope. slavery is still legal if someone is in prison. It was purposely designed that way after normal slavery was abolished so they could wrongly accuse black people of crimes and prosecute them to get them to work.
1:23 I'm pretty sure Algae does leagues better of a job for less square footedge. Some decently sized algae tanks could make the production of CO2 neutral or less if you produce more algae tanks.
Hell bioengineering a strain of algae that's also permanently bioluminescent at night so they could double as energy cost saving sidewalk/home lighting.
@@26th_Primarch That's impractical as it's not focused like streetlights are. It would take 15k x 10^15 of the highest level of Genetically modified algae to equal 1 old street lamp.
@@ythatesfacts the bioluminescent algae could also be used in areas where electricity is not common. Or where power outages are a normality. Even I could use some right about now.
@Lithuanian_NAFO_lad if you live in the Philippines sure but it's gonna be a very dim light that isn't focused. You could get maybe a 1000 lumens per liter using the highest bioluminescent bacteria (Aliivibrio fischeri) but there's numerous issues. O2 lvls, lifespan, temperature, salt concentration lvls, etc. It's a great idea but not on paper. 8:28 About the tip, in europe we dont have a tiping culture, the tip is not mandatory so they most probably declined the tip since thats what most people do here
You see, you’d hope that. But the fact they were laughing about it tells me they knew about American tipping culture, and decided not to tip anyway cause they’re assholes.
@@slimeycorpno? nobody’s obligated to tip. tipping culture is unnecessary, and companies should properly pay their workers instead of making them be dependent on tips. i’m european and i find tipping culture odd.

8:17 in Europe tipping is scene as rude or disrespectful as most don’t need tips to live and being given a tip is they same as saying you are poor. They probably assume that the waiters are just being greedy and don’t need the money. I feel like this says more about the us rather than Europe.
Yes cause when I assume a worker is being greedy, I totally laugh in their face about not tipping them. Like don’t tip, that’s fine. It’s great you pay your workers fairly. You also don’t need to rub it in our faces either.
8:00 maybe the europeans are slightly disrespectful, however they offer a good point which is that we need laws in place to have the workers fairly paid to begin with so that people dont need to tip
In Europe in many places a service charge is included in the meal Asking for a tip in addition to that is seen as greedy The chances they thought that was on there like at home (whilst slim) do exist
Europeans saying they don’t tip is completely normal in Europe. Tipping is not necessary at all. The US has an idiotic and horrible system where you need tips to make a living.
It is completely normal. We don’t have a problem with you guys not tipping cause you guys actually pay your workers. We have a problem with Europeans who come to America and lord over us about it.If you say to a worker’s face “sorry we don’t tip” then laugh about it on your way out, then you are a jerk. You don’t have to tip, you also don’t have to rub it in our faces that you don’t tip.

And most, inherited their homes from their parents.
You wanna know something even funnier? I have a friend who’s Egyptian, and he says there are people in Egypt who believe the pyramids were built by giants.
As someone from Europe I can say that not everyone is like that. There are plenty of dickheads from anywhere who just straight up disrespect other cultures when travelling which just sucks and gives tourists a bad rep wherever they go. Also ironic considering American tourists have a horrible reputation here too, yet everyone I've met was nice enough lol. Nuclear power is so clean relative to other types of energy. Especially because it has a recycle rate of around 90%. It just has a bad rap from instances like three mile island and Chernobyl, but nuclear energy is safe when done correctly
It isn't a diss, literally every energy source will release greenhouse gasses being made. Is nuclear power good? Absolutely, I think if we put more into it we can build plants even safer, cheaper and more efficient than they are now. But you cannot deny the fact that the materials used to build the plant will release a fuck ton of CO2, still over time it'll release way less greenhouse gasses than any other power source.

10:53 I feel like you flip flop on the topic of prisoners rights a lot, usually depending on the story. Whether it’s a broad, general story, or an individual, you seem to switch between harsh punishment, sometimes even death sentences, but in this video you seem to completely despise any form of labor in prison. In my eyes, they should do labor. You took or harmed the community that you lived in, you should have to repay that. And I feel like if we got a different story, where a heinous criminal of sorts got off Scott free, you would prolly speak the same.
It wouldn’t be an issue if the prisons weren’t run like literal companies and they feed and treat the people there like genuine garbage no matter what they did. I understand the need to find proper punishments and I think Netherlands have figured it out but the design of our prisons only yield more criminals not less
@ Well, if we’re gonna down that route of discussion, then something needs to be set straight. Correlation does not mean causation. High Crime rates aren’t caused by the sub par response to said crimes- they’re caused by the lack (more like disregarding) of societal norms and a culture that glorifies lawlessness.
@@hunterkinsella5303 yeah that’s precisely why I mentioned the Netherlands. They have a pretty strict set of laws but very low crime as they actually focus on rehabilitation instead of a perceived “justice” by punishment
Amsterdam is nicknamed the cannabis capital. Weed is decriminalized, and would ya know, most drug “convictions” are actually a long stent in a medical facility where they teach you to become a proper member of society and help you sustain yourself. I wish our lovely UA-camr would write an episode about the American justice systems and compare them to people who have figured it out. We passed a lot of laws in the USA this year which were just weird when you consider it only benefits the rich and doesn’t do anything for the average person and especially NOT keeping the streets safer by forcing them to work and become resentful of their own community
@@ruffr4bb1t well if you’re committing crimes against your own community why should you have the right to gain from it? Why should we put resources into people who stole or had taken from others? You’re applying a niche drug use charge with other crimes. Unlike what the media loves to run around and say, the majority of people in prison… definitely deserve to be in prison. And making a bigger focus on rehabilitation won’t matter if we don’t fix our cultural issues first.
In my opinion its not our business that America “land of the free” can’t be arsed to pay it’s workers, now i know people are gonna complain in a reply but just know, im not responding, i dont care, its my opinion
The problem, they make it mandatory, they should keep it as an appreciation, but instead, like most capitalist nations do, they fuck over everyone so long as it means more money for them.
We know! It’s not your business. And it’s okay to have that opinion! Tipping culture sucks! The shitty thing is these European dudes were being assholes about not tipping. I still wouldn't tip if I visited America for a little bit. Unless the people give outstanding service, then they don't deserve a tip. Many people blame the minimum wage in USA as the reason why the tipping culture exists! It hardly pays for anything, so in most places tipping is seen as literally life saving, even for a small amount!
20% tip is outlandish, regardless. I would've just rounded up to 300 but I guess that would make me the bad guy here...
Yeah sorry, I live in Canada and they expect us to do 16 to 20% tips on nearly everything and I don't make enough to cover that, but I still want to go out and get food for the advertised price and I'm not tipping someone for bringing me my food and then ignoring me for the rest of the service

For historical context for the California bill. When slavery was banned. Slave owners made it so slavery was still legal when a person was imprisoned, then they would unjustly charge and prosecute black people for crimes they didn’t commit so they could continue getting free slave labor
Basically, slavery never truly ended, slavers just found a strategy and an excuse to keep the practice alive to this very day.
SOAD was right
It wasn’t the Slave owners who added that bit to the thirteenth amendment, it was the people who drew it up (which had no Slave owners at the time).
my comment about hating on slave owners got deleted?

Whether it’s a broad, general story, or an individual, you seem to switch between harsh punishment, sometimes even death sentences, but in this video you seem to completely despise any form of labor in prison. In my eyes, they should do labor. You took or harmed the community that you lived in, you should have to repay that. And I feel like if we got a different story, where a heinous criminal of sorts got off Scott free, you would prolly speak the same.
It wouldn’t be an issue if the prisons weren’t run like literal companies and they feed and treat the people there like genuine garbage no matter what they did.
