Shane got riled up so easily it's kind of funny. That really was his biggest problem. He made all the right calls and had a good head on his shoulders but the way he delivered was too much. Goes to show that being right on its own doesn't matter, it's all about how you carry yourself and especially how you treat the people around you
Dale was one of the most useful ppl though. Shane made no sense. He was Coping. Glad Shane was taken out early and Dale stay with us till season 12; when he was betrayed.
And it works. Dale is wiser than Shane and isn't looking for a fight but for signs. Dale intentionally wants to piss Shane off so that Shane may slip. Heck, he might even give a full confession out of guilt. But Shane is too intelligent and most importantly too far gone to fall for it. Dale still got some information out of him and that is that Shane cannot be trusted anymore.

I was saddened by Dale's death. Dale tried to keep the group's humanity intact. Dale never lost his humanity instead he saw the inhumanity the group started to exhibit. Dale knew it was inhumane to execute somebody who he knew may not have done anything wrong. Dale stood by Randell and wanted his life to be spared. Sadly, everybody came to their senses too late and Dale paid the price. He was a humble, caring and genuine human being.
Okay, I know you're gonna counter this, but Randal implied he joined in the gangrape of 2 teenage girls with his group that ABANDONED him during the shootout at the bar. It would have looked wrong to kill him this way, but necessary. They couldn't take chances with him. If they had set him free like in the end they decided to, Randall might have killed or hurt someone there. Shane was right, but he wanted Lori, which was his downfall.

I remember being a huge fan of the walking dead when it came out, I had just started highschool and it was the perfect show to watch during that time. This show was great then, but it's definitely a show of it's era and watching it again brings back bittersweet memories. I can't believe that it's still on air though, I feel like it should've ended at least 5 years ago lol

They killed him off in such an underwhelming way because he refused to be a part of the show after Frank Darabont was fired. In the comics he survived right up until they meet the hunters (the "termites" or people from terminus in the show). I actually enjoyed his part in season 2 quite a lot but it was a slow season and Dale was usually a part of the slow discussions so i can understand being underwhelmed with his part to play in season 2
