  • Knowledge without action is useless.
Too often, our problem as followers of Christ is not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of courage. In order for us to live the lives Jesus has made possible by his grace, we do not need to know more. We need to be brave enough to act on what we know.

Great homily, Father Mike. Another aspect of Jesus' delayed response to the Canaanite woman could also be wanting his disciples to understand that God's gift of healing and grace is for everyone, with the Gospel account as the capstone of the principle from the first and second readings. The shock value of Jesus' statements regarding his gift to only be for the Israelites, and also his unprecedented action of even speaking to a Canaanite woman, shows us and demonstrates to his disciples that things are different (I love the line from the Chosen - get used to different), and that his gifts belong to all who believe in Him and persevere in faith.

FORTITUDE (as per CCC): Fortitude is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life. The virtue of fortitude enables one to conquer fear, even fear of death, and to face trials and persecutions. It disposes one even to renounce and sacrifice his life in defense of a just cause. “The Lord is my strength and my song.” “In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

to orestowirka, Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), 1994, n.1806 has "Prudence ... guides the other virtues [that include fortitude or courage} by setting rule and measure."
Bishop Robert Barron with whom Fr Mike Schmitz associates does not exercise prudence, but rather in his role in his error allows himself as a psychologically and or emotionally vulnerable family member to be groomed by his identity deliberately for economic advantage of his family by tax-exemption embezzlements and lower insurance cost by fraud with an occult as hidden, incest connected as substitute mate, non-economic, false status, or association with this false status, inducement in purporting presuming consecrated celibate marriage vowed to man in Christ is "a higher way of love" than consecrated male female marriage vowed to God.

Knowledge [alone] makes [people self-righteously] arrogant, but love [that unselfishly seeks the best for others] builds up and encourages others to grow [in wisdom]. Yeah.... courage in particular is a difficult thing in my faith life. The problem is that it doesn't matter how many times that God's instructions to "do not fear" are quoted to me, I DO fear - all the time. It's kinda presented that God magically makes fear go away - but He doesn't. At least not for me.

Here's a thought: the old days where the ruling class was required to fight in person may have been the best way to choose a ruling class because it insured at least one vital virtue in each of them, that of courage. There's no great way to get great rulers all the time, but a system that says you can't rule unless you are brave and courageous is going to out-perform a system that doesn't care about any of that.

Nice message. Studying those virtues is worth doing.
Re: Is the problem lack of "knowledge" or lack of "courage"? It may not be either, if there is even a problem considering the accomplishments of this priest.
There are also factors in society that have major effects on behavior, and are cumulative. I believe those influences include patriarchy and tribalism. People can follow conformity because of respect for authority or tribalism regardless of knowledge or courage. That is why no priests spoke up about sexual abuse (that we know of). Cops don't speak up about needed reforms and the same can be said for doctors. Tribalism controls the will to speak up.
I believe a lot of human behavior that can even be brave, like extreme sports or acting out against societal rules is to defy patriarchy in society, but without moving toward the battle line.

Bravery is the last personal trait one would assign me by worldly standards, yet I'm very Catholic. I'm humble, patient, kind, appreciative, a team player. I would die as Saint Kolbe. But yet I'm not brave in speaking out or publicly admitting things. There are many military minded folks in our church that want to dictate order. Yet they lack in many personal traits, yet they would be defined as courageous and more "Catholic". That's a huge turnoff to the faith. I think we should get to know others and Catholics should be taught the very personal traits they may see in others. Currently there is a growing ignorance in the faithful because we laws and power ahead of knowledge of the person. Brave by the standards of the cross. Yes.

This generation needs to think needs to not just accept things as they are. The McDonald’s thing is pretty sad. I have been watching what I eat for a long time, but not long enough because I’m sick from what I was eating earlier in my life. But it’s not just food it’s everything every single thing that you do you need to read about it learn about it before you do it. We’re very compulsive and we just do stuff and that’s not OK. I’m a grandma maybe even sooner great grandma and all I know is that people just don’t pray don’t think don’t use the higher reasoning. Knowledge is very important, but when you get it, then you have to put it into action and that I guess would cause courage to happen. But people better start paying attention because things are happening in this world and they’re all going to reap the consequences which may not be very good.

    Dec. 30, 2023; virtual pew.
The homily: I can relate to the part that we have paradoxes; in my situation; my mother. I give her honor when honor is due; and she lived doubly: one of honor and respect; undetected and under the radar; maybe the cult guided her to be abusive: I heard the pastor say: be on top of her; or it was a common saying by his family; who were in power. My mother was loved by everyone; and I would never try to bring out the dirty laundry; to those cult members.
The dream I had matches too. We were living in a military state; and yet, everything was: - like the tyrannical elements did not affect us; the priest took a picture for keepsakes; and the picture's background; the oppressive realities: were sort of in a line from the past: like the Holocaust Jews: the star of David line: Jews only line; but here, it was another category. Maybe Catholic genocide? Or both: Jewish and Catholic; - as it was in Poland. In the dream: - I went to the Catholic Church outside the subway and it was abandoned.
I was not sad; like a flower adorned for her husband; Jesus Christ. The greater purpose is to make it; the dream tells you; that the masses were deceived; - going against the Catholic Church.
Rev 21: 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I was watching a Pentecostal; with the spirit of prophesy; and it is the opposite of my dream; as is the same kind of victory over the swamp; kind of prophesies given by; my godmother:
-has a Pentecostal daughter prophesying every single day; the swamp is going to be removed. It appears that my godmother is now Pentecostal...
-and so, that is just amazing; that for 9-years she was used; ONLY FOR MY PURPOSE: SAFETY FIRST; - OUT OF THE CULT; AND BECOMING CATHOLIC; MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES AS YOU DID; BEING ENSNARED BY CATHOLIC ATHEISM. SAFETY FIRST WAS ACCOMPLISHED; AND THEN I CAME BACK SWINGING; AS YOU DID TOO.
I can come to one agreement to these prophets that are opposite from my dream of prophesy:
God is always going to be in the seat of honor and not dishonored; and it is honorable to be corrected by the LORD. It is always out of love and not hate; like a father; protecting his toddler from oncoming traffic; or the train.

the tile picture was taken in the car. The makeup is invisible makeup; - only around the eyes. I explained what happened to my Catholic sister; she loved my raven hair coloring and my invisible eye makeup; which is hilarious. Just so silly.
My cats are chasing each other; hide and seek; - because Jackie is on the prowl.

The dream mentioned that I was not part of the crowds; that came and went; and I was not even worried. Maybe that's the difference between now and then; if you are physically abused; you can't walk around; honky dory; and so, it would express itself; as wild animals chasing me; to eat me alive. In a sense - that those animals represented my mother; sad to say. But about me; as a person. I thought maybe colorsim; - and it's not racism; if it's within the family.
I spoke with my nun friend; and she said: no. How could normal people not want to be around you. And if its colorism; you look like you have been all day in the sun; and what is wrong with that.
That was very sweet of her. But I read an article and seen UA-cam videos; that even families can have colorism.
I had mentioned racism part of the founding fathers; of the cult - and I need not repeat that. It is so shocking that I am sure you remember; which includes my late pastor; a black man. But apart from that kind of emotional crime against humanity...
Another crime: in comparison; - was nothing; like the dark secrets of the man in death row; mentioned his name and there was another compound that they made a movie on; called Colonia. The writers of the movie failed to make the connection to the man whose name rhymes with Graham. Same first name; Billy but the other diminutive. This cult compound was not formed on its own; it was part of the leader; whom I grew up believing to be the prophet of the Laodicean age. The Elijah of Malachi 4:5. Or in the Catholic Bibles Malachi 3. Behold I send you Elija the prophet in the dreadful day of the Lord; to turn the hearts of the children to the fathers. My household believes in this man; even though he's been dead. Congregations make tours to visit his grave site; with a Masonic pyramid on top of the entire grave. The people do not know its Masonic and they do not know he was a 33 degree. They come every Easter to see if Jesus will rise again from the dead; AGAIN. Some say; that his bones are not there anymore; it's all on video.
For some reason the church on those grounds; the Headquarters it has now been closed - for one year. And so, maybe it dried up. They had a few church splits. But the printing factory is where the son thrives on this false religion that generates millions of dollars. This is one way to get rich; when in those days of prohibition; the government stopped the liquor business; so, invent a new religion off of the first Elijah's mantle: Alexander Dowie; who had his own religion that took up an entire city; and they renamed the city: Zion City, Ill.
Prohibition solution. Be a firry preacher and go under the radar; and it worked! Start a new religion of dark secrets of Pentecostalism; which they fired him; AND SO RIGHTLY SO. WB did not make liqueur in the basement of the church; NOT EXACTLY BUT CLOSE.
Hollywood can make a comedy; there's even clowns; as the clowns ran from the orphanage that they had just robbed; and were caught riding Amtrack; from State to State.
LIKE MY PRIEST SAID; - YOU CAME OUT OF A DEN OF SNAKES. ROBBING ORPHANGES!
Back to reality - I daydreamed; and revealed more than I should have; but it's funny. My household brother would flip out if I even try to explain these things.
It's dangerous to be in a cult; they would kill for it.
My nun friend helped me to not look at my tan as an issue.
But the Catholic family here; not practicing though; had a Christmas gathering; and my household was not given notice; and we were clueless. The host had separate dinner yesterday; with just four; like conscience bothering him; for hosting without me. That's good that you have a conscience. Some things you can't apologize for; according to the catechism; and it would be wiser to leave it alone and make restitution.
I heard my boss speaking with another woman; - who are in their late 60s and up.
She hired this older woman; and the older woman; quietly and averting her eyes; for a secret; said: Why is she here? And the response was: I had pity for her. She could have said anything else but that; THAT IS WRONG IN MANY LEVELS.
Now this is a woman that adopted a son; and cried with gentleness with a social worker. Maybe I had imagined things. The rain melted all the snow; and the skiers are not here; and so, she said: business is slow.
In US: One time I was working - and I never revealed my ethnicity; and everyone just guessed. Later on: down the line; I corrected an older woman; again. As soon as I gave the country; in which my ancestors fought in the abolition; I gave you the name of my forefather; and here, this woman right to my face; walks away; and never talked to me again.
Presently, the Catholic brother that we saw yesterday; and was backtracking; -colorism might have been committed:
he has invited us to be part of the family retreats; that was just planned for the next generation of children; who do not even know their cousins; who are not living too far away. Some are far, though.
That's that. In the light of his apologizing should I take it as an apology even though he did not apologize.
