Machen was a true hero of the real Christian faith, who proclaimed the true truth of Christ Jesus and His "Way" as revealed in His self revelation that man calls the Bible. Machen's book, "Christianity and Liberalism," is a manifesto for all time and should be required reading in every seminary and every church that truly worships the one, true, living God.
My husband and I are taking a Greek class at church, our text is Machen's New Testament Greek for Beginners. It has been a challenging and rewarding experience, I think every Christian should go through this class!
So helped by these Interviews. I had the book by Dr J Gresham-Machen. I found it in a goodwill store! I gave it to my pastor at the time who was about to go to Vancouver for postgraduate study there. I'll never forget his amazement that I had a copy and he could have it. I remember that I learned about the modernist/liberal and higher criticism threat and Gresham-Machen's defense of the fundamentals of historic and biblical Christianity. Thank you. Has anyone tried to connect the rise of liberalism at Presbyterian Princeton with the 7th Anglican Lambeth Conference of 1930 which endorsed contraception?
Anyone who doesn't believe that Jesus is the God-Man, who died on the cross and rose from the grave is absolutely not a Christian. They may like some aspects of the teaching of Jesus, but they are not a Christian. And if they are religious, they are the follower of a non-Christian religion.
