I just got my Sophia 2 board today and watched your video to make sure I was installing it correctly. What an amazing difference! I feel like I've never really seen my 800XL's graphics before. It's all so clear and stable, no pixel crawl. Kind of an expensive upgrade for a 40+ year old computer, but I think it's hugely worth it. Thanks for the instructional video!

Excellent!! I love reading comments like yours! I agree it's a awesome difference that I always wondered why it took me so long to do, lol. I really appreciate your feedback, Thank you.

Sophia2 brighter and crisper and you made the install look like child's play too, Chris. Super review, super kit - would make a lovely treat for all Atari owners - go on, do what Chris did and treat yourself...today! PS I bet SCART confused a few of your North American viewers?!

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, SCART wasn't in my vocabulary for use in conversation during the 80s here in the states but I truly value it today 😁.

I got an Atari 800 XL last Fall. It worked flawlessly so all I did was cleaned it up and used it. It's a wonderful machine and, paired with my SDRIVE MAX, it makes a really fun gaming platform. Your video showed up in my feed this morning so I thought I would see what this Sophia gadget was all about. It puts out some really nice video but I'm not a fan of how far it sticks out the back of the computer. I hadn't seen your videos before but you do some really nice work and you have a beautiful collection. I subscribed.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for subscribing. I really appreciate it. I'm with you that the Atari 800XL is a great machine. It's my favorite 🙂.
I see what you mean with how it sticks out. I measured it and it protrudes 1 1/2" out from the back. This option without having to modify/cut the case is fast and easy but you can absolutely mount it flush to the back or side with some cutting of the plastic case 🤔. I've seen that before.

Is the vbxe and vbxl better? If not why? Just curious......

Great question. I'm not familiar enough with the VBXE board to make a comment on the differences. I'll see if I can find the specs for the latest VBXE revision and maybe do a paper comparison unless someone here can help.
