I absolutely love how you teach. No background music, excessive joking or distracting presentation/production. Just raw knowledge for those who want to learn and take their skills to the next level. It is much appreciated. If and when you have time could you cover the topic of composition?
I love your work. That might seem strange because I am a 76 year old female retired accounting manager. I have sketched, painted, doodled etc., for many, many years. Recently I have gone back to my pen and ink work, which keeps me busy, but I love following other artists work. Please keep doing what you are doing in helping others perfect their work, particularly young people.
This was so calming to watch. Honestly, it's stressful to see pro artists create masterpieces, lol and then you look at the figure you drew trembling because your don'tunderstand toning at all. You're amazing, and I think what's even cooler was you dedicating your time to teach us while doing your work. I hope that more people see your content because it's feels criminally underrated.
17:05 Years ago, one "tool" or technique i came up with on how to destroy the blank piece of paper fear/overwhelm, the answer was just to throw some random lines, totally random without anything in mind, actually it might qualify as scribbles, and from there the pareidolia will begin to make it´s magic and something will begin to appear. I also do thumbnails that way, i draw a small fuzzy ball of graphite on the paper and sometimes i blend it, just like watching clouds and from that i begin, i have filled lots of pages with thumbnails that way, and probably in a totally im not feeling creative right now mind state.
I'm glad the UA-cam algorithm brought me to your treasure of a channel! These videos feel very mature and professional, and it's as if I'm attending an art lecture at a prestigious university!
you're my best teacher. I wish I could have drawn like you when I was a kid. Now in my 40's I'm trying to get those beautiful shapes to my drawings thanks to you. This is a wonderful and relaxing hobby for me. I like to draw terror and alien creatures.
Awesome stuff. Been binge watching all your content. I recently had my first kid so havent been spending more than 10-15 minutes on any given drawing. Your content makes me want to start rendering some of the work I've done.
OH nice, this is exactly the thing i want to start once i get satisfied with the textures! i can't do it both in once, i always ended up burning myself up thank you a lot
I see something taoist wu wei here, not forcing but going with the flow. I liked your term microwave age, I was a child after the war when having a banana was a treat and my cousin's husband who was an artist gave me a box of half-used pastels for Christmas, I feel privileged in this age of bombardment of adverts for things we don't really need. Learning much from your channel and thanks, happy holidays or whatever folk call it these days.
Thanks for the video! I freaking love your videos man! I appreciate all you're talking about! So when you do a drawing, you first make a very light outline, then you go over EVERYTHING with multiple layers?
*With such a talent for drawing, you could easily get a job as an artist-designer on James Cameron's team and draw sketches for his future characters in the movies. You have an incredible talent !!!*
That’s a great exercise. My problem is knowing when to stop adding value, I understand it’s hard to get toothpaste back into the tube, sooo…yeah add as you go. It’s easier to add than to take away. Like adding salt to food. Any advice my friend? Plus, I’ve finally tried the prismacolor method. What a POP! Thanks dude! Still hoping to see a Bigfoot and another mashup of different animals or creatures. Keep rocking!
Picked up this layering from video about fur. Still struggling with line weight and atmospheric perspective but i’m certainly improved thanks to you. If there is a chance i would love to share some sketches with you to know what shall be fixed in the future
Do you think you'll ever offer in-depth courses where you teach everything art from start to finish? I'd pay any amount! The videos you post are so amazing and teach me so much, but I have so much to learn, and I'm lost on where to start.
I'm in the process of developing an online course that would be downloadable. It'll be very in-depth. My thought is that sometime in the Spring it'll be ready.
Thanks for another great video. I do have a question about your shading technique. When you are shading in a patch of value do you keep the pencil in contact with the paper the whole way through or do you lift it of with each stroke so you are doing lines in one direction as opposed to going back and forth? Hope this makes sense, thanks again
I understand you're using 4B Prismacolor pencil. Rright? I've been tryuing to find them on internet but it seems impossible (from The Netherlands) to find them. I see only black penicil but not a grafit one. Is there some link I could use to buy these online?
When he said: "People ask me if I use reference: When I draw really scary demonic stuff..." I thought he would go on to say: "I usually use a picture of ny mother-in-law".
Great stuff, thanks. You said the details were easier and dont take that long but I find the opposite, as a nookie. The details take me forever and I get frustrated with it
How long do you believe it takes to be good enough to really show on someones illustrations true depth. Not like by an accident, but doing it all the time

@@bobbyrebholz2183 I really do! It's been a very difficult year, but these videos...I look forward to them a lot.

I like your style of drawing and method of teaching. It's really interesting, simple for understanding and help for me. Continue, please.
Thank you so much 😀

Thanks for sharing that and it's great that you're still doing art.
Been binging on this channel all week! Thank you for all the great tips.
Do you do any art critic? That would be a great video to watch aswell :)
I do portfolio reviews but actually have been considering live art reviews. Thanks for the suggestion!
Greatly appreciate this. Diving back into pencils for the first time in years and refreshing my memory. Definitely got a lot of catching up to do.

Hhow would you applies this in the digital with pen and tablet do you a have video covering that? Thanks
Thanks. Yes, a lot of my original videos from last Spring and Summer cover that.

I keep it on the paper until that pass is finished, then I lift it up. It helps keep it consistent.
Thank you so much for the quick reply. This makes a lot of sense
Another question(s) how would you for example portray let’s say skin spots vs. the shading? & can you imply color with just graphite? Bigfoot rules!
Don't worry, Bigfoot and dragons are coming very soon😆

No I use 4B graphite from Faber Castell. The Prismacolor is an actual black colored pencil

There's no exact time frame and I don't want to give you the cliche "it takes 10,000 hours" but, it does take years.
I have one doubt: how does that monster chew, please?
It doesn't.
What paper os this ?
Moleskine
Next video: how to draw dragon realistic
Oh, that poor guy seems to had quite rough times. Looks like somebody punched or kicked his Jaw to shreds. Not sure if it is possible to realign that.
Talk about paper with TOOTH, am I right?!
Ha good one! 😆
Do you actually have OCD?
No just tendencies with neatness in my art. Maybe OCD was the wrong term to use.
What makes you think that?
