    I bought a Marrakesh and the first thing I did was upgrade the armor to SAS TEC level 2. The jacket is so good I made it 4-season: For hot days, LD Comfort base layer. It wicks away perspiration, and the Marrakesh's restrictive airflow allows cooling without blowing it away like mesh jackets do. For cold weather, merino wool base layer, Hotwired heated liner and Klim Zephyr windshirt under the jacket. For rain, Klim Forecast Gore-Tex shell over the jacket. I have ridden this setup in 35-95F, rain and shine around the western U.S., and so far so good.

    I have this jacket, absolutely brilliant! Here in the UK in winter I put a kiess heated jacket underneath, summer t shirt, rain, waterproof over jacket, all bases covered, never ever buy anything else... BUY.!

    Great review. I am very tempted. Living in the desert we ride in the mountains to get out of the heat. We encounter 100 plus temps and then in the 70's with possible rain. If I didn't already have 3 Olympia jackets I would probably pull the trigger on this one. That being sad, I am going to go try one on. Keep the reviews coming

    got my M jacket last summer and sold off all the other Mesh junk I had. I cut the gussets out of my sleeves and shortened them 1.25". I'm with you on the "short" for the pants. I have a gore-tex shell that fits over it for the cold mornings. Worth every penny!

    Heres my story. I'm 6'5" and have a lumberjack upper body. Big arms, chest and belly. I bought a Rev it eclipse jacket in 4xl and it didnt fit, it was $189 and i lost money on return shipping to revzilla. I wanted an american brand that makes sizes that fit americans lol. I saw this jacket a year and a half ago and tried it on and loved it but for $450 it was a no go.
    That was until today. I bought one today at my local store, they had a 50th anniversary event and it was 50% off. Bought it for $240 after taxes. Very happy to test it out and watching videos about it lol.

    Ok I just went to my local Bike shop and tried on the Marrakesh Jacket. Man you were right, this is super comfortable. The price is $369 which is a good price for a jacket that is this bomb proof. I didn't pull the trigger since I have 3 good jackets already. But it sure is comfortable being as stretchy as it is.

    I have the jacket and pants and they are very good, superbly comfortable and adaptable. 2 problems with the pants. They won't take a knee brace and they struggle with big mx boots (AS7 in my case) and just about take a knee guard. So for adventure riders rather than the dual sport crowd.

    I just picked up one of these in the city, was looking for a new jacket. I remembered this video when I was trying to decide between the rev-it torque mesh jacket and this one. I went with the klim, can't wait to wear it now. Should go great with my rev-it mesh pants or klim outrider's (which are basically D30 armored carrharts). Needed something lighter than my rev-it sand 2 jacket.

    You had me at Zero Velcro!
    Good to hear about the zippers. I'm not happy with the main zipper in particular on the Badlands Pro Jacket but the others are almost impossible to operate while riding. The main zipper, I fight it every time I put it on. At $1200+ I expected more I guess.

    Great review. I have a marrakesh jacket and thinking of buying a carlsbad jacket with badland pro pants (Carlsbad not in stock in 40 short). With all the vents on the carlsbad jacket and badland pants, I would have thought they would have been cooler. I find my marrakesh doesn't flow much air as the mesh is pretty tight. Love the fit though hence why I bought it in the first place.

    @DorkintheRoad I'm torn between the Baja s4 and Marrakesh Jacket. The latest reviews that I have seen show some changes to the 2.0 jacket, like only one vest pocket, no adjustment straps at the elbows. If you were to buy today, what jacket would you buy at this price point for summer riding? Its first big trip will be May 28th on the Black Hills BDR-X. Also, I am 6' 250lbs so not sure if I should go 2x or bigger? I've heard KLIM actually fits us bigger guys but haven't had the opportunity to try it.

    • @Curious_Skeptic

      Good to know. 5'6" 240 lbs (or there about, lol). Hard to find gear! I don't care about the cost if it keeps me cool and safe! Hoping to also get Helite backpack. I can't see wearing any of the airback vests in the summer without roasting to death! For what Harley get's for their poser gear, I'd rather own something that wears well and keeps you comfortable.

    Just saw this review. I guess it popped up because I was researching the Marrakesh. Great review and I am so happy that you mentioned the lack of a waterproof pocket. May have to consider these pants. I have a pair of Latitude pants as kind of do it all, no shell needed deal. • @mike.thomas
    @mike.thomas 3 роки тому +2

    I just got my pants (in black) and the jacket (asphalt) is on the way. I kind of wish I’d watched this first.
    I agree the fabric and construction is overall fantastic. But re the pants, folks should know that while they stretch, there is no stretch in the waist. Mine fit (I wear 40 jeans, which leaves me good room, and the Klim 38 fits just the tiniest bit snugger,). I’d still say size up if you’re not sure, because that waist, which is Cordura, would be painful if it’s digging in.
    Also, as you mentioned toward the end, no connection between pants and jacket is dumb and there are also no suspender affordances. The pants are fairly low-rise, so I worry just a bit about losing them in a crash, unless I cinch them down pretty snug with a belt, and then I’m back to possible discomfort at the waist over the long haul. On final complaint is that the legs are not gusseted, or zippered, or snapped, or velcroed. It’s just a boot cut hem. Some may like it, but I like some adjustability there.
    All that bitching out of the way, I can’t wait to try them out on a ride because I see the serious potential for comfort. If we can just get out of this 70 degree dew point weather in my fair state 😬.

    There is no such thing as a hot weather (Summer) ventilated armored jacket that is comfortable on the East Coast of the United State Summertime. All of these Spring/Fall jackets have liners, and the liners retain all the heat of the body. If somebody just made a chain mesh garment that held the armor at the elbow, shoulders and back, I would buy it. But nobody’s smart enough to do that. Hint; if it’s water repellent, it’s going to be hot as hell in the summer months😂

    How does the Marrakesh compared to the Icon Field Armor Shirt for being cool in hot weather?

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  3 роки тому +2

      Field Armor flows more air but offers almost no slide protection for the highway. The Marrakesh is comfortable enough up to about 90-95. There's a definite airflow/safety trade off there.

      @@DorkintheRoad thanks! I’ve had a Marrakesh for the last year and love it. It’s definitely great up to 85* beyond that it starts to get a little uncomfortable with our humidity here in the SE. been looking at other options and understand the trade offs.

    I've been looking real hard at these. I have mesh gear, but only wear it on my Monkey going through town, because I'm not sure it would stand up to a slide on the highway.

    Hi Ben,
    Great review😊👍
    I am really tempted to purchase this jacket in grey colour but wanted to ask you about how this colour handles dirt/mud, dust and stains.
    Since you've already put this gear to test in a desert ride, could you share how easy/difficult is grey colour to maintain in real world scenario?
    Also, since this jacket is not machine washable, it would be super helpful if you could make an informative video on how to correctly clean this jacket when it becomes dirty.
    Thank you in anticipation

      Mine looks just about as gray as the day I bought it. Maybe slightly faded but I've used it a ton. I wash mine in the washing machine...am I not supposed to? Just take the armor out and wash it on cold/gentle, then hang it up to dry. No permanent stains.
