It's pretty much note perfect apart from a couple of slightly off harmonies early on which could easily be just getting used to the vocal monitoring or mix which might have been adjusted during the song. I also like that it's not just a star and a backing band - everyone gets their moment in the spotlight here.
This is Sailors All Time Classics Please don't lose this song. It is a Classic even in this era,100%.........Forever. Back in 75 F'.......ckng Sensational.
Bennie B I totally agree. I knew Kajanus when he was with Eclection and they played my club at the end of the Sixties. Now I hear he is creating classical music in Denmark. Extraordinary.

I saw Sailor play live at the "Empire Theater Liverpool" just after they had put their first single out in the UK I guess around 1978, I was only a kid of 17 or 18 and have loved everything they did from that day to this. fantastic band.
First single i ever bought! Awesome to see this talented band live. The camera-director should be fired though; doesn't even seem to know the song and continiously places the camera on the wrong person.
Very cool find, early Sailor live on TV before their Glass Of Champagne fame. Check out the Nickelodeon, much cooler than the later versions. They also didn't have a base player and still got that sound. Great.
Great live performance but if would've helped if the director knows the song; he obviously doesn't and continiously shifts to the wrong camera. I'ld fire him.
Even if you knew the song you might not know who was featured on each vocal part without a couple of run throughs which might not have been available. If so, that's a producer error, not director. So it's hard to say. Having been in the hot seat doing lights for bands I know that without a couple of run throughs it's hard work even if you know the song. You need one to just decide on what works, but having a second to do a dress rehearsal really helps.
They both seemed to have a bit of musichall influence, amongst many others. Madness and The Specials too. You can hear a big dollop of 1960s (Beatles, Byrds) too in XTC, more 1930s coming through in Sailor.
Beautiful song. I’v loved it since 1977 ❤
Great fingerpicking on the Ovation 12-string guitar !!
Vastly underrated. What a great live performance too.

Oh, and they did some really well-written and catchy pop songs.
One of Sailors best Classics

Wat klonken ze goed live, en nog steeds goed. Heb ze vorig jaar nog live gezien. Helaas zonder Georg. Jeugdsentiment ten top.
fantastic song and fantastic live performance. thank Nickelodeon Nights for posting it.xxxx
Like Georg's fingerpicking on the 12-string guitar !! High class
Ooo, the uncensored version! "Sailor, get your ass into town!" Love it!
Yes, indeed! 'Is it true what they say ...?'
Toller Rythmus,

Die Musikladen Live-Version ist wirklich zehn mal besser als die Single, von der ich ziemlich enttäuscht war.
blijft goed

Brilliant band. XTC's English settlement sounds a bit like this btw
