The biggest surprise for me with my new Telluride was thaat it got much better MPG than I expected. I get between 24 and 25MPG in city driving, and I have actually gotten 30.1 HWY MPG. It also has better acceleration than I expected. the 3.9L engine seems just perfect for this luxury suv.
I had the worst experience having a Kia car. This was my first time I chose Kia because I liked the car that I was going to lease. The previous two cars that I drove were Toyota and they never ever gave me problems that usually an older car gives (one Problem on top of another). Thanks for the detailed review mentioning both the great and not so great aspects. This vehicle is a real value no matter what trim you decide to buy.
@@zraybroske2416 That's true. But my family (2 adults, a teenage daughter and a big dog) keep the 3rd row stowed more than 90% of the time. If we needed to seat 6 or 7 passengers on a regular basis I'd opt for the Telluride. But for the 10% (or less) time the third row is necessary, it's huge convenience compared to taking two vehicles.
@UA-cam Fan - Good for you man. I would say for you to keep it. If it's so close to being yours completely, don't stray the course. The Telluride will be around after your current one is paid in full. But do consider your insurance payments.
Oddly enough KIA (and other automakers) configure their models to maximize profit. They don't "give" stuff away. KIA jealously protects its reputation for a strong "value proposition" and that means significantly undercutting comparable rivals in terms of MSRP.
I think that the 2022's will all have LED headlights. They got dinged too much on safety for their cruddy headlights. They put them on all of the new Sorrento's, so I am thinking maybe. I hate that to get LED lights on the EX, you have to lose the bench seat.
Liked and subscribed. I was glad to hear about the other specific reviews that you have on this vehicle. Love LED headlights and illuminated door handles, hate manual tilt-teliscope, but also love good ride quality.
First, there is no perfect vehicle. That being said here are my thoughts so far. I ordered the Telluride SX-P back in early Feb 2020. With everything that was happening the vehicle showed up at the end of Aug. I was ready to cancel and move on. I was about ready to order a Tesla model Y instead. Overall I really like the vehicle. Fit and finish are excellent. Features versus cost is just fantastic. The safety features are truly amazing for what you get. I am nearly 6'5" and this is really a comfortable vehicle. The dashboard layout is easy to setup and look at. The Heads Up Display is one of best features. It is an easy vehicle to drive and very nimble to maneuver for it's size. That is a lot going for the Telluride, plus I really like the name (as if that matters!) As for what is ok... Drivewise (autopilot) works extremely well on the highway. I find it hit and miss off the expressway. Long stretches of road it works fairly well, as long as the line paint is good. It is a good feature and I do like it, however, you really need to pay close attention off the expressway. A safety feature that is missing is Smart Braking Assist. I have another vehicle that is now 5 years old and it has it. That is a glaring oversight with all this safety features. Another feature missing is express windows down when approaching the vehicle on a hot summer day all the windows will automatically go down to start to circulate the air. I know with remote start/remote app you can start and cool the car. However, this is faster than playing with the phone. As for the engine, yes this big vehicle needs a bit more power. Is it a show stopper no. But, I came from a car that was much faster. As for space for hauling, it does the trick for me. I was thinking about a minivan, however, I just can't come to grips doing that. A male thing I guess. So, this is the best of both worlds. So, I would give this 9 out of 10. What I can't tell is the reliability as I have never owned a Kia. Time will tell.
I read your review. Long paragraphs and all. It was helpful. Just keep in mind that it is much easier to tear down than build up. I guess these trolls need go home for some more home trainin'. Hello Nolan and fellow subscribers! I'm going to share with you THREE additional minor but annoying/unexpected cons about the Telluride here. I have a 2021 top trim Nightfall SX in gravity grey. 5000kms later (yes I'm in Canada :)), I noticed: 1) the overhead glasses holder is actually smaller than my previous 2011 and 2016 Sorentos, 2) The centre console little storage is ALSO smaller than the old Sorentos (where the wireless phone charger is!) In fact, when I plugged in the SAME USB memory stick I had used in the old Kias into the port for music, it got STUCK behind the closed piano-black door/lid!! I had to use my son's smaller hand to wiggle it out of the port in order to free the door!!! 3) Has anyone noticed the position of the FRONT windshield wipers?! They're recessed into the hood, good luck raising the wiper arm to change the blade or to clean under it!! I can't raise it to clear the snow/ice collected underneath oh no! Anyway, I believe you got three really good review points from me. Thank you and look forward to seeing more of your videos :)
Hello and thank you for being a subscriber! Those are all good to know! It’s always great to hear from owners who can point out things like that. Thank you for sharing and hope you enjoy the rest of your time with your Telluride!
Hi Spencer. Fortunately I haven't noticed any odor issues in the 2021 Telluride. I have had it for four months now ✌🙂...planning on keeping it that way!!
Hi, there. As far as your wipers are concerned there should be a way to put them into "service" mode that raises them slightly to enable replacement of the blades. Check your owner's manual or call your dealer. As far as your other problems, wear smaller glasses and be grateful that you have a son with small hands. :)
@@stephenhendricks103 LOL! Great to read in your other comment that you've had two earlier Sorentos like me! Did you end up buying the Telluride after negotiating with your wife? Good luck in the next purchase!
This is a solid SUV but every dealership in my area is marking them up 5k-10k over MSRP because they’re in such high demand. Basically 60k OTD and people are actually paying for it... freaking crazy...
No matter how good the car is, I am not paying over MSRP, that 5k to 10k not going to add on the value , that mean you already lose 15k after buying it .
That's not a universal problem. My KIA dealer NEVER puts a second "market adjustment" sticker on their vehicles. The downside of that approach, of course, is that the waiting list for the Telluride is even longer than for some other dealers in the area.
Kia really seems to be giving customers the most bang for their buck. However, I've had some bad experiences with Kia in terms of reliability. Has Kia made any progress in that department?
Dang sorry I don’t think I put it in the description, sorry about that. ua-cam.com/video/pz_wwwV1udQ/v-deo.html That video is still an SX model (that’s what they sent) but I try to cover all features and tell you which features are on each trim level. It’s long at 39 minutes but it’s pretty detailed
The Explorer is RWD or RWD-biased AWD. That gives it a somewhat higher tow rating (5600 lbs vs 5000 lbs) and somewhat different driving dynamics if that's important to you. Otherwise, however, the Telluride is superior to the (non-hybrid)Explorer in terms of virtually every feature with an MSRP thousands of dollars less for a comparable model.
@@stephenhendricks103 It is not thousands less , and Ford has way more incentives currently . The Explorer is cheaper. However i would go with the telluride , unless you tow often. The turbo on fords 2.3 will be superior on light towing because of the low end torque.
@@calebniederhofer6529 Not surprising that Ford offers incentives to move unsold Explorers off dealer lots while there are months' long waiting lists for top trim Tellurides. As far as the 2.3L 4 cylinder turbo on the Explorer, it's a fine engine for a 3500 lb Ecoboost Mustang. On a two and a half ton fully loaded Explorer it's seriously overstressed. Not that Ford has to worry as much about durability given their drive train warranty is approximately half that of the Telluride. Furthermore, despite the Explorer's RWD and RWD biased AWD that should be an asset for towing, the Explorer's tow rating for the 2.3L turbo is only 300 lbs more than the Telluride with its 3.8L V6. Bottom line? If towing is a priority there are far better choices than the Explorer.
@@stephenhendricks103 I simply responded to the comment saying the Telluride was thousands cheaper lol. I am very knowledgeable on both of these . People get caught up on engine size , and make claims simply because it is a small engine , when internals are what matters. Ford torture tested the crap out of the EB motors. I own a 2.7 myself second gen. As far as a mid size , the Explorer will tow better , because of the considerably more low end torque, as well as power. So what i said is accurate, as far as if you tow often. The EB will handle high elevation, mountains much better being turbo charged. Otherwise the Telluride is the better all around choice in my opinion. As far as reliability i would own either . Maintenance is a must on any Engines with Turbos. I will say power is the drawback to the Telluride , although adequate for most.
I WISH this car wasn't expensive (for me). I have been looking for an upgrade from my current vehicle and this is first car that I really genuinely like! Bummer ):
@@PrimeAutotainment Thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate your videos. Quick question... What do you think about the 2020 Jeep Compass? Overall, is that car worth it? I'm starting to think it isn't.
Great review on this. Put a down payment on a SX Prestige with Nightfall in Wolf Grey. 6-8 month wait! Stoked but it's for my wife. What grade fuel should you put in this? Do you happen to know?
I would definitely consider buying this if I needed a three row SUV! But if I needed to go bigger I'd go for the Yukon Denali XL! Minivans are still supreme so the Kia Carnival is my choice!
As a new 3-row, all around I would say this or Palisade. Only time will tell with reliability and resale value factored in though
4 роки тому+2
I’d call it a tie between the Telluride and Palisade which are essentially corporate cousins. It had been said that the same engineering team worked on both , with engineers hired away from Audi and Mercedes. While similar, Palisade was supposed to be designed to be marketed to women while Telluride was supposed to be marketed more to men. Either of these luxury suv is an excellent choice .
@ Rather than different appeals to genders, a better way to think about the difference between the Telluride and the Palisade is that the Telluride is built in the US and sold almost exclusively in North America. (It's not even offered in Korea.) It's meant to compete with Americans' preference for SUVs with a more "rugged" vibe. The Palisade is built in Korea and sold internationally where its major rivals are base versions of luxury SUVs, often from European automakers. It's "near" or "budget" luxury vibe reflects that appeal.
Thinking about trading in my 2019 BMW 5 Series 530i xdrive with 79,000 miles(VERY CLEAN STILL LOOKS NEW) for this exact model in the video. They want $43,000 for the Telluride, with 23,000 miles. What do you guys think?? Is it worth it. Incite please.
It’s disgusting how Kia is upcharging the Telluride due to its popularity. I was gonna trade in my Optima for one, until I saw a $3995 charge on top of sticker price. It turned me off to buying one. It’s a shame, because it’s such a good SUV.
I'm actually getting ready to go to Kia in the next hour I'm hoping that I'll be able to get one of these they have some kind of deal going where they pay off whatever you have and put you in the something with either low payments for a long time no credit and everything they're talking about so I'm going to check it out and see what I can do but I really want one of these LOL
@@PrimeAutotainment No problem. I wasn’t aware it was only SX and EX AWD models. We both learned something 👍. Also good job on the video really enjoyed it. I own a 2021 SX AWD and love it. I previously owned a 2020 EX FWD. They both have been awesome but wanted some of the other features and the AWD so I got a newer SX.
Kia Telluride is so amazing 💯👍 I have one ... and I loved But the versión #kia in Canadá is better than the United Estates in transmisión modes( have more options ) and also when you put weigth around 180- 200 pounds on the back seat or trunk you feel the differnce how the Suv trade to pull that's weigth and fall down.
Hey all you reviewers why don’t you address the GDI engines carbon build up problem on GDI engines, Toyota I believe have engineered a fix but Kia/Hyundai has not, creates major problems and expense around the 50,000 mile mark.
In a previous Telluride and Palisade video I complained about that. This is the latest version of the 3.8L that’s been around for a while..but this application hasn’t been around long enough to know. Toyota uses port injection with their direct injection, that’s their solution. Ford does the same thing in some engines. I agree with you though, 100% gdi engines scare me and it’s a shame that nearly every company uses this technology
@@PrimeAutotainment One of the more enduring urban myths with regard to GDI engines. It's a rare and easily remedied issue when it does occur. Furthermore, the problem is not universal among GDI engines. Instead, it appears to be the result of the design of intake tracks rather than valve design. It's most prevalent among small displacement VW engines and is rare even there. On the other hand it has provided KIA dealers with an additional source of profit by offering to proactively protect the engine with head cleaning. Finally, the new GDI engines from Hyundai fitted on 2021 models from Hyundai, KIA, and Genes have adopted dual injection mainly to quiet the concern.
The biggest disappointment in Kia for me was the dealership experience. I owned BMWs before, and every purchasing experience was a breeze. Kia dealer would try to nickel and dime you for everything, just a $750 doc fee was a fun thing to discuss:) Why did I have to fight over a 3K markup during a pandemic where every customer is a blessing everywhere? This is a thing with these budget brands - even while their cars get better and in some cases (like this one) can match many upper class traits...dealer network cannot adjust to a more luxury car performance. Too bad, as I won't be getting a Kia anymore after this lease ends. I value my nerves more than extra 20k. Because mental health is more valuable than brain suck during talks with these bottom-feeder sales managers.
It just lacks the performance we are looking for. Almost bought one, after my brother bought one. Thanks for the detailed review mentioning both the great and not so great aspects. This vehicle is a real value no matter what trim you decide to buy.
Great job. And thank you. We are getting this car because of your review. Mahalo 🤙🙏
Very nice, enjoy!
I was thinking between Telluride and Highlander. You helped me to choose. Telluride
I bought the 2021 NightFall Edition. Love it but you can’t get the Night Fall under 50K.
Sure you can. EX trim and probably just shy of $50,000 on the SX without prestige.
That is the one I want. Hoping to trade in my 2017 Sorento and get it this weekend.
You Explained very well thanks I am going to buy new one thanks
I like the Telluride, but I would roll with the Sorento instead. It looks better and seems to be more fun to drive. Very awesome stuff Nolan 👏
Thank you Key! Definitely, I’m excited to see it..hopefully soon
The new Sorento is slick. But the 3rd row is key, telluride is much more spacious.
@@zraybroske2416 - Yes, it is more spacious, but if I need a third row for seating I will just invest in a minivan.
I noticed the Rockwall Texas location. I live in Rockwall too!
Very nice, hello fellow Rockwallian!
I’m driving a 2021 Desert Moss with Butterscotch interior SX and it was worth the wait!!! Checks all my boxes!
How long was your wait? We ordered in September and were told 8-10 months. We are patiently waiting 😆
In terms of driving and ride comfort , do you think this is better than a CX-9 Signature?
Which mainstream SUV do you think has the best ride quality in terms of comfort?
I love the Telluride.I want to buy me a telluride by the next year.2023 also would like the three row seats four-wheel drive.
Best value for your money in the class
And Kia should give you standard LEDs headlights expect the base mode
Agreed Miguel!
Fantastic.Hope to acquire it the middle of ds year.I will pray for it.
Is the Apple CarPlay wireless or do you still have to plug it in
I like this car, I can pay more if I am going to get better features & reliability, so, any suggestions ?!
I just bought the EX AWD for under $50,000
Nice, does it have a diesel engine?
I have a 2018 kia stinger gt2 awd, but this thing is amazing looking. I want both.
This wasn't a kia stinger review Noone cares that you own one there honestly gay as hell
Fantastic reviews with enough details about telluride great job keep it up n God bless you and your channel 💐💐💐
I like KIA, my first KIA was Optima. Now I am getting this.
@MiaTheGamer But spend 26 minutes watching a video? Otherwise, if you are in the market it just another point of view!
@MiaTheGamer A stark reminder of the failure of the educational system.
I read your review. Long paragraphs and all. It was helpful. Just keep in mind that it is much easier to tear down than build up. I guess these trolls need go home for some more home trainin'. No one expects a reply to a comment or review to look like or follow essay format. I thank you for your time and effort in providing an additional perspective to aid in my car buying research.

Kia is stepping they game up I have the 2016 Kia Sorento sport it’s very nice and comfortable
Have you noticed any Odor issues like what has been reported in the 2020 models?
Its a beautiful car It'd have been nicer if they gave it the full digital cluster from the genesis and the newer hyundai sonata
Any clue if it will be a plugin in the future?
This is a solid SUV but every dealership in my area is marking them up 5k-10k over MSRP because they’re in such high demand. Basically 60k OTD and people are actually paying for it... freaking crazy...
No matter how good the car is, I am not paying over MSRP, that 5k to 10k not going to add on the value , that mean you already lose 15k after buying it .
@@kromahj Agreed, some people are just really not thinking clearly.
@@timohtyhwang6330 sad
That's not a universal problem. My KIA dealer NEVER puts a second "market adjustment" sticker on their vehicles. The downside of that approach, of course, is that the waiting list for the Telluride is even longer than for some other dealers in the area.
@@stephenhendricks103 my 3 local dealership have alot, so why people on waiting list
Telluride is amazing
So do all sx come with night mode or is that the nightfall
Imagine the Telluride with the 3.3L twin turbo V6 from the Stinger/G70?
Great review. Its on my top list
Thank you!
Got me a nightfall all black edition love it
Kia really seems to be giving customers the most bang for their buck. However, I've had some bad experiences with Kia in terms of reliability. Has Kia made any progress in that department?
I’ve had terrible experiences with the Kia dealers. Thank God I got a pretty good one, I would hate to have to deal with those money hungry bastards.
I have the same exact car, white and AWD but I can’t start the car remotely
Hard to find any manufacturer that offers more value than Kia.
I have a 2014 Kia Soul, my family has a 2021 Kia Seltos, and we are looking at a Kia Telluride👀
Needs dual quad exhaust.
Can’t seem to find the video comparing the different trim models.
Dang sorry I don’t think I put it in the description, sorry about that.
ua-cam.com/video/pz_wwwV1udQ/v-deo.html
That video is still an SX model (that’s what they sent) but I try to cover all features and tell you which features are on each trim level. It’s long at 39 minutes but it’s pretty detailed
Excellent review 🙌🙌🚘
Great review.
We love the kia telluride looking to purchase after our lease is up, Quick question do you think it's better Suv then the ford Explorer
@@stephenhendricks103 thanks so much for responding this really helps us.
Bummer ):
It’s a nice one for sure! Wait a bit and maybe grab a used one at some point. Supposedly these have been selling over MSRP due to demand, crazy
@@PrimeAutotainment Thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate your videos. Quick question... What do you think about the 2020 Jeep Compass? Overall, is that car worth it? I'm starting to think it isn't.

I would definitely consider buying this if I needed a three row SUV! But if I needed to go bigger I'd go for the Yukon Denali XL! Minivans are still supreme so the Kia Carnival is my choice!
Just subbed due to your detailed and highly informative review. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Dimensionally ???
What is the best in this class?
As a new 3-row, all around I would say this or Palisade. Only time will tell with reliability and resale value factored in though
Is this the Kia vehicle that people are saying looks like a Land Rover/Range Rover?
It’s disgusting how Kia is upcharging the Telluride due to its popularity. I was gonna trade in my Optima for one, until I saw a $3995 charge on top of sticker price. It turned me off to buying one. It’s a shame, because it’s such a good SUV.
Love this
I want one 😩
You’re a woman. You will get what your husband lets you have.
Would anyone mistake this for a Cadillac?
Did they copy from range Rover
I just don’t understand, how as consumers have we agreed to pay these prices...
I know it. I sure haven’t lol
You were wrong about the heated steering wheel. Only AWD models get that heated steering wheel no matter what trim you have.
Dang you’re right, I never realized that. Still just the EX and SX only though sadly. At least in the US. Thanks for the correction 👍

But the versión #kia in Canadá is better than the United Estates in transmisión modes( have more options ) and also when you put weigth around 180- 200 pounds on the back seat or trunk you feel the differnce how the Suv trade to pull that's weigth and fall down.

😍😍😍
It just lacks the performance we are looking for. Almost bought one, after my brother bought one. I have a family of four, and we regularly pack up our SUV with camping gear, and head to, Yosemite National Park. We did that with my brother's AWD Telluride, and the vehicle performance was shockingly bad in that situation. We have since decided to look elsewhere.
