Some of my favorites from the year: 1. Prerecorded draft - The draft is one of my favorite parts of LoL but quite frankly I’m in the minority on that and I’m glad the broadcast made this change. I can’t sit and watch every single game nowadays but I can definitely catch more of them because of this. 2. The LCS final ceremony / sendoff - I thought it was a real, genuine gift to veterans of the LCS, players, staff, community figures, and even viewers. Playing Warriors was the icing on the cake.
I really appreciate you making a positive video. The vast majority of people who never attend the tailgates missed out on how truly wonderful the Immortals staff were. It's unfortunate that the management for that org were incompetent and uncaring. Hell yeah, let's go Mark!
I will interact in this video a lot more than I usually do (thus the comment) because I believe that the LCS has done so much positive things this year and I wish that this video will be pushed harder to LCS viewers and LTA potential audience. This year has had a lot of turmoils like the merger, but I think the LCS teams led by MarkZ has done a very great job, and I'm looking forward to the LTA season knowing that it's still mostly the same people running it behind the curtains
Too much glazing for a man that created a mid split break.. total trash schedule to have 2-3 weeks off in the middle and he justifies it as a viewership success
@@CB38096 It wasn't his decision, Riot wanted teams to get that sweet sweet Saudi Oil Prince money for their sportswashing, I'm sure Markz had no control over that. $$$ talks, fan sentiment when not having to pay to watch the product doesn't.
pretty sad though that the best decision they made was going back to what had been the standard for a decade. we all knew it was better and riot accepted killing off the LCS in order to promote Valorant, which also isnt doing so hot.
@@CB38096 That's how having corporate overlords works - they make bad decisions and you have to defend them and come up with ways to pretend they were good decisions.
I may be the odd one out but i honestly barely noticed the fact that the lcs on the live patch, and i watch lck and lec as well and if the didn't remind us of the fact that "remember, lcs is on the live patch !" at the start of every series i think i would've honestly forgotten about it.
I think the Bo3 were a massive boon to NA for international success. having more experience doing series was a good change. a bit sad they are reverting it.
Great video, sad about losing the LCS brand, but I'm so excited for 2025. Having a commish like Mark who has such a love for the esport was the shot in the arm we needed
markz & team really do bring me a lot of excitement and hope for the league. there was a worry in the back of my mind at first that this might turn out to be a sort of "get this fan favorite guy in here to milk one more good year" situation. i worried hed just be put in front of the community to build hype and nothing else, but right out the gate they made major changes pretty much all for the better. obviously the community engagement from him is great too but they have been doing a great job all around. really put my worries to rest
Honorable Mention: TL winning games over T1 in MSI and ESports World Cup. Sure they lost the series, but that first win at MSI over the GOAT and GOAT org felt like the rapture
Sad you didn't mention NA's performance at internationals this year, TL in spring/summer and FLY's 180 at worlds made me excited to watch NA at internationals again. I told my friends who had stopped watching pro league to watch FLY v GEN cuz I thought they might actually win and they started believing too.
@@itstwoAs But he said "the best things to happen in LCS" and I'd say it was a pretty important thing, driving some international audiences to tune into LCS for once
Honorable mention: Impact winning MVP. Showing that anyone, even a "boomer" can still play at the highest level and that long careers are possible in esports
last video of the year, but many more next year. i'm hoping and praying every year for NA to come out on top at worlds. i don't play as much league anymore, but i still watch and consume the content.
I think I’m in the minority about weekends. For me, one the best things about this past worlds was being able to watch it/listen to it during my work day. I like waking up to seeing there’s a game to watch or catch up on. However, I wasn’t a fan of LCS playing at 5PM PST though.
makes me wonder if the lcs also should have had a dose of humility its facing swallowing and avoiding that would also create that really sort of connected loyal fanbase Instead of constantly trying to create hype while the underroots and belly die. If you live in fear of people seeing your product one way because you need to pump a bunch of money into it, thats probably not good. Although its true people are scared to settle in and people are fickle and dont really enjoy much unless theres a glaring light shining in their eye constantly, they find it hard to enjoy life, but appealing o that very fickle, autistic/adhd fan base will drive any man and people, and playerbase, into a mad frenzy and insanity.
live patch did not do much for LCS, what were you watching? remember when camille support was OP for weeks and it never showed up in LCS? all the other picks that got seen in Korea/China/Europe before LCS? the pros were too afraid (for the most part, some like Insanity did do cool things) to do anything interesting and we saw Renekton/Ksante and Tristana/Corki countless times.
Also to add to this i don't think the influencer orgs are that special at all. i'm not more inclined to tuned into a DSG game than i was IMT. DSG was awful in LoL this year, they bombed out of NA Valorant so hard that they swapped to Asia instead and also came up short there. there has been nothing of growth from them since the initial hype which is starting to fade off. they were only picked because of the name while other more deserving teams were passed over. it was one of the worst decisions for this new format.
The cut down on dead time between games, is crazy beneficial. I was able to watch more and was likely to turn off the stream in between matches.
Watching worlds and remembering how much dead time there used to be between games was a real eye opener. For sure the best change
Love how Markz cut down on dead time in between games only to create breaks for 2-3 weeks mid split. Ultimate dead time
This is my personal #1, huge buff

Markz glaze video XD
highkey the move back to the weekend was so much better than weekday. Favorite decision this year for me.

The faster turnaround between games was goated

I’m glad you put in “talk your split” Ik kind of a cringe name, but by then end of summer I liked it because of the personalities on display
Yeah I can see people disliking the phrase but the content making people like the phrase was great work on their part.
Markz did great
League had cool storylines
W year

Thanks, Travis for another year of covering the scene we love. And thanks to Mark Z and the team for turning on the afterburners in 2024

I wouldn’t rly consider that something that Riot did or created

Totally agree about Markz, NAs goat frfr. He's actually the only reason i plan on watching LTA, he's earned my trust
Honorable mention: Impact winning MVP. Showing that anyone, even a "boomer" can still play at the highest level and that long careers are possible in esports
Good luck Travis! I hope this video does better than your worst things of 2024 vid
I'm really excited for LTA next year, I hope its crazy competitive and creates rivalry with brazil
shocked fly quest not winning was not here. always good to see a new org winning and its fitting since the lcs is over.
glad to see the humble pie with bo3
there is some stuff about the future that is uncertain, and there is some stuff about the future that is exciting.
ain’t it the truth.

I do agree that watching LCS at work was really cool (office job) but moving it to the weekend I was able to go to 5x more games in person.
Good to see some positive content,
Thanks for putting out some positivity.
A rare positive video from Mr gafford respect
I'm here to support the positive video vs the negative one 😂
Liking and commenting just for this existing. Will comment later with specific feedback!
Specifically liking and commenting on this video over the other one
Hi, love and support for 2025 from Germany ❤🎉 Happy New Year, everybody!
Completely agree with #1.
wow the being 36 with no relationship and being called a boomer hit me way too damn hard.
Finally a positive video, 🐐
I agree with the #1 - we love Markz!!!
What is this LCS you talk about?
Your facial hair is on point, Travis.
Mark is goated AF!!
MarkZ was biggest W by a long shot
what the heck i thought this was a project K channel
The average life expectancy of a man is 75 or something so 36 IS infact mid life my friend...I hit it this year
It was 79 pre COVID!!! I'm mid life at 40 baby!!!

He says “that cool thing they did on Sunday I forget the name.”
Yeah I don’t think that was a big addition.
It's a joke
@Okay, makes sense now. 😁
Immortals leaving the LCS killed it. It got replaced by shitter Brazilian teams no one ones 4,700 miles away.

Mayyyyybe this video will get less views because you dropped it at 1130pm central?
UA-cam will tell you that post time doesn't have much to do with long term success of a video.
