Yes! It worked for me & I never made it to the 2.4 injection. I was 218 lbs in July '21. 7 mos later I was down 86 lbs. I walked 1.5 - 2 miles daily & ate sensibly while fasting (14 hrs between my last & next meal). I had nausea the 1st 2 wks, that was it.
Wegovy saved my life. Insurance didn't pay, however, the manufacturer offered a sizeable discount that allowed me to afford it. I've been off of it for 1 month & I've continued to exercise & am maintaining.

      @@cindyleeger I'll actually be 1 yr out on July 27th & I'm doing great, I've lost a total of 102 lbs.
I'm still walking 1 - 1.5 miles daily, but I'm incorporating more Calories into my daily diet because I don't want to lose any more wgt, just maintain. My A- 1C is 5.2 & my body fat is 8% (I'm 58 y.o.). I've still got some aches/pains w/my bad hip, which was a big part of my motivation to drop the wgt. I'd already had 1 hip replacement in 2019. I've got so much more energy now. I was building muscle as I lost wgt so my tone is good & I've got definition in my arms/back & legs. The skin on my thighs is a little Crepey, but IDC. @@michelebradley7813 that is a fantastic result, absolutely amazing. I’m so happy you are well and keeping the weight off. I hope it will happen for me too. The medication is very back ordered and I see people not being able to find it. I think in the fall things will be better and that is when I’ll get it. I have an rx, but the pharmacy doesn’t have it. I am in my late sixties and was prescribed Ozempic, starting at .25ml and now at .5ml per week. About 1/5 the dose for Wegovy. In the first 120 days I have lost 25 pounds, which is almost 9% of my beginning body weight.
Compared to being famished seemingly every waking hour of my life on the past diets that I have tried, Ozempic seems like a miracle.

I started at .5mg at 237lbs. in November 2021, and I’m now at 2.4mg and weigh 196lbs. My A1C is normal (it used to be around 6) and my cholesterol is now as low as it was 5 years ago with 41 HDL. Wegovy is amazing, I just wonder if I have to STAY on it or not. Fortunately it’s only $20 a month for me with insurance. But it’s sufficiently impressive that I’d stay on it for life. One shot a week is hardly any inconvenience given its many benefits so far!!!

I’m glad it’s been successful for you. The obesity medicine association has been trying to change public views on this to accepting this a chronic condition that deserve comprehensive and chronic treatment. So far data indicates weight comes back if the medicine is stopped but we’ll see if that changes over time.

The medical professionals are always afraid to try new things. Every time I talked to my doctor about weight loss he tells me to go home, diet and exercise. This has been the standard treatment for obesity for over 40 years.......treat yourself. All the while the obesity rate is constantly raising. If this is the real "medical" treatment......then why are there no inpatient obesity clinics (like drug treatment centers) where I can go to get one-on-one coaching with trained fitness trainers, all covered by insurance?
My doctor sent me to a dietician. She showed me a chart on wht to eat, what to avoid, and portion control. She gave me a weekly diet chart that was supposed to to help me. I told her I don't like eating many things on the chart (not by choice, I just don't like them and I gag on them). Her response was that I would have to learn to like them. Really??
I think doctors don't actually want to treat obesity because there is money to be made on taking care of the side affects caused by obesity.
I will be asking my doctor to prescribe Wagovy and see where it goes.

I’m getting Gastric sleeve next month but I’ve been on Contrave since Feb 11 2022. I started at 390(I’m a 44 yr old male, 6’0-6’1) today I’m 319. The medication only cost $99 and I’ve had no side effects. Also insurance(depending on what you have) can pay for it. I’m getting the sleeve because I’m certain I won’t get to 200lb’s on the meds plus I don’t want to be on meds forever. the only problem is that you will have to force yourself to eat. Also one of the medications in the pill is Naltrexone which can help with alcohol addiction. So you really can’t drink on this medication. By the way I am a 100% disabled vet so no I don’t exercise although because my surgery is coming up I’ve been walking more. I have eaten allot healthier but even that wouldn’t of happened without the meds. This is just one medication tho and I’m sure there might be better ones than this possibly even Wegovy but I couldn’t get Wegovy because it was out of stock at the time do to demand. Well I hope this helped and good luck on your wight loss journey.

Hey Dr Scott. Great unbiased opinion! In the USA it comes with a 'black box warning' for potential thyroid cancer. Kidney cancer in mice was another issue. I am mere opinion as an overweight person who is excited by a drug that can make me lose weight, I know without permanent lifestyle changes, we cannot lose or maintain weight. The long term use of this drug for not what it was intended to do may come with serious and detrimental consequences as cancer doesn't pop up overnight 😔

I’m a big fan of lifestyle change as the first treatment plan, but I’m also a big fan of practically admitting many people won’t make that change for any number of reasons. I don’t think this is the best tool in the toolbox but it certainly could be useful to some people

You have to do both once the weight loss slows down. It is a great tool to kick start sluggish metabolism and lose a chunk of weight quickly and easily which can make a huge difference for people who have arthritis and have to lose weight prior to elective surgery but can't exercise much. Good alternative to gut surgery.

Some people have medical conditions that make exercising very difficult. And, when you have said medical conditions that affect your quality of life for a LONG time (say over a year) it's pretyty common for depression and overeating to follow. Come back and comment after you've been diagnosed with a chronic illness and had an injury or two that made you disabled for 6 months or longer.
