Typical of German car manufacturers prices. Provide a basic car that comes nowhere near its competitors with regards to basic equipment that customers expect and then charge you the earth for the extras you would need. The reversing camera or lack thereof is the obvious item to highlight,
Excellent report, thank you. The settings are complex and a proper manual from the manufacturer about 'how to' would be a welcome addition. If ordering check carefully which features are included vs the car you intend to buy.
I don’t understand why you have the e-208, Corsa, Zoe, 500-e, Cat on that list of competitors! There should be the e-308, Megane e-tech, Astra-e, Avenger. The ID.3 corresponds more to that category of cars, don’t you think?
Arguably they're all relevant. Just depends at the way you look at it or indeed compare to the alternatives. For example, the Jeep is a small sized SUV, whereas the ID.3 isn't. Lines from the manufacturers are getting even more blurred these days, with small SUVs and larger hatchbacks looking the same in size.
Just seems more like standard VW cost-cutting vs ever better competition. No rear speakers, drum brakes, smaller screen etc, very expensive "extras" standard on others - bumped the price up a few £k for level of trim it should always have had.
Too little, too late! In the early 2000's, VW had the quality advantage (some models...). Not any more. Releasing a do-it-yourself kit like the ID.3 First, reveals that VW will exploit the customer to be their quality testers (though knowingly submitting the public to a half baked product). I am so sad to be a retired VW-dealer employee, having to admit that there is no way to defend this overpriced half-assed model. They should have taken the lesson for diesel-gate. Tricking and fooling the customer may work for a while. But in the long run...! Look elsewhere; MG, Citroen, Chinese whatever and the lot...
There are so many better EV's out there that I would put my money on before an ID3! I have been a VW fan for over 20 years, having had 13 Golfs...this car was so dated the day it came out, come on VW!! I heard that they had bought a Chinese IT company so that they can sort out their terrible infotainment systems throughout their entire range and sister companies, I hope that this works for them.
disaster in terms of design, not modern, overpriced when this car worth not more than 15k dollars, waste of engineering resources and then they scale up the same design on ID.5?? grim future for this brand if they do not wake up before it is too late
So so expensive with a really crappy interior that would have NEVER been allowed on a VW in all previous years. Welfarish plastic with no buttons and switches, total garbage.
The gen1 did depreciate a lot, although a lot EV’s seem to lose a lot of value. Our Egolf lost way more money in depreciation compared to our ICE version, our ice version (golf) is older, more miles and worth more than our newer lower mileage Egolf 😬

Indeed, it's disappointing that certain things, such as the camera and the rear speakers aren't fitted as standard!

Pleasure, glad you enjoyed the review!

Love lD.3❤

Yeah good points.

Strong feelings there, fair enough!
Wow, back seat passengers no music 🤨
Yup, pretty shocking 🙃
Overpriced and with a lot of the updates that were required in my opinion still not on the newer model.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
❤❤❤
The price is crazy😅
Tesla Model 3 clearly wins for that price. Volvo EX 3 is on the watch too.

That's a lot of Golfs! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

definitely not an design expert.

JUST A MONEY PIT!
How so?

Ah, sorry to hear that! Although, the used market, namely for petrol vehicles appreciated quite a bit recently.
Overpriced cheap plastic junk german cheap box
