I have an ID.3 1st Edition, nearly three years old now. It has headlights that move around when you approach the car - and turn into corners - and selectively dip so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers. It has brake lights shaped like an X. It has a silver strip along the side at the roofline. It has over-the-air software updates (although a couple of times VW has had to recall the car to carry out an update that couldn't be done OTA). None of these features are new to the facelift. The ID.3 is much maligned, by journalists, but much loved by owner drivers. It's a very easy car to drive, very comfortable, quiet, spacious, relaxed, reliable, amazingly cheap to run. It has niggles but these irritate journalists much more than owners - who have time to get used to the car. The sliders below the infotainment screen could do with a backlight but otherwise they work just fine. The two window winders in the driver's door rather than four (not mentioned in this review but in so many others) are actually a good idea. You are highly unlikely to wind down the rear window by mistake to talk to the server in the MacDonalds drive-through. And you can touch a surface just ahead of the buttons for over three seconds, after which you can wind all four windows together with just one button. Some people like the haptic surfaces on the steering wheel, some don't. I don't, but I recognise that it's a small thing and a matter of personal preference. Journalists hardly bother to mention the great qualities of the car. VW really know how to make cars. The doors open and shut precisely, the seals don't leak water into the boot or passenger cabin. The tail-light lenses don't fill up with water, either. The chassis is nicely tuned, the suspension just right, the steering precise but light. The motor is instantly powerful and the throttle mapping progressive. In a car the length and width of a Golf the passenger cabin is as spacious as a Passat while retaining a Golf-size boot - and the turning circle is as tight as an Up! city car. These are the things that really matter, not haptic buttons.
Journalists drive everything, so they know that ALL EV's are easy to drive, comfortable, quiet, reliable and cheap to run. All car doors on modern cars close well, this isn't the eighties. And VW's reliability is fine, but nothing special. The turning circle is fine, but nothing special compared to similar EV's. The ID.3 is a fine car and so are the others. Journalists will focus on the differences.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. We ordered our Family Pro Performance in Nov '21 and got it Feb '23. It's an incredible car, and I feel that it's almost as if the car journalists really had an issue with VW and they'd have badly reviewed the car no matter what. Lots of internet commenters also waded in without actually driving the car. We're a family of 4 and it's our only car. The kids love it. We've gone on holiday with it and it's used for commuting and the school run. The inside is full of empty crisp packets and the boot is full of grass and mud thanks to a tip run and we treat it exactly as we did our old Skoda Yeti. The facelifted version does seem to be quite expensive, and lots of the "standard" kit we have on our car is now an option so I don't think VW are doing themselves any favours there. However, it's a great car and never quite understood the naysayers.
I agree, partly. I received mine in Oct, '23 and it ticks all the boxes as you mentioned (comfortable, spacious, quiet, reliable, etc.) but as drfisheye points out, that's to say for almost if not all electric vehicles. So I do get why journalists seem to nitpick on small details, as that's the only thing (besides range) that really sets these EVs apart. What bothers me the most is how over dramatized they react to the sliders for instance on the infotainment system. I agree, it should've been backlit like the buttons below. However, I've set my climatisation at 20.5 degrees C when I received the car, and I haven't touched it since then. As a journalist/reviewer I get it why you have to mention it, but it's not a big deal (to me) driving this car daily. I'd be much more bothered by the panel gaps of a Tesla for instance, than these buttons not being lit. As you mention, this car has a lot of qualities, and as drfisheye again points out, a lot of this stuff is to become "expected" but if you shop around, and visit dealerships of different manufacturers, it's clear that what you'd expect at these price ranges is far from "common". You'd EXPECT cars to be build well, with proper alignment of panels, without water infiltration issues, etc. and yet there are enough examples where that's the case. To me it's a great, or even better the perfect car for my daily commute.
I bought a mg4 trophy last.month for.25,200 with 4k miles...unbeatable by VW...drives far better for a keener driver them id3....id3 is an average car...not bad but nothing better them that
I have a 2023 ID3 Tour Pro (77KW). I comfortably get 310+ miles and have had no issues with the software. A backlight for heater slider would be useful but you can “hello ID” and have the car adjust the temp if it’s too dark (you remember where the slider is, so it is really not an issue). I am a car enthusiast as much as the next person and IMO the ID3 is a very good car with some new design ideas which work perfectly fine. I have found the quality to be as expected with VW - just more environmentally aware. Again a good thing.
@thetruthful8388 Sweden has some interesting statistics on self-ignition fires as 40% of new cars in Sweden 🇸🇪 are BEVs. 0.004% of EVs caught fire 🔥, compared to 0.08% of fossil cars. Therefore, a fossil car is 20 times more likely to ignite than a battery electric vehicle.
I’d have loved to have seen this comparison with the very final ID.3 prior to the facelift. It makes the pre-facelift cars now look like a serious bargain with 99.9% of the same car underneath.
We have a new Tiguan R and the negative issues about the haptic steering wheel controls had me a little worried. For me it works the same as the old push button steering wheel. The volume control for example can be used by either pushing it like previously or sliding it. Works great. I do not understand the bullshit that many of these supposed car 'experts' go on about.
4:30 Haven't they inform you, that even the first ID cars (could have) had the software update years ago that enables their Over The Air update capability. This function is not unique to the facelifted ID.3. Furthermore, it is applied to all MEB platform cars throguh ID.4 and 5 and Skoda Enyaq. These updates were done free during their first yearly maintenance checkup at the dealer. 5:15 Sure... it doesn't work properly: WHEN YOU ARE NOT TOUCHING THE BUTTON AREA, but the colouring on the dash.
You will be lucky to see a EX30 until summer next year, I was told that the Volvo dealer events are in November, you can order now but blind and expect it eight months after the November launch. You can only order the launch edition which will be close to the VW price. I visited my local dealer last week and that was what they said. I have bought the upgraded ID3 to replace my much loved i3. I take delivery next week. Residual values are all down, it isn’t restricted just to VW so tell me about that!
Ginny is so right, last week I walked into my local dealership in Canterbury last week and looked at a new ID3 2024 model. I was really impressed with the improvements . I take delivery next Tuesday. Volvo EX30 launch event sometime in November. Delivery due if you order blind 8 or so months from then. The Megan’s, Hyundai and Kia all have the charger port in the wrong location for my garage fitted home charger. Nearest MG dealer 20 miles away from me, I have health issues so a local dealer is of primary importance for me. It’s the nearest car to my much loved i3. Sadly that is no longer made😂
I would like to say the ID3, but it needs to be a few thousand cheaper and needs to ditch the haptic buttons and sliders. The looks never bothered me and at least they seem to be sorting out the software.
Unfortunately I live in the US where neither of those vehicles are available. I think I'd go for the MG4 though. If I could afford an Ioniqs 5 that's the one I would replace my 2020 ioniq electric with.
Noticed your car was on 19" tyres. General owner consensus with pre facelift ID3 is that the ride is very good on 18s but can be less good on 19s or 20s on some roads. If someone interested is particularly interested in ride quality I'd definitely recommend trying a car on 18s (which most are, as the bigger wheels are options).
It would be a great £28k Car but anything over for a small non special performance model nah I’d 3 pass. Can’t wait to see what that new baby Volvo does and what price it will come in. Plus we have the new retro Renault 5 and second generation MINI coming out. Plenty of choice and competition. And that’s before we get to the mythological model 2 Tesla or whatever it will be called.
I assume your talking about the EX 30 Volvo its not cheap If I recall its starting about £38k and standard spec is lacking, The refreshed ID3 still costs the same as the new MG4 X Power and then you have say the Fisker Ocean again a £38k - £40k starting price and everything you may need is on the options list and not standard.
Being saddled with the infuriating VAG infotainment system and awful haptic switches in my current Cupra has put me off getting another car from the VW Group.
Those interior quality issues aren't restricted to the ID range, either. Until very recently I had a 2019 VW Tiguan, which had the usual upmarket dashboard in it, and when it went in for its last service I was given a 2022 Golf as a courtesy car and the dash in that was exactly the same as the ID.3 and ID.4 I'd looked at earlier in the year. I was staggered, as the Golf's interior was one of the biggest reasons to get one, and yet they ditched it in favour of a thin shelf-like thing with rubbish plastics, screens that look like afterthoughts and those horrible haptic switches with no backlights so you can't find them. The one saving grace was that the climate control could be controlled without using the infotainment screen, but that again was haptics which were almost impossible to control, especially the temperature. It was a great car to drive, don't get me wrong, but living with that interior would've made me homicidal. The fact the Cupra Born, which is ostensibly an rebadged ID.3, can be so much better appointed inside and for the same money is pretty ridiculous. I went for the Audi Q4 in the end. Still a slightly wedgy dash, but it has proper buttons for things and the infotainment screen looks like it's part of the design.
I've lived with those issues with the Interior on my Golf for last three years. Everyone who comments says the Golf looks so good. My response, it just looks good. Otherwise, it's irritating. And has alot of issues.
I have just been for a ride in my Neighbour's Toyota CHR, top of the range model; the difference in quality between my ID.3 & the CHR is huge; the ID.3 is way superior, much better screen resolution, more logical layout, many more features. The VW ID Infotainment system is best in class by far.
What are you smoking??? Best in class is a joke. Almost all other infotainment systems are better. Personally I hate all touch controp in new cars. iDrive from BMW is still gold for me.
It's interesting that you say they are the same price effectively on finance. However, I would simply pay for the car outright and in this case, the ID3 starts at £37K, whereas the MG4 starts at £27K. So there is a huge difference in price.
ID3 max owner here. Drove a MG4, brilliant, easy to drive. Would certainly consider when my lease is up. Great review, however some thoughts. Charging app is shown separately on the old ID 3 with software version 3.2 so that’s not new. You won’t get 4.6 m/kWh that’s ridiculous. according the lieometer or guessometer you might get 4.2 m/kWh but it’s a lie. Try doing a long range test and we what you actually get. As for winter range expect less than 3m/kWh. Also when you get a test car to try, do you check the tyre pressures. If they are high then maybe you get harsher ride and more noise? Also is the spec of the MG4 the same as the ID3. I bet you get more on the MG4 than the ID3 for the price, for example electric seats, matrix lights (cost option previously), panoramic roof?
Nice one Ginny. Certainly availability of EV's has been an issue but lead times are reducing significantly in the UK anyway. Finance packages are certainly more attractive if that is your preference and 'if' I had to go for the ID.3 or the Vauxhall on a monthly plan the ID.3 would likely win but I've not driven either. In reality I'll wait a while longer. That touch control for almost everything is something that right now is a deal breaker right now. A family member recently got a VW group car (not an EV) and the infotainment screen is not my cup of tea/coffee/wine. at all. Yes you can get used to it but plodding through screens when the car is moving over a less than billiard table smooth road (do we have any of those in the UK?) is far from ideal for me. The rest of the car is pretty OK though. Out of the current VW group EV's I'd consider the Enyaq (I've not driven this either yet) as the touch screen at least has short cuts and if I recall correctly (I could be wrong) has the useful controls illuminated. Thanks for my continued education on EV's They are certainly looking more like a viable option in the future. If only my property had the possibility of a wall box charger.
@@paulholterhaus7084 I could not agree more. It's all down to cost saving. No switches or cabling or the time taken to fit the switches and connect everything up at the expense of usability and arguably safety.
Are VW still saying "suck it up" with LHD wipers, the same haptics, same first gen, smaller centre screen, same fingerprinty piano black? Exterior styling and colour's nice, mind. Cash buyers would struggle not to go for a rwd model Y, I think.
We had an early id3, which was a bit glitchy and we chopped it for an MG4 Trophy (and a pocket of cash) when the market had gone bonkers; much preferred the VW, faults and all to the just-as-glitchy MG - anyway there's a happy ending to the tale as we've now got a Tesla...
As someone who owns an MG4 Trophy, I think my answer is pretty clear. That said, it's not without its flaws and this looks to be a pretty substantial step forward for VW. That said, the TV advert is pretty appalling, isn't it?
I've lived in my Mk7 VW Golf for nearly five years (off & on) and still do... So that redefines the term of a low-rent interior, in fact, nothing has broken so it hasn't cost me a cent
My parents may have been ripped off this week because their PCP term was longer than the warranty on their ID3 and they'd suffered from electrical gremlins recently that their local VW dealer said would be hard/impossible to fix, namely the heating randomly going to max. The correct (in my mind) thing to do would be to insist VW fix it as their warranty expires in April, and to buy an extended warranty. The answer from the dealer was to pay off their PCP early(!) and buy a new ID3 on a new PCP at a much higher rate! Not happy.
VW had to do up their game when SEAT launched their EV, however its no finished article. At that price point, id be tempted with the SEAT or the EX30 , but that appears to be smaller again!
So the most endearing aspect of the new ID.3 is the finance deal? Really?! This is not the first video I've seen recently that raves about a car's finance. And is it really so much cheaper than the Astra? VW charges extra for things that were included six years ago (e.g. tyre pressure monitoring). The ride is harsh and car feels unrefined but if you drive it on the right roads you'll be fine, lol. I'll stick with my Mk7 Golf for a long long time before I consider £40k for a car acceptable. Now add up how much extra the interest on the finance deal adds to the cars over all cost and you'll be shocked.
I waited 15 months for my ID.3 and got it last October. I prefer the look of mine over this new one. Mine also has the matrix led lights which “look around” as you approach so its not new to this updated model. Neither are the “X” lights on the back new, I have those too on my car!! Maybe by the time I got my car the glitches in the infotainment had been ironed out as I’ve never had a problem with mine. You complain about the volume slider Ginny but you can adjust it via the buttons on the steering wheel so it’s not a problem! I’d definitely choose the ID.3 over the MG4 any time; that is one ugly car!! 🤣
VW researchers asked 1000 customers if they prefer physical knobs or touch sliders for temperature controls. All 1000 customers indicated they prefer physical knobs, so VW engineers "listened" and changed touch sliders to... illuminated touch sliders! 😤
Cupra Born looks better inside and out. MG4 is crazy value for money. Volvo EX30 is also a game changer. Modern VWs are so poor when it comes to build quality especiallybwhen you consider what they charge.
Not much was learnt from this video. Adaptive matrix LED headlights was already promised, why is this allegedly new? Does it still have capacitive buttons on the steering wheel? Does it still have 2 buttons for the windows? Does it actually have Augmented Reality HUD? The ID's are meant to be in Australia next year.. but MG beat them to it.
Who pays £42000 to buy a car that is good to drive around town. Just how big is the town they live in??? There’s no way on god’s little green earth would I spend that much money for a car that isn’t great out of town, I mean, you buy a car to travel in not just to drive around town. Who does that??? I still think the Kia Niro is the best value you can get for the money + a 7yrs warranty. Good review tho. Keep up the good work.
The battery and drivetrain Is much better on the id3, and it seems more spacious than the golf, it's only the interior tech and quality which is worse. What else do you prefer about the e-golf? Do you have one?
@@timscott3027 The drive modes are better on the e-Golf, its interior is better (albeit smaller), the efficiency is better regularly seeing over 5m/kWh in the warm and the ride is much better. Yes I've got one and know a few people with ID3s, even one who sold his ID3 to go back to an eGolf. The battery pack in the eGolf has near double the density that it did when the eGolf was built so for the same physical size battery today it'd have a 70kW battery. I don't think I can afford to but in theory I could replace the cells in mine to create a 70kW eGolf.
@@SquareoftheyearFM nice, thank you for your reply. Hopefully they will eventually get the interior up to old quality levels and ditch the annoying haptic buttons.
Fisker Ocean sport is coming sometime. VW will be looking in their rear view mirror for that one. Yes I know Fisker are not exactly delivering the timescale they promised but they still look value for money plus they look great.
What I didn't like about my vw was the rust bubbling up from underneath the paint work round the wheel arches, that never happened on my older wv from years before, it wv using cheeper thinner steal?
This has nothing to do with the steal , but bad broken painting...complain this at your dealer and ask to repair it. Had similar on an Audi 10 years ago and got it repaired for free.
The MG 4 would be my choice when you asked the question and my response hardened the more you review went on. VW are too slow off the mark even with this 'refresh'. Amazing that an established car manufacture like VW are struggling so much. I suspect if they do not get their finger out soon they will be bought out by another manufacturer that isn't struggling so much. (I would like to say Kia or Hyundai but I suspect it will be a Chinese company).
The VW will last far better than the MG4. A friend of mine has a trophy model and the seat, gear selector and interior plastic at 15k miles are starting to age very badly.
The MG4 is a brilliant car, as is the Volkswagen ID 3. But because neither of them could be converted into a small camper, both are out of the equation.
This is ridiculously expensive in The Netherlands. More expensive than Tesla Model 3! I won't waste this type of money on a grocery car that happens to be electric.
MG4 trophy, it's such an easy choice. VW have to really do some magic to be as competitive. You can now get an X Power which is stupidly quick for less than a semi-decently equipped ID3. Just a joke, really. Good effort, but not good enough.
ID3 hands down, classic simple VW design, MG is a bit of a minger on the looks front, mind good if you like to buy cars with the dents already put in for you. But £700 per month when my Vauxhall Ampera costs me nothing per month, when an extra £700 into the mortgage a month is a real saving of £1400 per month because of interest payments.
Until the new steering wheel buttons return & the bigger infotainment screen come to the UK late in 2024 i would not choose VW but although i love the MG4 its does been cheaper in the cabin, as of now i still think a Petrol car is still better value unfortunately.
I’ve got a Cupra Born, which is the cheaper better version of this car. It’s crazy that all the ID3 facelift does is make it almost as good as the Born, which still has the same main downsides. What VAG really needs to do is bring back buttons and knobs. Touch screens and haptic buttons are bloody dangerous! Just because Tesla has a huge touch screen doesn’t mean everyone wants one. The steering wheel should have actual buttons and switches and so should the climate controls and safety features. Number one of the things that should have a button is lane assist and front assist. Lane assist is a complete menace if road markings aren’t perfect and the only way to turn it off when it goes berserk is by not looking where you are going and delving into a laggy, complicated touch screen (not ideal on the motorway when being yanked from left to right). It’s also pretty frightening when you’re car starts doing emergency stops for foliage at low speeds when driving though country lanes and the only way to stop it is to be cautious of getting near twigs or by drilling down trough a complex menu system to turn off a safety feature that turns itself back on every time you start the car back up. It’s not plastic decals or squidgy door trims that will stop me buying another VAG car if they don’t sort their act out! As for “over the air updates”, I’ll believe that when it actually happens.
This just has no wow factor compared to its cousin the #cupraBORN - I think the Golf 8 GTI EV will do well depending upon price & range - impressed with the 5miles/kWh mentioned for the Astra competitor but the £40k is just silly plus the £37k for this is too much compared with the MG4 of Tesla model 3 I agree it’s only when you lease it makes sense but this refresh does look more ‘golf like’ less modern but it hasn’t got the ID7 bigger screen & better infotainment upgrade yet so better wait till the proper upgrade next year
Really nice car, however i dont think VW have done enough and as regards the 24 version well ? MG has it at the moment i think Ginny with the lure of its performance anyway.
VW rushed the original ID.3 and delivered it undercooked, the infotainment is toy like and still looks like it was made from Lego, unfortunately they have been caught up and surpassed by rivals in this segment and the VW brand loyalty isn't enough to make up for what still seems very below par car for that price.
MG4 Long range is c£30k and the standard Trophy edition is c£33k, whereas ID3 will be £37,115-42k (depending on battery size). And that is before the BYD Dolphin is considered. The interior of the ID3 is still awful. Way too much glossy black plastic which is both cheap and a dust/smudge magnet. Then there is the haptic buttons (at least until next year) , a design disaster. Others reports have said that the infotainment system is still slow/laggy - that is down to using a cheap and slow CPU, assuming you can trust the system at all. With really cheap finance deals it might be worth considering (VW must be throwing money at this) but the reality is that at list price it is dead on arrival - a worse car than either the MG4 or BYD for more money than either of those 2. The only people who will buy this are VW enthusiasts or brand snobs.
Thanks... but with sustainability and car-sharing becoming modern lyfestyle, it is always nice to tell us about back seat space and comfort...but maybe i missed this on the original.

Volvo is Chinese. That's a hard no.
Loved my ID3+ 1st had it for 2 years but I couldn't tow trailers, so replaced it with Skoda Enyaq IV80x which does the job brilliantly.
When you see 2021 ones going for sub £19K on Autotrader, is a £38K base new model a good buy….?
Sadly that is no longer made😂
same, passenger side or rear charging ports are an instant showstopper for me
Enjoy your new car!
Would love one. Id3 all the way.
Id3 is currently selling for 120k RMB in China, that is around 17k usd, 16k euro. That is the right price for this kind of car
Don't get led by the lower price 🤫
I wouldn't part with mine for a gold watch! 6.2m/kWh even in some rain and some motorway driving the other day, often see 7m/kWh in better weather.
Agree. Mines on 18", and has DCC. The ride quality is amazing, better than any other car I've driven
Price is irrelevant. Entire industry has moved to car lease model. Anyone who buys a new car outright is subsidising lease and business prices.
Being saddled with the infuriating VAG infotainment system and awful haptic switches in my current Cupra has put me off getting another car from the VW Group.
Does that finance comparison include matching specs, or does the gap reappear when you add heated seats etc?
It still has a vey low rent interior, parts and quality wise compared to an equalivant priced Golf.
There is no panoramic roof option on the MG4
@@BarryWardUKor Matrix head lights
Just give Me simple switches, Like the old Days.......Worked fine.......No Menus to screw with....Paul
MG4 on looks alone 🙂
We had an early id3, which was a bit glitchy and we chopped it for an MG4 Trophy (and a pocket of cash) when the market had gone bonkers; much preferred the VW, faults and all to the just-as-glitchy MG - anyway there's a happy ending to the tale as we've now got a Tesla...
As someone who owns an MG4 Trophy, I think my answer is pretty clear. That said, it's not without its flaws and this looks to be a pretty substantial step forward for VW.
That said, the TV advert is pretty appalling, isn't it?
I love that colour! ❤
Can you review the MG4 extended long range 77kwh.
Ta.
I've lived in my Mk7 VW Golf for nearly five years (off & on) and still do... So that redefines the term of a low-rent interior, in fact, nothing has broken so it hasn't cost me a cent
VW is selling ID3 in China at starting price of £15k, The price in the UK is more than double that, crazy!
Won't have both but to answer your question it will be MG4 Trophy or even x power
Not happy.
Love this!
VW had to do up their game when SEAT launched their EV, however its no finished article. At that price point, id be tempted with the SEAT or the EX30 , but that appears to be smaller again!
I still can't understand why the wipers are operating as a left hand drive car. that makes them very poor in the rain for UK Buyers
But its not, It actually has whats called a sequential sweep, with the only unwiped part of the screen just below the rear mirror.
Does it have the oddball 2 different wheels..Front/rear, Like the ID4..???............Paul
MG 4 every day of the week!
MG4 Trophy. Despite the software niggles, it is still an amazing drive for value.
I am impressed 👌
I'd take one for what it sells for in China, which is $17,500. Thoughts on that VW?
The Cupra Born any time. What colour is this exactly?
When will it be in the US market?
Can you adjust the heat controls from the steering wheel? Sliding on the screen is a none issue too, but the heat controls look faffy.
No you can’t
Will VW ID.3-2 be sold in the USA?
VW researchers asked 1000 customers if they prefer physical knobs or touch sliders for temperature controls. All 1000 customers indicated they prefer physical knobs, so VW engineers "listened" and changed touch sliders to...
illuminated touch sliders! 😤
Why is there no mention of the BYD Atto 3 in UK? I didn’t see a single one when I was there. Are they available yet?
I think the Atto 3 is launching here in the Autumn with the Dolphin and Seal coming early 2024
Have the Id.4 and the sliders work perfect. Also on the sterring wheel. Only change they should do is put a little light behind them
Cupra Born looks better inside and out. MG4 is crazy value for money. Volvo EX30 is also a game changer. Modern VWs are so poor when it comes to build quality especiallybwhen you consider what they charge.
Would it do the Broxbourne to Brighton trip in one charge like my current Renault Zoe?
Not much was learnt from this video. Adaptive matrix LED headlights was already promised, why is this allegedly new? Does it still have capacitive buttons on the steering wheel? Does it still have 2 buttons for the windows? Does it actually have Augmented Reality HUD? The ID's are meant to be in Australia next year.. but MG beat them to it.
That finance offer is a game changer.
I would take the iD3
Who pays £42000 to buy a car that is good to drive around town. Just how big is the town they live in??? There’s no way on god’s little green earth would I spend that much money for a car that isn’t great out of town, I mean, you buy a car to travel in not just to drive around town. Who does that??? I still think the Kia Niro is the best value you can get for the money + a 7yrs warranty. Good review tho. Keep up the good work.
It still amazes me that the ID3 was (isn't) as good as the e-golf that proceeded it.
As an indication for delivery times these days: I Ordered late June 23, taking delivery mid September 23.
"£3 a month more"
That's not a lot of good if you're buying cash.
Just tap on the slider, it really isn't that hard! On the Cupra Born the capacitive buttons also work as buttons so problem solved!
Id3 definitely the best
big fan, keep the videos coming :)
Did you know that Rolls-Royce used a right hand gear stick?
Getting my MG4 on 1 sep.😁
VW just purchased Xpeng in China... could be a good pivot to save themselves from oblivion.
@@GlowingTubeVW didn't buy Xpeng, they acquired a 5% stake in them and an agreement to share technology.
@@NickFoster Thanks for the info… my bad.
Sadly, still not available in Australia
The VW will last far better than the MG4. A friend of mine has a trophy model and the seat, gear selector and interior plastic at 15k miles are starting to age very badly.
Who ever buys cheap...buys twice...
equal price i get the ID3 no question.
The MG4 is a brilliant car, as is the Volkswagen ID 3. But because neither of them could be converted into a small camper, both are out of the equation.
It's not a refresh. They made it as good as it should have been at the start. Cubra Born.
Doh. You were so close…
If the only thing going for a car is the temporary availability of promotional finance then it actually has nothing going for it
I'd order one right away if I could in Canada. We need small cars back here, the SUV invasion has to stop.
Why?
The rear seats need more headroom and the dash needs a nicer design (the id4-interior would do).
This is ridiculously expensive in The Netherlands. More expensive than Tesla Model 3! I won't waste this type of money on a grocery car that happens to be electric.
Have Matrix headlights on the old one. Never had an issue with the infotainment!
6:24 cheap scratchy plastics on a car that's this expensive?
How does interior materials compare to the MG4?
MG4 trophy, it's such an easy choice. VW have to really do some magic to be as competitive. You can now get an X Power which is stupidly quick for less than a semi-decently equipped ID3. Just a joke, really. Good effort, but not good enough.
id3 not selling are they?
Great presentation skills 👏
ID3 hands down, classic simple VW design, MG is a bit of a minger on the looks front, mind good if you like to buy cars with the dents already put in for you.
But £700 per month when my Vauxhall Ampera costs me nothing per month, when an extra £700 into the mortgage a month is a real saving of £1400 per month because of interest payments.
MG4 thanks 😅
Why? None of the assistants work, there are some battery issues,...but 7k cheaper 😅
i would have the id3
Until the new steering wheel buttons return & the bigger infotainment screen come to the UK late in 2024 i would not choose VW but although i love the MG4 its does been cheaper in the cabin, as of now i still think a Petrol car is still better value unfortunately.
In realty, I’d go for the Volvo EX30. Much more attractive car.
Letting you know in the comments below.
Nailed it, j@ustin
Thanks... but with sustainability and car-sharing becoming modern lyfestyle, it is always nice to tell us about back seat space and comfort...but maybe i missed this on the original.
Love iD.3⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As the new Audi is going to be built on the MG 4 platform , I’ll have to opt for the MG4 😊
Thats because VW are part owners of SAIC so I expect you may see a few cars from the VAG group being made on the MG MSP platform
@@RobertDodge absolutely, so why pay $70,000 when you can pay $35,000 only a class based society or someone stupid would opt for a badge 🥴
The MG4 has more durable (and arguably safer) LFP batteries.
Though only with the Standard Range version - the larger Long Range batteries have NMC chemistry. 👍
Only the small battery version with 51kwh cap. The long range version with 64 kwh has also a NMC-Pack just like the ID3.
No way VW ID.3 is rubbish cost extra £2,095 to have a camera view. I am MG 4 Tropy owner.
