Old-timer Tesla owner here - bought my Model S P85+ back in 2013, got 155,000+ kms on it, and I love it so much. This is a first gen car, so old it doesn't even have parking sensors, which means it doesn't have even the ancient original AP 1.0, manual drive only, and I *still* love it more than any other car I've ever been in. I'd like to get the Plaid, but there's no rush, and I'm on the waiting list for a Cybertruck. Even after 9 years, I'm still on the original equipment of everything except tires. I'm getting my headlights replaced this weekend - one of them is unreliable, so best to change them both. Not bad for 9 years. Brakes are still original, battery is original etc. I've lost about 10% of my range since I started, and that's totally managable. There's no squeaks or rattles, the car sounds and feels tight like brand new. I can't say enough about it. Welcome to the Tesla family :)
@@ColinFox Not at all. Commute every day, road trips. Etc. I love a road trip! 😁 Original battery and motors. Half shafts replaced 1000km ago! Apart from that, all good! 😁
Having driven a 2014 Model S since new now 125,000 uk miles its still exciting and special every drive and thats incredible, performance, styling, support, charging structure, and share price (thank you Elon so impressed with the car bought 1,000s of shares in 2015 now retired!) what not to like.
I've driven a 2013 from new, and I agree with you, it's been a joy driving it. I'm actually picking up a new one (Model S, Long Range) this weekend, and I'm excited like a little kid the night before Christmas. The other thing i was impressed with, after driving it for 9 years, 95k miles, I've still gotten about 50% of the purchase price back. 🎉
Congrats on your Tesla, the problem with VW and all the legacy automakers is they outsource everything including software. Well one of many problems lol
you would be surprised to learn that VW is developing software in house, that's why it's so bad. It should be outsourced. Tesla in the other hand should outsource making the cars because they aren't very good at it.
I tried an ID4 when looking at getting an EV last year and although I loved the exterior look of the car and the great space, inside the interior and especially the infotainment really let it down for me (this was October 2021). Maybe it’s got better since then but it really put me off at the time. Not good enough for a £40,000 car and miles behind Tesla (I’ve tried a Model Y).
Sounds familiar! I test drove an ID.4 last year. Solid car, but nothing special, and what really turned me off was the ugly brownish color of the interior, which could not be changed. Then I test drove a Model 3 and was sold immediately. Sleek design, responsiveness of car and screen, spartan interior... Such a radical change from your everyday car.
I also tried the ID4 GTX. It wasnt bad. The look and feel was really neat. But you cannot get any leather interior. And it kinda feels cheap for 40k++. The drive assistant sucks.... And parking with the car is also not really good. There is something with the wheels I think what makes it weird. I testdrove the EQC the car is much more heavy but 10 times better to drive..... They are not really there yet VW. But if you want something else than a Tesla, get an Mercedes. But for me it was the money and the range and size what matters. So I went with the 2022 long range model 3. XD
@@menthe885 The people who're saying that the interiors suck in ID4, are you guys saying that the layout is bad or the quality of materials used and the software is bad? Because, in my opinion the interior layout of the ID4 is amazing, it's much better than the EV6 and Ioniq 5 but the hard plastics and buggy software is a let-down!🙁
@@sarangsp1591 Yeah I ment the buggy software for example. But also the side doors feel a bit cheap where the speakers are. Also the sound system is not the best. Also that it doesnt have a normal middle console is a bummer for me. But tbh in the end everything comes down to taste, and personal opinnions! The ID4 is a fantastic car. Don't get me wrong. It just doesnt hit me right. If you know what I mean. Build quality in german cars is top notch.
Welcome to the Tesla clan ! *There really is no competition for Tesla* The supercharger network, the way they dynamically plan journeys, the performance, range and efficiency. Oh and the phenomenal software! (As you pointed out in your video above)
@@gabrielgingras814 I ve driven all the Tesla, it s quick but that s all. Polestar and i4 are better car in term of fit and finish and more premium, same as the EQE when it will hit the road. Tesla looks cheap.
@@jonpetter8921 The Polestar is a really good car, but doesn't match up the Model 3 when it comes to software. The interior is nice, but claustrophobic compared to the openness and simplicity that offers Tesla, including visibility. The same can be said about the i4. Mercedes (or should I say Geely) really messed up the handling and power distribution on the EQS and I doubt it will be fixed on the EQE. The luxurious interior is nice though, if it wasn't for the already dated infotainment and the awful assembly quality (don't press any surface on the dashboard of a recent Mercedes).
You have chosen wisely!, and one great thing about this choice is that no other car retains its value as much as Tesla! Owners who bought their cars a couple years ago have been able to resell them for an upgrade sometimes for more than they originally paid for it!
Volkswagen has massive software problems as you can read everywhere. And they have a big programming team which they maybe think is a good thing. But having many people leads to one not knowing what the other one does, plus the best software engineers will choose to work for the best and not for a company with a massive team of average people.
@@peternystrom921 Exactly. When i first saw them and to this day i think they look great. The ID.3 looks cool, ID.4 is not bad either and if you see the station wagon concept (called Vizzion?) or the Aero they have great styling but the tech is awful. I felt like "who installed the iPhone 1 in this car?" Other companies will wipe the floor with the ID´s if they dont do big changes fast. Sales in China and North America are bad already.
@@sarang9152 Yes, because they don´t have expertise in batteries and EV´s in general they have to buy at high cost and try to get software going which destroys their margins to use nice materials n stuff.
I on the other hand moved to Hyundai Ioniq5, which was just better than TM3/Y, for following reasons: - screen behind the wheel with speedometer and other controls - HUD - V2L (to power electric grill from the car, while camping) - ventilated seats, adjustable headrest - better suspension - better sound isolation But I was also considering ID.5. VW improved their software by a lot, and plug&charge is now available (also in HI5, btw.)
I am picky and honestly I keep finding things about each current crop of EVs out there which annoy me (the software in the VW cars being one of them). The Tesla Model 3 hits all the boxes for me. Honestly, there is nothing I dislike about it (except maybe that I would prefer it as a hatchback). I would already have purchased one if only Tesla would be selling cars in Malta.
I think you're being kind. As you say, as a car the ID.3 is a good one. It drives nicely with more than adequate performance [unlike ID.4s 😋]. But the software is honestly poor in many ways [and for all ID series vehicles] and that isn't good enough. Out of 10 I'd give the Navigation software about 5. The Voice Command interface I'd give 1/10 for actually recognising what I said once, a few months back when I worked up the enthusiasm to try it out just one more time [I have a fair Home Counties accent, so nothing difficult there]. The Lane Keeping Assist in the Driver Assist pack is both annoying and dangerous, so I'd give that part 2/10 and the whole Driver Assist about 6/10 [Lane Keeping dragging my scoring down]. The Adaptive Cruise Control is pretty good, and I'd give that a 7/10. The Infotainment is adequate and 5/10. Vehicle Status is good at 8/10. The other foibles like constantly notifying me that there are no Internet Radio stations about, I can put up with without getting annoyed. And those rare OTAs haven't really improved things much more than 10%. I still get Petrol Station coming up on planned route [POIs] as if I should care. And although Destination/Rapid Chargers are nicely identified everywhere, the software still directed me to an Audi dealership that was closed and the barrier was up, so no charging there. I still like the car a lo, but it could be sooooo much better. My software programming buddy from Netherlands came on holiday with me, and after experiencing the ID.3 [which he liked] he's getting a Tesla Model 3 SR+. Can't blame him. 😄
I do agree, it sucks compared to expectations, but I think if you're comparing it to the software of an average combustion engine car, it is on par with those now. The problem is that electric cars need to be better than that
@@EVDriver Yes of course. But we have experienced Tesla software now, and that has set the bar. Mind you, I'm sticking with my ID.3 until the lease ends. Then we'll think again.
@@EVDriver Crazy thing is that Tesla isn't some new-fangled thing... My Model S is just a few months shy of a decade old... And even laggard legacy auto companies go through two full design cycles in that time period... At a minimum they could've just copied Tesla like the Chinese do.
@@ramblerandy2397 What software are you running? 3.0 and 3.1 solve lots of those issues (speed , lane assist , etc), while I prefer Cupra's version , seems much snappier. Tesla is leagues ahead still though , but 14000 euros more expensive, different category money and size wise.

Congrats on your new car. Same reason why I will go from Hyundai Kona to a Tesla Y or 3. That and because the “slow” fast charging of max 77kw cost most of the time >40 minutes
If the ID3 was under warranty why didn't you get the air con fixed ? How much was the Tesla ? Also the Tesla chargers at a Tesla garage near me are over 60p per kw.
Congratulations on your Tesla, I also made mistake of buying Model 3. Why mistake? Well, it's just impossible even to consider any other brands anymore after you own one :) Others are just so far behind.
No major issues and solid car but A/C stopped working after 2 years???? I think that due to the climate you live in it doesn’t seem like a big thing but in other areas that means you can’t drive it without getting to work all sweaty and suffering from a heat stroke. I’ve never had an A/C breaking on me in any car (not even my 150k miles Dodge). FYI, I own a Model Y LR and when I set in an ID4, it felt like a BlackBerry phone with wheels. Like you said, behind the times. Unfortunate cause Ive been a big VW fan and owner for 20 years up until a year ago.
I owned a ID 3 but after 2 months i tested a Tesla and bought it an even if i liked the ID 3, a decent car, so can i just say that I love my Tesla. Funny video by the way.
In the first 10 seconds I knew it's the software issue. It's the biggest problem with VW EVs it was also the elephant in the room that caused CEO Diess to be fired. The press only wanted to focus on the board room meeting that VW will have to fire workers when they move to all electric vehicles plus all the other controversies in the last few months. To be honest when you have high level European politicians that are outlawing Ice vehicles after 2030 and some how the Union leader on the VW Board didn't see the writing on the wall that once ICE vehicle manufacturing comes to an end that also means having to get rid of most of the assembly workers that will no longer be needed to make EVs. VW engineers know or very well should know that VW software is the biggest problem in the EV line up. It's a problem with every ID.4. VW problems are so bad and that from Diess being fired Sandy Munro put VW at 12% with other manufacturers that will be competing with China. Your in the UK and may not even heard of him. The Leader of Porche will be running the company starting in September. So maybe he can take the lead and get ID. Lineup back on track starting with new software. Software is really needs because it has to fast and reliable to do the calculations for trip planning. I'm still waiting for my Lakeland close by dealership to get an ID.4 Pro S.
lol the aircon stopped working, the phone doesn't charge.. but it's solid, yea ok bud... I had a few VWs as well and will not be buying one any time soon. Funny how they got worse than the e-Golf...
You kept apologizing for giving up on the ID3!! You needn't have. All the legacy automakers , who have grudgingly also started making a few EVs, actually have no clue what they are doing. An EV is not just another ICE car with an electric motor. It is a paradigm shift, a whole new game, and these guys think because they are very successful in making ICE cars and have been doing it for ages, they can makes EVs too. Well now they are learning (at the expense of the coustomer), that they not just have no clue how to make an EV, but they are actually loosing money on every EV they sell. They have another 10 years, may be lesser, but they are all going bankrupt. And Tesla! Tesla was the one that forced them to make EVs. They laughed at Tesla but in the end there will only be Tesla who will be standing.
Once again the Gameboy generation concentrate on the software in the infotainment system. It's a car not a games console. If you don't like the car just say so but to piggyback all the low rent journalists who complain about the software shows tha thou are just looking for an excuse to change your car. Can't wait for your excuses when you decide to change out of the Tesla. Incidentally, we own an ID.3. It's a practical car, end of. Equally we could have and nearly did buy a Kona or an MG but we chose the ID.3. Disappointing piece of cheap rent clickbait designed solely to get the Tesla fanbois on your channel. Your choice.
look if its not up to standard it defiantly bad,,,oh its not bad it bxxxx crap isn't it, thats why you are changing, oh its not bad my zircon don't work, you can't see the screen, oh its not bad. MAN UP AND TELL PEOPLE WHAT YOU AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REALY THINK,
I hate to tell you, but Tesla UI software is very poorly designed. “I like change..” - you’ll find lots of that: the updates come thick and fast, each changing something, often undocumented, and usually trying to unbug the previous one.
I beg to disagree, but that is my personal opinion too. I found the Tesla Software very Apple like. Simple and easy to use from a consumer perspective. I was totally impressed with the software and snappiness of the Tesla Model Y interface. I only drove/rented it for 10 days but enjoyed every single day and moment!!
I should have made it clear that the main issue is with the usability of the screen when driving: an example would be the small “pause” or “play” icons which should have large “button” icons. Then there are the tiny icons that even with 20/20 vision are virtually invisible. The way you have to click through several layers to get climate controls etc to work. The always-iffy voice controls of wipers and lights(although it’s best to switch that off anyway). The way the Netflix, UA-cam etc have different actions - I’ve not found a way of leaving the former except by putting the car into Drive! Yes, the nav functions work well - although changing waypoints etc isn’t very intuitive. It’s the UI presentation that looks to have been thrown together by disparate groups without a consistent theme and in many ways without considering it is used in a moving vehicle trying to avoid potholes.
@@Wol747 I'm an old dude with not the greatest vision, and have absolutely no problems with the icons. Perhaps you should visit a doctor about your eyesight. I have been a professional software engineer for over 40 years, and Tesla has done a commendable job in producing a good UI. Given Teslas short time in the automotive business, and the so-called experience of the other OEMs, you should instead be asking why their UIs are so mediocre to terrible. Lag on touch screens should not be a thing in 2022, and yet many of Teslas competitors suffer from pretty annoying lag. Try using a laggy screen (however large the icons are) on a moving car!
Congrats! I own a 2021 MY LR and it's the absolute best car I've ever owned or driven. I honestly love my Model Y. My girlfriend and I will go for drives in it just for fun, sit and play games in it, we listen to music while parked at scenic spots, the car is simply lots of fun to own. Big upgrade from your ID3, have fun!
The recent Fully Charged Show interview with renowned EV tear-down engineer Sandy Munro confirms your own experiences where he states that Tesla technology "under the bonnet" is years ahead of all its rivals. However, as my requirements are purely for local driving, my Fiat 500e works well for me although I do envy you at this point in time!
@@briangriffiths114 In the US there are not enough Tesla Authorized Service Centers. Tesla will tow it to the nearest one. This could be a long way from where the owner lives. Mike Davenport AKA Chevy Dude I believe his got towed to somewhere in Ohio from like Northern Kentucky. Also whether this is good or bad you get text message updates on the repairs. Talking to someone directly I never heard of it. Ok to really answer this Tesla has had issues in the past with door latches not working and windows not tightly sealed coming loose on the highway. So Tesla would send a Service Van yes an ICE vehicle. To the Tesla owners place of service. Not all dealerships operate thier own collision body shops. GM for the most part has the most dealerships with in Body shops. The thing with other manufactures you can take your collision repair to an independent body shop. Tesla owners are really are under Tesla control for service. If you call Tesla Parts and you ask them if they have this part and what it cost. The first question they will ask you is what do you need it for. I haven't seen videos in Europe for how service is done over there. I do remember the guy that made a video and destroyed his own Tesla in Norway or Sweden because the battery replacement more the the cars worth.
Congratz on the Model 3! Just some tips for you with the car: - Always (always!) pre-condition the battery for fast charging by entering the charger in navigation, cold battery results in a very slow charge. - At Supercharger's leave a gap between you and other cars as typically stalls 'A' and 'B' will share power and result in a slower charge for both of you. (1A and 1B may share for example, apparently this isn't an issue with the new 250kW chargers though) - When on motorways, be especially aware that right now we run ancient 2019 Autopilot and it has a hard time detecting trucks as you pass them. If you go from say lane 3 to 2 but a truck is in lane 1, the car may freak out and think the truck is in your lane for a moment. (Fixed with Tesla Vision and FSD Beta, whenever we get those!) - In the winter, just be aware that the car is 'mainly rear wheel drive', it'll only use the rear motor unless you're flying into a corner or you're flooring it. The car's back-end may step out, once traction control triggers, the car will enter a 50/50 split mode where it uses the front and rear motor, after 2 minutes it'll slowly start offsetting towards the rear again to save power. I guess off the top of my head that's all I've got right now. Hope you enjoy the car. I got mine in November 2019 and its been a joy, never gets old. :)
Congratulations on getting the Model 3. I've had my Model 3 LR RWD since April 2018 and it's the best car I've ever owned. I've thought about upgrading to the newer version of the Model 3 or Model Y with the dual motors, heat pump and double thickness windows, but I've decided to wait for my CyberTruck and decide if I'll keep my Model 3 then. I also have the FSD package and don't want to have to pay for that again.
I knew it haha! Watching your previous video I was 100% sure the following up video would be "I sold my old car" :D. Once you drive a Tesla there is NO GOING BACK. YOU JUST HAVE TO have it. Tesla is the freaking future
Excellent choice! There is tesla , and then everyone else in a far distance. Have had many Teslas since 2015. Tesla changes your expectations of what a car should be. 🍻🍻🍻
I did exactly the same, changed from an ID.3 Pro S Tour to a M3LR. VW was a great car and had no issues in the year I owned it but the M3 is in a different league altogether. Much better performance and much more efficient.
@@pingvin300 In my opinion the Tesla is a much better car to drive and I much prefer it to the ID.3. The ID.3 travel assist was slightly better than the basic Tesla autopilot but that’s about it.
@@barrymcadam I've owned a few cars with 'driver assist' software. VW w/Traffic Jam assist, Volvo with Pilot Assist, Mercedes with their LKA and Active Cruise, and now my Tesla with FSD Beta (US car). The difference between Tesla 'regular' AP and the others can be significant, but they do similar things in most instances. When FSD is more broadly available, I think people will be absolutely shocked by the capabilities. I use it every single day and - while not perfect by any means - I truly enjoy it.
The id.3 is much more efficient now since the last software update, it now no longer heats the battery wasting energy unless the battery temp gets to I think around 0Deg C. I drive the tour 5 82 Kwh 74 Kwh available and can get 300 Kms and still have 20% left driving at motorway speeds 120 km/hr Recently, off the motorway I've been getting 200 kms per 40% charge.
I got my M3LR last Dec and I absolutely love it. Its my everyday car so I do drive it alot and my friends love riding in it on outings. So far no problems. Love the smooth quiet ride, and fast. My first EV car so cant compare to another EV and No complaints.
I just sold my ID4 and got a model 3, the simple truth is that there is no comparison on any level, the tesla is just amazing, showing all the flaws of the VW within 30 secs off driving it. BE WARNED, ALWAYS GO FOR THE TESLA . DONT FOOL YOURSELF THAT ANY OTHER COMES EVEN CLOSE.
I hear that to get an OTA software update some early ID fours, need to go back to the garage and also get the 12 V battery replaced for some inexplicable reason
ID3 is like NOKIA software in an iPhone. Their software sucks. It will take years. One OTA software update per year is moronic when your phone updates every few weeks. WTF?!
Startling that you think a car that's more expensive by 20k is better. Particularly when you're the one spending the extra 20k... Stunning conclusion...
At the time the m3 SR+ was costing around 50K in Ireland, today the LR is costing 50k. I got the ID.3 Tour 5 82 Kwh for 41,500 K 1.5 years ago. Id.3 82 Kwh Positives in my opinion Rage is good, driven 300 Kms still had 20% left driving motorway speeds 120 Km/hr Recently off the motorway getting 200 Kms per 40% charge. Car looks better than m3 outside Good to drive I like the travel assist. Negatives. Interior looks cheap with plastics you'd see in the Caddy Van. No speakers in the rear doors in the Tour 5 costing 41.5 K Euro's There's annoying rattles especially the doors with the stereo cranked up. Infotainment, sluggish and ergonomics poor. God be with the days you had dedicated buttons for the likes of the radio with buttons for preset stations, easy, simple no menus. I think all this tech in cars especially touch screens are very distracting especially when you have to take your eye off the road for longer than you should. I'm not sure I could tolerate another car who depends so heavily on the touch screen, I want more buttons for basic things like Climate control and radio. People are just addicted to screens and flicking though stuff endlessly, and this is not good in cars that can travel at high speeds and kill people.
The Software is fine now. I have 3.0 in my ID3. With Wecharge finding a charger nis easy peasy. Also now if you are running out of charge on your journey it's will tell you were to charge. I believe they will improve the software.
Maybe they will improve them but from discussions with friends who have ID’s and Tesla’s I’ve yet to meet someone who really loves their VW but pretty much every Tesla owner I’ve met absolutely raves about theirs.
How much more is the insurance? The cheapest I could find was £1300 and I'm 62 with a clean licence. Ended up getting an MG4 Trophy with 7yr warranty with insurance roughly a quarter of the price. It's a shame Telsa don't offer something less powerful TBH. I thought the model 3 was to be the car for the masses, but sadly it's out of reach for a lot of people at group 48+ The M3 is a great car though, I just wasn't willing to pay that amount every year especially as Tesla have opened up part of their charging network to everyone.
Never really got the point of the software complaint, what do you want it to do that it’s not doing. I have a Kia EV6 and once the car was set up I really never mess with much on the infotainment screen so I’m not sure what everyone is playing with or need to happen with their ev software, please expand on what is so bad about the id3 software that is so hard to live with, thanks for the review.
Man Im agreeing with u so much! Like why is software all of a sudden so important when driving, build quality and the boring generic styling of tesla (wish they gave some updates and hud)
One thing you didnt mention is just how good the stock stereo sounds. For a standard car it sounds fantastic! Also the headlights are so bright at night... probably the best ive ever seen.
Just a warning - I have a Tesla Model 3 (2019) and took it in for "No cold air" at 2 years into ownership. They charged me $395 to recharge the AC system. They couldn't find a leak. 2 years!?! That should have been under warranty IMHO but they claimed it is a consumable just like tires...but after 2 years?
there were some updates and i believe he got the ID.3 since almost market release, so he probably started with pretty old software. I'm just about to get rid of my EV6 for a used Model 3lr. The Kia is a good car, but the efficiency and supercharging ease is just undeniable. Then, like you say, the software is just light years beyond on a Tesla.
I recently got my M3 standard with FSD. I ruined my score to 74 and loss my right to drive FSD. I use to race with SCCA and anytime I buy a car, I like to give it the race test to see what car can do. I was so surprised when I got onto a on ramp in SF on Hickey Blvd and when into the turn with late apex and flew out of the ramp at 100+ miles per hour. The car was amazing like a race car. Well I looked at my score and i got penalized for a high gravitational turn. Yes, the M3 was a track car for sure.

Tesla only lets other cars use the network if there are chargers available and not being used. The people running Tesla know what they are doing . IMO it was a brilliant move. It's basically free money with little or no inconvenience to Tesla owners.
Why the dialogue to "keep us in suspense" about what your new car will be, when the video title has already told us and therefore tempted us to run it?
The riders I take in my Model Y ALWAYS comment on how “distracted” they would be by the large center screen. This are statements from ignorant people. It is not distracting, you only need speed and charge information from the center screen.
@@m1geo Have you taken a test drive in a Model Y? I got used to the center display very quickly. In some ways it's better than having to move my head around to see past the steering wheel. IIUC the yoke in the new S and X fix this problem but the yoke also needs getting used to.
@@BitJam Yes. Compared to my 2018 Model S, it definitely feels like a downgrade. It's a harder ride (air suspension), way less punchy (350hp vs 550hp), and, as I highlighted, the lack of centre screen. The enthusiasm for his Tesla is why people love them, the other brands just don’t have the same effect on now much people really love their Teslas. I love mine!
VW's ICE system is a mess, both in the Golf, whose latest version is a downgrade in usability on its predecessors as a result, and the ID series. But they just fired their CEO over the software issues and I'll be interested to see how this plays out. The ID3 still has really attractive packaging and the ID3 Pro strikes me as the most practical EV out there for my use, if they'd just a) get the software engineering and b) sell it in the US.
You get now rid of the VW-software problems and will get other problems in this car. Every car and car company has downsides, just at different fields.
So true! No car or car company is perfect, buy the one that either interest u the most or is more fit for the daily use! If some are more in to software so be it, but alot of people dont care that much about software (we only drive and use the screen somtimes rather than all the time, hence tesla m3 :)

@@ChristianKurzke that is INSANE VALUE!!! Congrats!
I have owned my MODEL X since 2016. The car doesn’t even aged and still feels new.
I love going to work every day for one reason - I get there in my model 3 ❤️
Congrats on your Tesla, the problem with VW and all the legacy automakers is they outsource everything including software. Well one of many problems lol
you would be surprised to learn that VW is developing software in house, that's why it's so bad. It should be outsourced.
Tesla in the other hand should outsource making the cars because they aren't very good at it.
I'm still super excited after almost 3 years of ownership of my model 3.
Fully agree, I looked at the ID.4 and felt like in the past. Then ordered a Model Y and feel like to be in the future! 🛸🥰

@@gabrielgingras814 I ve driven all the Tesla, it s quick but that s all.
Polestar and i4 are better car in term of fit and finish and more premium, same as the EQE when it will hit the road. Tesla looks cheap.
@@jonpetter8921
The Polestar is a really good car, but doesn't match up the Model 3 when it comes to software.
I am so excited for you! I remember when I got mine (same model 3 lr awd) and after 18 months... i am absolutely still in love with it!
We love our M3LR! Best car we have owned thus far and we have owned a lot.
You have chosen wisely!, and one great thing about this choice is that no other car retains its value as much as Tesla! Owners who bought their cars a couple years ago have been able to resell them for an upgrade sometimes for more than they originally paid for it!
You are spot on. I think this fact is not discussed enough.
Volkswagen has massive software problems as you can read everywhere. And they have a big programming team which they maybe think is a good thing. But having many people leads to one not knowing what the other one does, plus the best software engineers will choose to work for the best and not for a company with a massive team of average people.
I love my ID.3 but im not positive for the future of the ID family
@@peternystrom921 Exactly. When i first saw them and to this day i think they look great. The ID.3 looks cool, ID.4 is not bad either and if you see the station wagon concept (called Vizzion?) or the Aero they have great styling but the tech is awful. I felt like "who installed the iPhone 1 in this car?" Other companies will wipe the floor with the ID´s if they dont do big changes fast. Sales in China and North America are bad already.
@@neohimself Yeah, they are being criticized for their buggy software and hard plastic over use. 😐
@@sarang9152 Yes, because they don´t have expertise in batteries and EV´s in general they have to buy at high cost and try to get software going which destroys their margins to use nice materials n stuff.
I on the other hand moved to Hyundai Ioniq5, which was just better than TM3/Y, for following reasons:
- screen behind the wheel with speedometer and other controls
- HUD
- V2L (to power electric grill from the car, while camping)
- ventilated seats, adjustable headrest
- better suspension
- better sound isolation
But I was also considering ID.5.

Unfortunate cause Ive been a big VW fan and owner for 20 years up until a year ago.
many others will make the same decision, like saying I got rid of my motorola phone and got an iphone.

Welcome to the Teslafam!

I hate to tell you, but Tesla UI software is very poorly designed.
“I like change..” - you’ll find lots of that: the updates come thick and fast, each changing something, often undocumented, and usually trying to unbug the previous one.
I much prefer this to software that barely changes and stays bad / broken for long periods of time
I beg to disagree, but that is my personal opinion too. I found the Tesla Software very Apple like. Simple and easy to use from a consumer perspective. I was totally impressed with the software and snappiness of the Tesla Model Y interface. I only drove/rented it for 10 days but enjoyed every single day and moment!!
"The Tesla UI software"....
Which actually takes you to a working charger when you ask it using voice control? (Just for instance)

I haven't seen videos in Europe for how service is done over there. I do remember the guy that made a video and destroyed his own Tesla in Norway or Sweden because the battery replacement more the the cars worth.
Subscribed because you bought the Tesla. Can't wait for you to start testing out FSD Beta once it becomes available in Europe!
Congratz on the Model 3!
Just some tips for you with the car:
- Always (always!) pre-condition the battery for fast charging by entering the charger in navigation, cold battery results in a very slow charge.
- At Supercharger's leave a gap between you and other cars as typically stalls 'A' and 'B' will share power and result in a slower charge for both of you. (1A and 1B may share for example, apparently this isn't an issue with the new 250kW chargers though)
- When on motorways, be especially aware that right now we run ancient 2019 Autopilot and it has a hard time detecting trucks as you pass them. If you go from say lane 3 to 2 but a truck is in lane 1, the car may freak out and think the truck is in your lane for a moment. (Fixed with Tesla Vision and FSD Beta, whenever we get those!)
- In the winter, just be aware that the car is 'mainly rear wheel drive', it'll only use the rear motor unless you're flying into a corner or you're flooring it.

I did exactly the same, changed from an ID.3 Pro S Tour to a M3LR. VW was a great car and had no issues in the year I owned it but the M3 is in a different league altogether. Much better performance and much more efficient.
Can you name two things, which you prefer in the VW?
@@pingvin300 In my opinion the Tesla is a much better car to drive and I much prefer it to the ID.3. The ID.3 travel assist was slightly better than the basic Tesla autopilot but that’s about it.
@@barrymcadam I've owned a few cars with 'driver assist' software. VW w/Traffic Jam assist, Volvo with Pilot Assist, Mercedes with their LKA and Active Cruise, and now my Tesla with FSD Beta (US car).

Negatives.
Interior looks cheap with plastics you'd see in the Caddy Van.
No speakers in the rear doors in the Tour 5 costing 41.5 K Euro's
There's annoying rattles especially the doors with the stereo cranked up.
The long range only loses a car length against a M3P from takeoff. It’s nothing. Both are crazy fast.

Id kick up a fuss. Aircon not working is a warranty fix IMO.
“The software is not that terrible anymore”
That’s probably cause you’re so used to it now!
there were some updates and i believe he got the ID.3 since almost market release, so he probably started with pretty old software.
There is a noticeable improvement in stability / speed of the system between older and newer versions, but this does not mean that the new software is good, the older versions were just incredibly bad.
@@tzarcoal1018
That in itself tells you something.
Tesla...
"We noticed a problem.... It's fixed" (when you didn't know there was an issue)
VW.....
"Promised a software update every 3 months"
@@rogerstarkey5390 nah sorry, i am not really buying into the Tesla is perfect thing either... I mean the automatic wiper control or the high beam adjustments are just horribly bad and that is not a new thing. The "problem seen -finger snap - problem gone" behavior works well in fictional companies, but not in real life.
🎉 nice. My Model 3 rwd will be delivered on the 30th. I'm so excited, wish I didn't have to wait any longer. I ordered in February so what's a few more days.
I honestly think even the first model s was more technologically advanced than the ID. How in the world did VW think its ok to release that UI/software and laggy display when the model s came out in 2012. Just dumbfounded honestly.
Even the new car smell is better in a TESLA
100+ mph off a ramp…what could go wrong?!
I’ve had numerous VW Golf GTI’s, a VW Tiguan, Golf R & more laterally a VW T-Cross. We now have a Tesla Model Y LR & haven’t looked back since. VW have lost their way recently & fankly their cars are just have been getting more disappointing. Sad.
Believe it or not, now the ID.3 is more expensive than Tesla 3 in The Netherlands! Now the Tesla 3 basic model (491km range) is for 42k. ID3 basic model (427 km range) is for 45k.
I bought an ID.4 and sold it:No reversing camera on a large SUV with poor rear view. No adaptive headlights or wipers. Faulty charging by design with a not fit for purpose timed charger and no software updates. Range as stated by Which? 100 miles short of stated. Model Y due next month!!
Gratz with your new car! I have one just like it (couple months older only). I haven't regretted it a single moment.
Time to splurge for the power burst. $2k more for 1/2 second faster. Get that baby down to 3.7.
I will at some point, would need quite a lot of views to pay for it though!! 😂
@@EVDriver You can buy it and try it for a few days and get a no hassle refund (through the app) if it not for you. However, If you do, just be prepared to say dodgy to 1500 quid 😬. Congrats on your new car. You won't regret it!

It’s weird, but I think I know why. 😂. I’ve been driving my M3 Long Range Ghost for 3 years and I’ve never wanted to change it, but why really ?
If you are an EV Channel, you should at least own a tesla if you can afford to, because you gonna miss a lot of things. And who doesn't want a car that is constantly updating(OTA) for FREE!!
Tesla rich man's car I bet you had the pony up 20K or more.. hey Elon where is that 20,000 dollar EV where is that cyber truck Elon the promise maker in the deposit taker..
VW won't get there: They just got rid of one of the most forward looking CEO's in Legacy auto... Herbert Deiss
Why did you make the mistake of buying a VW EV? Never ever buy a German EV cos they don’t do software.
I hope Tesla doesn’t diminish the Super Charging experience for everyone by opening it to non Tesla’s.
Tesla only lets other cars use the network if there are chargers available and not being used. The people running Tesla know what they are doing . IMO it was a brilliant move. It's basically free money with little or no inconvenience to Tesla owners.
No need to explain. Tesla had a better charging network, and although the body panel fit is lower than average on a Tesla it’s a much better car.
Straight piece of advice: stop pointing your figures at the viewers. It’s irritating and just plain rude!
Performance, style, charging network, car gets better over time
Why the dialogue to "keep us in suspense" about what your new car will be, when the video title has already told us and therefore tempted us to run it?
The riders I take in my Model Y ALWAYS comment on how “distracted” they would be by the large center screen. This are statements from ignorant people. It is not distracting, you only need speed and charge information from the center screen.
As a Model S owner, the lack of the dash display bothers me. I'm tempted with the Model Y while waiting for the new Model S.
On the plus side, the Model Y had the heatpump (for cold winters), matrix LED lighting (PUP upgrade), and slightly faster charging (250kW).
The enthusiasm for his Tesla is why people love them, the other brands just don’t have the same effect on now much people really love their Teslas. I love mine!
Why does the steering wheel have to be upside down? I’ve never heard of anything crazy like this
VW's ICE system is a mess, both in the Golf, whose latest version is a downgrade in usability on its predecessors as a result, and the ID series.
If some are more in to software so be it, but alot of people dont care that much about software (we only drive and use the screen somtimes rather than all the time, hence tesla m3 :)
congrats enjoy 🤗
Congratulations!!!
