HO First Revenue Train On The Layout - CP 112-15 Intermodal

- CP 9510 East - Train 112-15 was the first train to make its way across the layout. The final rail was welded and without any fanfare or dignitaries present, 112 was PK'd by the steel crew as it passed over the "golden spike" at MP 82.2 on the Laggan sub at 2355.
Power is a pair of Kato AC4400CWs with Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders, LED lighting and dual speakers. Intermodal well cars and containers are a mix of every brand out there.
Man oh man....what a great layout....I have been busy painting and decaling every locomotive and car for my favorite railway....I cant wait to build my model railway after seeing your video.
Thank you Shawn!
I live next to a Union Pacific line and those freight trains go super fast as night time and they shake our house like an earthquake! The shear weight of the train just rumbles the ground. You can tell with the passenger trains they are much lighter and don’t shake the ground. I love the rumbling sound of a diesel locomotive coming past my house! I don’t know what it is with men and trains from the time we are born we love them. I’m like a kid again when I look at trains! Your layout is incredibly authentic you got all the sounds and the realistic train lengths.
That throttle control was my biggest issue a kid! This soo realistic just because of that!
Haha I also had the same problem. My dad still teases me to this day when he comes to visit and sees trains running normal speeds on my layout. "Why so slow" he chuckles.
Absolutely wonderful to see Ben, very pleased for you. David.
Thanks David!
The length of the trains are unbelievable. Really good video thanks for sharing, Cheers Matt
Thanks Matt!
Great First Run!!!
You've done so much work in the last few years it inspires us all to get back on our model train projects. Cheers!
Thank you very much!
Wow. Awesome progress! Congratulations!!
Ken.
Thanks Ken!
Yes railroad making money!!! Nice to see her run down what will be fantastic scenery
Thanks Peter! If only it somehow generated real money lol
Excellent all the way around from design to track work. Your execution is flawless.
Thank you for the kind words!
Great update, trains are running nice and smooth. Great work
Thanks!
Probably the best Layout I ever seen thus far!😁
Thanks so much!
Awesome video, congrats on having the first train run around!
Thanks!
That was just plain ol' fashioned FUN! What a treat to watch. Congrats on the progress. SPGhost
Thanks!!
THANK YOU...for sharing. Nice run through.
Thanks!
I’ve been following you for quite awhile now. It’s fantastic to see your progress. I’m working on a much smaller layout and look forward to my trains running. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Good luck with your layout!
Dude, this is awesome. Can't wait to see all the scenery and those SD40-2s running. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
BArailsystem No problem
Like seeing trains running on your layout!! Can’t wait to see more scenery work
Thanks Matthew!
Bravo...great layout here. The long train runnin 👍
Awesome layout. I like the foam for landscaping. You've got some goodies there bud. Keep it going. Whoo-whoo. 🚂🚃🚃🚃 👍👍
Thanks Richard!
Well made video of an awesome layout, my congratulations on a job well done. Now time to start the fun part scenery.
Thanks Gregg!
Congratulations. Look forward to more updates as the scenery goes in.
Thank you Chris!
Well done Ben. Looking forward to the bridges and scenery.
Thanks Norman
Truly awesome. Nice track work, trains look very nice running.
Thanks for sharing
Muse
Thanks David!
Awesome work! I know everyone says this, but you got so much done so quickly. I love the long, tangent expanses, and that Morant's Curve scene is going to be great.
-Cam
Thanks Cam!
An excellent video, Keep up the good work Best Regards from France Bruno
Thanks Bruno! Greetings from Canada. -Ben
Nice looking layout. Things are really starting to come together. I look forward to more layout updates.
Thanks! Much more to come!
That’s an awesome layout, I like the Canadian Rail theme. For my neck of the woods, we got Union Pacific as our main theme. I wish I had the space to do something like this but I am a small timer. All you guys in Canada and Minnesota have huge basements where you can build train layouts like this! That intermodal train is awesome and your trains are long like the real ones! That’s pretty awesome!
Looks great.. everything is coming along real nice.. thanks for sharing and keep up the great work... Lance
Thanks Lance!
Lookin good, glad to see everything's coming along... wish I was as motivated with my layout as you are with yours
Thanks! I subscribe to the 15 minutes a day philosophy, try to accomplish something even if its as simple as cleaning a small area.
Very nice, Long trains and long distances, as well as a great sound
Oh Ben this big layout...beuatiful train operation...
👏👏👏
Thanks Luiz!
I know you are happy! You get to run the trains ! Good deal friend ! Congratulations.
Thanks Scott!!
Very realistic pull away, impressive.
Thanks!
Wow!!:) What an amazing train and spectacular layout Ben. Bravo!🤙😎🇨🇦❤️
Thank you!
Great video man! I’m glad you got the track completed!
Thanks! Me too!
Oh Ben, I see another train running .....the tools will soon be laying idle as the sound of Gevo's and D40-2's fill the air...LOL . I've seen it all before young man! Why do you think I still have no scenery!! But at least you'll have trains running for my visit in 2019 I guess, so carry on with all speed Sir.
looking great Ben and the long curves really make a difference.
Cheers, Gregg .
You are describing exactly what is happening haha. It does get tough to work on it when the option of running trains exists. Trains will definitely be running next year on the CP side, CN side I doubt it. Thanks for the comment Gregg.
Pretty awesome lay out, nice ...
Thanks Skip!
Congrats Ben a long time coming now the challenge is to find time to get the scenery up, with you running trains and all ;)
Great Video
Thanks Ryan!
Lookin good, like the staging area too
That is fantastic man!!! That'been a long time coming man. That's a very satisfying feeling, getting to run the first train. Keep up the great work, looking foreward to more.
Thanks! Yes, very long time coming!
I had an HO scale setup with an oval and fake trees!! Lol..Had a nice Z scale layout...but this...WOW!!! It makes me want to get back into having a setup again!! I just became a subscriber !!
Thanks very much Dennis!
Well done buddy! !
Looking forward to seeing more updates in the future! !
Thanks William!
Beautiful, wish I could find more cp engines in o scale, I only have an sd90mac. Hoping to get an es44 and ac4400 eventually.
Just love the expanse. Regards Stephen.
Thanks Stephen
Awesome layout my friend. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Chris!
You have great talent Ben.What I see here is vision. We model what we have seen, in photos and trackside, and you've captured that here. I am really excited to see the end result here.Man....you gotta make a LOT of trees, lol.Excellence, my friend!
Thanks Al! Yeah, not looking forward to building 1000's of trees. We're going to have tree building parties and get the wives involved. I think the trick is to make sure there are lots of "refreshments" available and have a big BBQ afterwards, should be fun.
Wow just love it! Amazing as usual!! 👌
-Ben
Thanks Ben!
Nice layout! Can’t wait to see what it looks like when scenery is laid, also your cat screaming at the train at 5:40 is funny
Thanks and that is hilarious, we don't have a cat. That was one of my kids, lol, not sure what she was on about there.
Excellent work! Hopefully my layout will be that big one day...
Thanks!
Looks great and nice run! Keep up the nice work. Bernie
Btw.....just subbed!
Thanks Bernie!
WOW amazing layout ho is really evolving becoming like the real thing love it
Thanks Jason, yes the lines between real and model are really blurred with the amazing equipment available today.
Looking good.nice to finally get a train running.
You shold look for some CAST containers.
I used to see them all the time back in the 80s.
They were blue with the word CAST on the sides.
Great video, the layout is looking amazing thanks for sharing....
Thank you!
Took a 112 not two weeks ago, 3:00 when the train hit lake Louise (Just missing that 30° turnout into double track;) ) was when I clued in your layout is based on parts of the Laggan sub. Excellent layout, tagging along for more!
Not a bad ride, better than getting a 600! Ah dang you noticed the error!I only realized after I had cut and installed the plywood roadbed that it's an equilateral switch there! Tried hard to make it work but I would have had to change the approach and everything. Had to live with it. Definitely don't look too closely at Divide haha I took a lot of artistic license given there isn't even a crossover there anymore. My version has them opposite of how they were so I can be eastbound and scoop a train on the Lake Louise south track.
Thanks man!
You have a really nice layout and those weathered CP engines
Thank you very much!
Wow - once again - that is one beautiful train Ben!
Of course running trains cuts into layout building time, no problem there IMO. I need the rush of seeing stuff actually run to really keep me motivated on the hard work of making a layout. That is why we work so hard to create the environment - not for itself but to make the perfect setting to see our trains run. Mix some play with some work - life is too short to keep our noses to the grindstone all of the time. :-)
I loved how you showed the start in the reversing loop so that the slack action was visible - nice touch!
I am also working on a construction train - yours sitting on the siding looks very nice and shows how we all need some smaller stuff to put everything into perspective. I have been trying to pick the perfect railroad crane for years now and I think that I am close.
I know that I am one update behind still - checking that out in the next few days. Your layout is going to totally rock! :-)
Regards,
Jim
Even the grass has started to grow
Very slooooowly :D
Looks fantastic..
Thanks Jim!
Great video as always!
Thanks!
That is so realistic I expected one of the engines to start smoking and the crew to start going on about how much they hate railfans.
!@#$% HO scale foamers! *shakes fist*
Lol
Nice job! love that you have trains running during construction. Fine weathering on the locomotives, and on the work train in the siding. If you're in Canada, then you'll soon be having lot of indoor weather to make some big progress on the layout.. Skol!
Thanks Ron! Yep, I live in western Canada, Alberta. We already had a month of winter now heading back to summer, it's supposed to be +20*C this week!
Wow great video video and great so so so so cool very very lucky!!!
Thanks!
BArailsystem you’re welcome
great video and layout
Thank you!
Really good stuff here. Excellent changes in elevation. Using the pink foamboard on top of the benchwork facilitates the changes in elevation, which is VERY important. Unless you're making a yard, changes in elevation makes for a better looking railroad. Did you superelevate your curves to???? That's another stunning visual effect. But don't lean the curves too much. You run the risk of tipping those double stacks off the rail. Overall I can see the preparation you put into this BEFORE you started building. Good job. Looking forward to more progress.
I think the trick is to remember that the only thing that appears flat is the track roadbed and highways. Yes, the curves are superelevated subtlety. The roadbed is cambered about 3mm on curves. Thanks for the comment.
ME GUSTO MUCHO EL VIDEO HQ FIRST REVENUE TRAIN
What brand are those switches seen at the start? I've never seen anything like them in HO scale!
Fast Tracks! They are hand built.
@@BArailsystem amazing! So they are custom or came as a kit?
@@bluemoon1648 You buy the track, ties and fixtures from them and then build them yourself.
As the trees grow too old in the current Bowriver Morantz Curve, it is good to reproduce a nice landscape.
Thanks, on my Morant's curve they will be kept at an optimal height for photography :)
I am a big fan of those ac4400cws! Wish I could find one for sale with dcc and sound installed
Very Nice run !
Great layout
Awesome video
Thank you!
I have a question about the Kaslo Shops cabs. Do you simply take the old cab off the engine and then put the completed Kaslo cab on or do you have to cut the old cab off?
Gigantisch..echt toll.. LG
Danke!
Beautiful!!!!
Gran trabajo...
I love cp trains
B Arailsystem,
HO First Revere Train on the Layout CP 112 - 115 Intermodul.
Real super cool layout, with Exelant Locamotive to try it out.
Thank you Thomas
Cool, make more HO Scale model train videos.
Thanks! Will do!
YAY!!!!! Love IT!!!!!
Thanks very much Gary!
@@BArailsystem CAN'T WAIT too see the CN side if the coin!!!
Awesome dude! Where did you get the lead locomotives with the CP Rail logos at on the side?
Thanks! They are made by Kato USA.
Great work. Love the angle at 2:32. What track you using?
Thanks Joe! Micro Engineering flex track. Mainline is code 83, passing sidings are code 70 and yard and spur tracks are code 55.
It started tugging just like the real ones. The engine moves forward depending on length of train so many feet before the last car starts to move. Very realistic, but im wondering if you throw in the last notch, will it break apart like the real ones. Good job though.
A few years ago some friends and I pooled our stuff together and ran a full length 110 car grainer. Found out you had to run at least 1 mid train remote after we ripped the coupler box right off a car haha. At that length going to notch 8 might actually get you a knuckle somewhere.
Awesome video, are you going to weather some of the intermodal cars and containers?
Thanks, yep once the layout is scenic'd and mostly finished I am going to shift to weathering all my locomotives and rollingstock.
@3:00 should have a crew standing outside doing a PK 😂
what's that?
Very nice layout. Can't wait to see the progress. Are you going to build a replica of the Banff Depot?!
Thanks! Of course! I have copies of the original blueprints to work off of for both the Banff and Lake Louise stations.
Cool
Wow.
Where do you get your containers
I've been collecting them for years, get them from all over the place. Hobby shops, online, flea markets...
lol how long has it taken? I have been looking for some of those Canadian Tire, Maritime ontario and Bison transport 53ft ones since im Canadian as well
nice
Thanks Mike!
Could you do another roster update in the near future?
It's on the list to do an update for the CP roster but time is limited and it hasn't changed that much since I did the last one.
An old crusty gp9 would round out a bad ass triple header...
Ben, I bet it is great to have trains finally running. How do you keep your tracks clean?
It's fantastic Ken, we are having a lot of fun with it. I use the low tech method of an old sock and my fingers. I can quickly do the whole layout and it removes a lot of the black gunk that builds up on the top of the rail. I do have a CMX track cleaning car, haven't tried it yet.
No doubt that you are having fun as I could hear the conductor in the background. Bet he loves it.
Will you have industries and do switching and make up trains
There isn't a single industry Patrick, the focus of my layout is mainline trains running east and west on the Laggan sub. There will be a little bit of switching for hot box set outs, work trains, plow extras and the passenger trains making station stops and overnights at Banff and Lake Louise.
That's an amazing fleet of potash cars. Are they all NARCs?
Yes those are all NARC, I wish I could afford another full train of them but the Canadian dollar has really been in the crapper the last couple years.
Gotta grab those K&S Blue potash cars, look REAL sharp rolling through town. Or wait till NARC runs CPs new line of grain cars. Spotted the first one up for a photo shoot about a month ago.
What scale are those?????????
Thanks
Any you're locos Brass?
Hi Wayne, no, none of them are brass.
@@BArailsystem Thanks for the info. Nice job on everything it looks awesome!
How big is your layout?
Roughly 30' x 40'
AWESOME!!!😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈
Thanks!!
How much money did you spend on all of this
Less than a Mustang :)
WOW, that's all I have to say.
Thanks!
