The Cantatas as played by JS Bach Foundation and conducted by Rudolph Lutz are a marvel to watch and to listen to. Everything sounds just right. The voices are very good and perfectly suited to the score. The overall outcome exudes humanity and light.

BACH was a strong believer, who knew the bible very well and loved Jesus very much. When he started composing he always prayed before and was looking for the honour of his saviour. He signed his works : SOLI DEO GLORIA ! So I totally agree with you, it's really divine.
I have an edition with complete works of him. ❤

Charles Daniels (Tenor) and Terry Wey (Alto) singing the Aria "In meinem Gott bin ich erfreut" is one of the highlights of JSBachFoundation's many wonderful contributions to bringing Bach alive for the modern world.

1st time throughI concentrated on how the music and the lyrics melded, read through the translation a few times. 2nd time through, the gentle harmonies grabbed my attention. 3rd time through, gentle magnificence. Okay, so I listened to the tenor/alto bit about ten times.

oh, the soprano aria uses the reconstruction of the obbligato recorder by Suzuki! great choice, because it's very beautiful and can't imagine that aria without it. It helps that Sämann sings is very assertively. Plenty of beautiful things here: MacLeod's deep voice (he sometimes has a slight vibrato that makes him sound unsure/unconvinced of the words he sings, but not here) with the colour of the slide trumper and the bouncy duet that is a smidgen too fast but actually works. A compact cantata but full of jewels.

Vibrato or a wavering voice does not mean uncertainty.
