I know that I'm probably in a minority but "Crisis? What Crisis?" is my favourite Supertramp album and this brilliant track is part of the reason for my opinion. I reckon that this could have been a sizeable hit single in the UK if it had been released, given that in those days we had a reasonably discerning record-buying public who would dare to buy ambitious, sophisticated, unconventional singles such as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" and "Rubber Bullets" (10 c.c.), "Sylvia" and "Hocus Pocus" (Focus), "Live And Let Die" and "Band On The Run" (Wings), "Music" (John Miles), "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us" (Sparks) and many others which broke the standard formula for hit singles. There are many other examples, I'm sure. Perhaps commenters might be kind enough to reply with examples of other unorthodox hit singles from that era?
Yes, you’re absolutely right and I’d like to add to your list few more pearls worth mentioning: Magic Man & Crazy on You (Heart); Fooling Yourself & Pieces of Eight (Styx); Ice Nice & Don’t be Late (Saga), Telegram (Nazareth); Hold On (Triumph); Promises in the Dark & In the Heat of the Night (Pat Benatar); Fool’s Overture (Supertramp); The Carpet Crawl & Supper’s Ready (Genesis) & Troy (Sinēad O’Connor).
Let me tell you a story that'll make you change I'll tell you when I'm way out of range It's about a man who's cruel and mean So promise not to cause a scene Then heaven help the ones you love There's nowhere 'neath the stars above Where you can run you know he'll find you It don't matter now, just look behind you You had your warning, you knew the score You got it wrong and that means war So why'd you have to treat me rough Your explanation's not enough Ain't nobody but me Gonna lie for you Gonna die for you Ain't no fish in the sea Gonna sigh for you Gonna try for you Gonna lie for you Gonna die for you You see, I got a double disposition Sometimes I'm mean, sometimes I'm vicious I'm Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde So if you want to stay alive Just give me all you've got to give And then perhaps I'll let you live Ain't nobody but me Gonna lie for you Gonna die for you Ain't no fish in the sea Gonna sigh for you Gonna try for you Gonna lie for you Gonna die for you Gonna sigh for you Gonna try for you Gonna lie for you Gonna die for you (Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' (Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin' (Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' (Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin' (Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' (Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin' (Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' (Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin' (Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' aah Songwriters: Richard Davies, Roger Hodgson. English: This is an underatted song by Supertramp. Another of their greatest classics. Taken into account that it followed the legendary Crime of the Century, Crisis? What Crisis? remains a very good album. The best track of Crisis? What Crisis?. Excellent Rick Davies as lead singer. His best song as lead singer of Supertramp after Bloody Well Right from Crime of the Century. After all, it was almost impossible to repeat twice the legendary album. Nontheless, Ain't Nobody But Me is still one of their best songs in career. Another great classic by Supertramp.
What Crisis?. Excellente voix de Rick Davies. Sa meilleure comme chanteur de Supertramp après Bloody Well Right du légendaire Crime of the Century. Compte tenu que l'album Crisis? What Crisis? suivait Crime of the Century, il en demeure une belle réussite. Après tout, il était presqu'impossible de répéter un tel exploit avec l'album précédent. Néanmoins, ce quatrième disque 33-tours de Supertramp est loin d'être médiocre! Il en demeure un bon album à posséder dans sa collection de CD. Excellente chanson. Un des plus grands classiques de Supertramp.

@@ALen21-zi3sfHello my neighbor from the former Soviet Union! I can totally relate to your comment.

Music I now listen to when I’m shitfaced…..
Fantastic piece of music
Let me tell you a story that'll make you change
I'll tell you when I'm way out of range
It's about a man who's cruel and mean
So promise not to cause a scene
Then heaven help the ones you love
There's nowhere 'neath the stars above
Where you can run you know he'll find you
It don't matter now, just look behind you
You had your warning, you knew the score
You got it wrong and that means war
So why'd you have to treat me rough
Your explanation's not enough
Ain't nobody but me
Gonna lie for you
Gonna die for you
Ain't no fish in the sea
Gonna sigh for you
Gonna try for you
Gonna lie for you
Gonna die for you
You see, I got a double disposition
Sometimes I'm mean, sometimes I'm vicious
I'm Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde
So if you want to stay alive
Just give me all you've got to give
And then perhaps I'll let you live
Ain't nobody but me
Gonna lie for you
Gonna die for you
Ain't no fish in the sea
Gonna sigh for you
Gonna try for you
Gonna lie for you
Gonna die for you
Gonna sigh for you
Gonna try for you
Gonna lie for you
Gonna die for you
(Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin'
(Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin'
(Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin'
(Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin'
(Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin'
(Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin'
(Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin'
(Oh yes) I know that I've been lyin'
(Hush) Now baby, stop your cryin' aah
