Graham Crowden (Mr. Blunden's assistant) - such a talented actor in anything he took on. For his comedic brilliance in latter years, look no further than 'Waiting for God', you won't be disappointed :)
And plenty of dance halls everyone went from one to another no waiting for night clubs and cheap for entry .kids today need this no alcohol milk shakes coke
I remember this movie when it came out and to see the super Diana Dors again, she was terrific as Mrs Higgins.. I enjoyed the movie again after so long.. many thanks for sharing.. 👍💞
One has to admire films that are based on books as writers tend to have a pretty good use of the language so the script is always of interesting plot, well-mannered characters of all kinds are introduced, and detailed descriptions are formed . What the education of the writer does, along with his talent is to make the film a masterpiece of its kind
Great movie and lots of fun and exitement as well. For one, the movie turned out quite different than one would think, which makes it quite unique. It was a pleasure to watch, thank you very much.
In many scenes this was performed like a melodrama/vaudeville, even the “goodbyes” at the end. Used to do many of these types of performances years ago. They are quite fun.
I got interested in the somewhat gruesome lyric the little girls are chanting at the beginning. I found there are several versions of it. Here's the closest one I found to the lyrics in this film: Some versions include child labor, such as turning a mangle. Wall-flowers, wall-flowers Growing up so high, We are all young maidens And we shall all die Except for (kid's name) She's the youngest of us all She can dance and she can sing And she can dance the wedding ring* Fie ! fie ! for shame, Turn your back to the wall again.
Good film although not quite sure how they got the seasons right at the start from getting the job about Xmas time ,then suddenley arriving at the job in what looks like mid-summer!😅
Plot- A mysterious, very old solicitor Mr. Blunden visits Mrs. Allen and her young children in her squalid, tiny Camden Town flat and makes her an offer she cannot refuse. The family become the housekeepers to a derelict country mansion in the charge of the solicitors. One day the children meet the spirits of two other children who died in the mansion nearly a hundred years previously. The children prepare a magic potion that allows them to travel backwards in time to the era of the ghost children. Will the children be able to help their new friends and what will happen to them if they do??
Goodness, there are 17 language options! How many would you like? I know there are thousands of languages in the world, but certainly many of the most commonly spoken languages are in the list of options. Are you sure you know where to look? Did you tap on the gear, and then choose captions, and Auto Translate?? Those are not perfect translations, I admit, as they are automatically done by the computer. But they are certainly quite sufficient for you to follow along with the story. Just realize that there will be some words which are mistakes, as the translation is automated and based upon how the words sound to the computer.
13:27 -- "No, Sonny Jim, I am Mr. Clutterbuck." "You should be glad." "Why?" "No one could forget a name like that." "It is a silly name." I used to have a friend from England whose last name was Clutterbuck. His boss's family name was Chandler. My friend married a woman whose favorite book when she was a teenager was about two horses--named Chandler and Clutterbuck. True story.
Never watched this as a child but at 56years old I decided to ! Absolutely brilliant 😍

And plenty of dance halls everyone went from one to another no waiting for night clubs and cheap for entry .kids today need this no alcohol milk shakes coke
By the mid 70s, attendance at my local ABC cinema here in north-east England was so poor it was reduced to showing soft porn films like Emmanuelle...

how marvellous this was!
Great movie, horrible amount of commercials! What a shame!
It's such a shame Lynne Frederick (Lucy Allen) life didn't have as happy an ending as this endearing film.

Wall-flowers, wall-flowers

Turn your back to the wall again.
They made a new version of this film but I prefer this one, I’ve seen it many times
Very good excellent 😊
11:23 -- The actor playing Benjamin seems to have learned his lines very well for one so young.
Made the year of the rat, love this movie makes me incredibly homesick for times long ago.
It's a pity about the sound balance; the music overpowered the dialogue at times.
Still, a very good film.
Good film although not quite sure how they got the seasons right at the start from getting the job about Xmas time ,then suddenley arriving at the job in what looks like mid-summer!😅
One of my favourites.

Out of the frying pan into the fire 2:46 to 15:42. Diana Dors England's Marilyn Monroe as stunning as always.

Very nice 🎉🎉 selling toothpaste every 3 minutes .Adds 😢😢
Diana Dors ???
Diana Dors is the barmaid.
Great old English period film from a time before all the woke box ticking.
Language options should be expanded....

Diana Dors an ex sex symbol sixty years ago becomes a good comedian.

That's what mute buttons were invented for.
