What tool is used to take housing part off? A flat head and phillips screwdriver doesnot work, I've tried.

It’s a star bit or use a small flat head. But any hardware store carries the “Star bit” type which is a bit different than the ones you tried. Hope that helps 🐾

It depends on usage! A typical blade drive can endure a full six months to a year of use.

Why does a drive tip need to be replaced? And how do I know if it needs to be replaced?

Hi Jan! It is a wearable part that is constantly in motion when in use and therefore needs replaced once worn down. It’s obvious a blade drive needs replaced when a blade drags, rattles on a clipper, or leaves marks in a dog’s coat.
