She just turned two and she has always been going to a groomer but since I started watching your amazing videos. I have now started to groom her myself😬. Thank you Amy!
Just learning so I can start grooming my miniature American Eskimo. I have been very unhappy with how most of the local groomers handle my dog & just don't trust them. I hope you have some videos that can help me.
Being a groomer/vet tech for many years (and now I own a dog spa as well).. I have to give you props sister!..thank for taking the time out to educate dog lovers/owners! I can tell you have compassion for what you do! God bless you!
Finally a no bullshit video full of HELPFUL information, I went through about a dozen misleading and pompous videos before I got to yours. I needed this to cut my own dogs hair do to the lock down.
Thank goodness for some expert advice, this gal knows her stuff and cares about the pooch too. I am a groomer with 15 years experience and completely concur with your advice about nothing shorter than a 7f for all the reasons you state. I am in Australia and a dogs coat protects against the heat & cold. Please never clip your collies or Chow Chows or Shepherds or Retrievers or Labs etc etc.
I'm SO GLAD to have found your channel! I love that your methods are so incredibly supportive & comforting for both our dogs & us. My poor Chorkie (Chihuahua-Yorkie) needs her nails trimmed desperately & could really use a haircut. I've been combing through video after video in an attempt to learn how to do these things myself during the COVID-19 lockdown. After watching your nail trimming video, I'm confident I can do that. Hopefully after watching this video again (I've seen it once, ordered my clippers, & now that they've arrived I'm watching it again, just to make sure I've got it down), I'll be ready to put my baby into the bath & get her makeover started! Thanks for doing these invaluable videos!!
Just bought the Wahl Km10, it came with the 10 blade, and I got the Wahl original Comb Attachments ( they had a new version of Wahl combs attachments, but they looked flimsy or less sturdy) so I went with the original ones ...and of course the Andis Cool Care & Oil. The KM 10 CLIPPER is AMAZINGLY QUIET wow wow, just wow ! Trying to get an attachment on was TRICKY, but I get it now...the spring action on the bottom lip.
thank you! i never had dogs that needed grooming before, then got a Burnadoodle, and ended up with my mom's Schnauzer when she went into an assisted living place. the lady i was taking them to was chargine 5 for the little one and 120 for the big one. in two years it went up to 80 for the little one and 170 for the big one... so invested in two sets of clippers... to be fair, i try to do it while they're sleeping so many times they are done on one side and not the other, but we're not entering any competitions! nice to get the skinny on these things.
Oh, I'm so happy I found this video. I worked as a bather but really want to start grooming and can't find anyone to teach me. I already used a clipper to help the groomers I was working with, but they never really had the time to explain me in details. I'm ready to purchase my own and first grooming tools and train on my Maltese poodle, this video was very helpful!
Oh my goodness, I have learned so much from your videos! I do grooming at home for my GSDs and your instructional videos have taught me so much, THANK YOU!
We have a field 50 pound tri-color Springer Spaniel. We just ordered the Wahl KM-10... We now have The Oster 5A two speed & The Oster hand held too heavy. Thanks for being there.
I have two shih tzu’s since the COVID-19 they are pretty bad I’ve ordered everything I would think I need. I was trained to groom but it was a loooong time ago I’ve been searching on what was the best video and wow I happened to see yours and I’m so appreciative that I found you and I did subscribed to your videos.
Hi Amy. Nice video! I also use blade wash. I use it after brushing the hair out of my blade and before oiling it. I spend a great deal of time cleaning my blades because it’s so important. I was talking to a woman online and she didn’t even realize you were supposed to oil the blades! She said how do you clean them and where do you put the oil? It made me wonder just how many people out there were neglecting them like that! Love ya! Mary 🥴
Thanks Sweeite:) You are right...a lot of people don't understand how to maintain their blades and clippers. This causes them to not work properly, people get frustrated and throw them aside. That's why we share our secrets Mary on Go Groomer...We make a difference together:) Love you too! Hugs to you and Hubby!!!!!
Thanks. Did my first cut on my mini schnauzer/ yorkie mix with my new andis. And not half bad job if i say so myself. With practice i'll do better but it's still tough to master the scissor work around the paws. Thanks for the maintenance tips.
I have an f1 GoldenDoodle who will be 5 months old on the 29th of this month. I live in Rural central Texas, so not a lot of groomers around. Fortunately have a Church Lady friend who got a similar Doodle about 2 years ago, so I've started picking her brain about her experiences. I'm 75 & have never owned a dog that needed this much attention for grooming; just weekly brushing & Nails. I'm spooked about nails as I've gone too short before, so I'm looking at every video I can to see how to do a better job. My vet will do it for a reasonable fee, but only if I take Jack in for shots or a procedure. I don't want Jack to have a bad experience, so I'm working hard on that skill, so I won't hurt him. Been watching your videos non-stop for about a month, and you inspire confidence Trimmers won't be here for a few weeks, so Jack is getting combed & brushed almost every day. There is just SO much to do with a puppy. Thanks for all you are sharing. I'm watching daily! LindaMc outside Bandera, TX.
Make sure you have good nail trimmers. She suggests some. And know, with time and use, they dull. Buy new ones. I was SHOCKED at how new nail clippers sliced so easily. Take little nips. If you practice on a few toes a day, you make it a habit for your pup!
Thank you so much I have a 11 shiti toyAnd I’m so glad I watch your video on blades It was very helpful I did use the rolls of blade and I did use the ceramic because everybody said get the ceramic but the man who sharpen the blades ruined them They wouldn’t even cut anything after he got there with him a lot of money wasted so I ordered another blade a seven and a 10 blade thank you so much for talking about which ones to use I’m gonna watch a video on how to do it
This is my first time enjoying your UA-cam channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it.
F="finish cut" for smooth finish but I use the for pre-trimming too. FC="Finish cut" SK= "skip toothed blade" Note...different blade manufacturers have different naming conventions for their blade but "F" and "FC" are the same:) Hope this helps:)
I have 2 schnauzers. One 2 and one 16. I have to take great care of my 16 year old. Groomers don’t like older dogs because you have to groom in increments of time. Takes a long time. I am about to order clippers because mine is at least 30 years old. Just had it sharpened and cleaned by a professional. I will follow the guide in clipper blades. Thank you so much for all your information. So, what jacket (grooming frock) do you use...I have dog hair all over me...I now wear a mask. But my cloths I have to wash right after I do any clipping. I will look on Amazon. Thanks again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO SHARE THIS VDO. You’re right. I got one from pet shop, used one time and very disappointed. I’ve Labardoodle 33 LBS. What’s the clipper brand your suggestion? I wish I found your VDOs before I bought that one. I know nothing about clipper or cutting my dog hair but I love him so much and would love to learn how to do it right for my lovely dog. He always make me happy and this is a little thing that I’d do for him in return. Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for all this great info. I have more confidence grooming my dog now! Which blade do you recommend for trimming a Norfolk? We like them a bit longer & scruffier looking - not show ring dogs.
GSD female. I want to clean up her sanitary areas, tummy and hind leg area. I bought a Sminiker with adjustable balde (.8 mm to - 2.0 mm) and 4 clip on combs (3n - 6- 9- 12 mm). Of course I just now saw your guide for buying clippers with detachable blades (sniff-sniff). I may have to return the Sminiker.
Portuguese Water Dog. 11 weeks old today. This pup will be 2.5 times the size of my last dog. My wife scissor trimmed him. He was a poodle mix. I used a cheap wahl and it did ok.
I have a Golden doodle. I have now tried twice to groom and trim my dog. Holy cow it takes forever. I believe it is due to my dog's thick hair but also, the lousy clipper I have. Looking for better clippers. Wahl km10 I believe is what I going to go with. Great video. Thanks. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers.
Thank you. I’m a moron when it comes to clipper blades. I was trying to de mess my cat and the #9 guard still left super long hair but people were saying to use a #10 blade. Not guard. So I took the guard off and was just using the blade on there. It has a dial so idk. I was Just going to town. My cat is still messy but at least now she’s cooler for the summer and no more mats.
Really wanted to know difference on heads we attach to blades. Ive ao many different sizes and struggle to know which attachment to use for small maltese dog
Great Video!! Some of these groomers who have 200k suck! You are truly a good example... I have a German Malinois (German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois Mix). She is mainly INDOOR with me. I know not to shave her double coat and that it can take 2 years (give or take) to regrow, risk promoting bug bites, and ruin protection against the sun, etc.. That's why I mention she's indoor with me mainly. Do you think cutting with a 1-2inch clipper would be bad? What do you think is ideal in regards to utilizing clippers? I brush her, I use deshedding shampoo + conditioner once a month sometimes once every 2 months, but I'd like to ask your opinion on this topic so I make the safest decision - after I compare your answer across other research of course because I care THAT much :)
I am so glad you reached out to me and thank you for your faith in my grooming knowledge. I'm going to tell you what I would do If your shepherd was my dog... I see you understand the purpose of your beautiful dogs coat and the importance of properly caring for it so it can do it's job for your pet. Please watch this video COMPLETELY as I made it for pet owners with double coated dogs. I want to hear your thoughts in a comment after you watch that video:) Cutting into a double coat will absolutely effect the regrown and undercoat to top coat ratio. Hope this helps my friend:) ua-cam.com/video/mNffp7wdN3E/v-deo.html
@Amy Leigh what is your opinion on the difference between Wahl completion blade vs Ultimate completion blades? Do the Ultimate ones really cut 2x faster?
Thanks for the tips and kindly help, have a mixed with poodle his hair is wiry and then some parts thick, so need to know what size clipper would take care of it, my groomer would cut low enough but not to the skin, since some parts of his fur is thinner. Scared to death of hurting my dog so like to get informed and learn.
Great video, very nice looking groomer. I have an Australian Shepard, definitely would like to see a trimming video. I don't want to shave or cut coat just trimming tips.
Sister are you still having a webpage and sharing in the comments? This is the end of September 2023 I was going to buy a Clipper for a lady friend in the Philippines and send it from the USA she's trying to make a living there she's got children it's very very difficult she used to be a groom or working for the veterinary for several years and I said well maybe I can buy you a Clipper set and I watched your video thank you for the information but now I see the prices of them are very high is this normal is this overpriced the km10 Wahl is about 275 dollars plus I need to get her the oil and the cool spray and one through seven blades thank you for the advice but should I be looking for a bargain price or is that about it $275 for the clipper? Because I'm poor and it's just going to be a gift and sent to a foreign country what do you think is this price to high thank you
I got everything I wanted and first time used the Wahl KM10 with blade #10 and F7 yesterday. My Labardoodle looks like he walked out from the groomer shop. Wish I can send you a picture. My husband said that my dog has the best hair cut. His hair looks evenly. Wow!!!! What a big difference result using the good tool. I was scared at the beginning and keep replayed your VDO to get it right and make sure it safe for my lovely boy. The only area that I still can’t do it is around his paws. The V shape cut. He doesn’t stand still. Any advise/tip? Thank you so much to share your knowledge to all of us.
Suteera C I’m so proud of you!! Great to hear 😊 I have a video called itens to keep your dog safe on the grooming table that could help you;) hope it helps 💕
Just today, I decided I will do my pet grooming with my own yorkie, and thus I just ordered at amazon a Wahl Clipper Pet Pro Combo Kit - Model 9284. I wonder if you can tell me what blade size do you recommend to use with a yorkie? By the way, aren't detachable blade clipper too expensive to use by a non-professional at home? I believe the clipper which I mentioned above is a non-detachable clipper. Thank you for your informative video.
I have yorkies and shih tzu. I have the k wahl 10... thanks to you. Do I need all of those different sizes blades. If not which should I have besides the 10. The same question for the clipper guards.
Hi, thanks so much for your videos, I’ve learnt so much and now grooming my mums 4 standard poodles. I purchased the wahl KM10 and were great for the first 3 grooms then they’ve started getting really hot after 2 minutes running and are catching the coat. I’ve cleaned and oiled the blade but so many times but makes no difference. Do you think they are faulty or am I doing something wrong?
Debbie D hmmm... I have never experienced that with this clipper. However, I know they come with a 1year warranty. Maybe you should call the device number and talk to a rep.
I want to buy the clipper set you talked about, but Amazon is so expensive. I'm 81 on S/S and can't afford my groomer anymore so have to learn to trim her myself. Is there less expensive kit I can buy? Plus scissors. My Maltese Cheri needs my help to keep her cute. I love your video and instructions. So happy I found you on UA-cam.
Oh boy, when we compromise price we lose quality. I wish I had a inexpensive solution for you and you girl but there is not a cheat set that is safe and works well:(
Hey! I love your videos, they are very informative. I recently adopted a dog from a dog shelter. His undercoat is extremely matted right next to the skin, maybe with a 5mm growth underneath the mats. In my city there are no reliable professional groomers, so I need to remove his coat myself. He’s got a very thick double layered coat. You say in this video that anything below a 7 is dangerous for the dog’s skin. But I would need to go with a 6mm-5mm blade in, otherwise the mats will not come out. What would you advise in this situation?
Just found this video and you did a wonderful job explaining! I'll be watching more. I have a very figity Maltese. He will not even let me brush his legs most of the time. He's very fragile (?) and will yelp when I touch certain body parts as if he's in pain. Vet said he's not in pain. Very fine hair. I want to keep his hair length about 1-1/2 inches. (Trimmed... NOT shaved) What size blade and/or clip should I use? It come with these comb sizes..... 3mm/6mm/9mm/12mm/15mm/18mm No where does it say what the fixed blade size is. I just ordered a oneisall set (fixed blade) as it is the only one I could get without waiting WEEKS with all the backorders from covid situation and doesn't cost a hundred dollars or more. I imagine I'll return it for one that I can use interchangable blades. I still have to wait 2 weeks (?) for it to arrive.
Hello, i really love your videos, they are super helpful! I have a 7 month old Aussie doodle With pulì in it too. His fur is wavy and thick. What blade number do you recommend for his body, paws, face, ears, legs, and genitals? Thank you.
This video is awesome!!! I really appreciate you showing how to care for the clippers at the end. Just a few questions. Is it possible to wait too long after caring for the clippers and have to re-oil before clipping? Where can you go to sharpen clipper blades? Just wondering if it's better to just buy new ones when they don't cut as well vs pay some service fee to sharpen. Thank you!!!
Hello! Thank you for this video! I’m training in dog grooming right now and loving your videos! I was wondering how often you clean and oil the blades? Would it be after every dog groom or at the end of each day? Thank you!
What about the skip tooth blades for a Great Pyrenees/Komondor? She gets mattes so so easily. If u see one there’s actually 20 already. I’m just learning with her. I’m just at home with my own dogs.
GREAT video. I have the ANDIS AGC SUPER 2 SPEED dog trimmer. Do you think the WAHL trimmer blades will be compatible with it. Let me know please. THANKS.
Your videos are awesome. I have a wahl clipper that says 30 15 10 on it. It is adjustable with a slider. It also have a bunch of guards. How do i use this? Thx
I've looked through some of the comments but I can't find what I need to ask u. I've seen the attachment of the vacuum on 2 dift. Clippers. I've looked all over. Ok so my question is where can I get this attachment. I have an Andis. Thanks so much!
Hi Amy! Thank you SO much for your videos! They are saving me and my dog's high maintenance fur during quarantine! I'm forever grateful! Question: Is there a more eco friendly/ sustainable substitute or way to care for the blades besides the not super eco friendly/ sustainable looking Andis Cool Care? Thank you!!:))
Alcohol followed by vegetable oil? I never tried this but the alcohol will sterilize and the veggie oil will lubricate. Of course only use a tiny bit of both:)
@Go Groomer I know this answer is long after the original question, but may help others along the way... I think that using the Andis cool care IS more "sustainable" as caring for the blades will stop you needing to replace them, and delay needing to have them sharpened. Their manufacture would take a lot of energy, more than the spray is 'bad'. Chemically, vegetable oil goes gluggy at high temperatures/as it evaporates and can also go rancid as it oxidises, NEVER use veg oil for lubricating, only for eating ;-D never on anything like bike chains, sewing machines or clippers.. that goop on your cookwear is vegetable oil residue. It is chemically "very stable" which actually means 'near impossible to break down'. This residue will utterly ruin your blades, stop them from sliding over each other and builds up faster as the blades get hotter. This is a job for very high quality mineral oil. It is easy to make these mistakes while trying to consider sustainability, but Sustainability starts at manufacture, and loving and caring for the precious things we need to use so they don't need to be replaced unnecessarily.
I have an Anatolian Shepherd in Texas. For his comfort, we give him monthly hair cuts. Occasionally, I'll pay to have it done, but that's about $150 for a decent clip. He's also lazy. He just lays down and I clip one size at a time. He's pretty awesome. What size blade would you recommend? He is double coated. It normally takes about two hours to clip him.
HI Amy, I have an Andis AG2 and I use a 15 blade with a 1/4 inch guard for the body and the 1/2inch guard for the head. I have a 15 lb. Havapoo. He has part curly and part wavy hair. Is this the wrong size? He grows hair like a sheep and really fast! Thanks, I love all your videos.
Hi! Thank you for all the info. I am trying to purchase some tools and gain some knowledge to practice on my own dogs to see if I would enjoy being a groomer. I looked on amazon and there are so many options I wanted to just purchase what you recommend. But almost all of the product you have linked is out of stock. For a very new beginner should I just purchase anything and start from there or should I try getting the tools from a different source. Thanks for your help!
I have a very tiny Yorkshire terrier desperate to learn how to look after my yorkie I don’t have a groomer I live in United Kingdom in a village called Aviemore I am I’ll and find it hard getting out and about so my dog is my everything to me so could you please help and advise me what I need to keep him health and happy thank you so much for sharing your tips with us as you know we are in lockdown I spend my life in lock down so tend to use Amazon
Share what breed(s) of dog you have so we can talk “trimming” here in the comments. 💕 Do you groom your dog at home?

I just became a groomer and want to say this video help me. Especially because I’m trying to learn blades and guard combs.
The Duraged Gamer that makes me happy sweetie! And welcome to the grooming industry 💕
I LOVE my Skip-Tooth blade! It took the frustration out of my Andis clippers not getting through a single pass.

I suggest getting a nail grinder it’s a lot harder to quick a dog since it slowly removed nail.

Glad it was helpful!
Love your channel and your personality! Bought a clipper today!
Yay! Thank you! Can't wait to hear how you like your new clipper:)
Very honest person Love it
I'll have to invest in a pair of the clippers your talking about i don't think I've used these b4
Cheers.
My videos will help you tremendously.
I love Wahl the best too. IF you've never used Wahl Magic Clips I think you'll like then and the Wahl Mags are awesome too
Omg you just answered all my questions 😍🥰
Fantastic!!!
Great content. Unlike other famous pet youtubers that talk too much too fast.
Thank you for watching and finding value in my content. I really appreciate your feedback:) Cheers!
Thank you so much for your video. This is so helpful ♥️😊👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the run down. 👍
Any time!
Really wanted to know difference on heads we attach to blades.
Ive ao many different sizes and struggle to know which attachment to use for small maltese dog
I have hundreds of videos on my channel that help with this.
Do you have a video on how to hold the clippers and the angle?
I like it’s the same.
Great video, thank you!
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for the tips and kindly help, have a mixed with poodle his hair is wiry and then some parts thick, so need to know what size clipper would take care of it, my groomer would cut low enough but not to the skin, since some parts of his fur is thinner. Scared to death of hurting my dog so like to get informed and learn.
Red T maybe a number 4 blade would be nice?
Because I'm poor and it's just going to be a gift and sent to a foreign country what do you think is this price to high thank you
Such a great video!! Thank you!
Rubyjinxx absolutely my friend! It’s my pleasure to share this information with you💕
I got everything I wanted and first time used the Wahl KM10 with blade #10 and F7 yesterday.
HI there. Wondering if your blade care class from Mon 3-21-22 will be posted. We missed it. Thanks!
I have yorkies and shih tzu. I have the k wahl 10... thanks to you. Do I need all of those different sizes blades. If not which should I have besides the 10. The same question for the clipper guards.
Just the stainless steal guard combs.
Thank you. This was very helpful ❤️
I love the Cool Care. I even use it on my pinking shears!
Absolutely my friend! Cool care is a great product:)
I wish I had a inexpensive solution for you and you girl but there is not a cheat set that is safe and works well:(
Try the andis AGC 2 sbojld work just fine i believe its $160 on Amazon right now
Thanks so much!!!❤ So helpful!
Any video on my channel shaving matted dogs you will see I use a 7 blade: my choice.
(Trimmed... NOT shaved)
What size blade and/or clip should I use?
It come with these comb sizes.....
3mm/6mm/9mm/12mm/15mm/18mm
No where does it say what the fixed blade size is.
Great share, thank you!
Hello, i really love your videos, they are super helpful! I have a 7 month old Aussie doodle With pulì in it too. His fur is wavy and thick. What blade number do you recommend for his body, paws, face, ears, legs, and genitals? Thank you.
Excellent!
Eunice Franco 💕 thank you for watching🥰
Thanks so much for sharing this information 🥰😍❤
This video is awesome!!! I really appreciate you showing how to care for the clippers at the end. Just a few questions. Is it possible to wait too long after caring for the clippers and have to re-oil before clipping? Where can you go to sharpen clipper blades? Just wondering if it's better to just buy new ones when they don't cut as well vs pay some service fee to sharpen. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
thanks:)
I enjoyed your video very informative. I have two English Cocker Spaniel’s that I’m grooming at home. Do you have a video for that breed?
Hello! Thank you for this video! I’m training in dog grooming right now and loving your videos!
I was wondering how often you clean and oil the blades? Would it be after every dog groom or at the end of each day?
Thank you!
Hi honey! I oil my blades before and after every use....EVERY USE:) It will prolong the life of your blades.
What about the skip tooth blades for a Great Pyrenees/Komondor? She gets mattes so so easily. If u see one there’s actually 20 already. I’m just learning with her. I’m just at home with my own dogs.
Skip tooth blade are unsafe to use if you are a beginner groomer. I don’t even use them at all.
@@GoGroomer ok thx. I won’t even think about it.
GREAT video. I have the ANDIS AGC SUPER 2 SPEED dog trimmer. Do you think the WAHL trimmer blades will be compatible with it. Let me know please. THANKS.
Yes they will
@@GoGroomer THANKS for the response.

I have a new walh set of clippers. 2 pomeranians that need grooming. I don't have a clue, I only know they have a double coat.
This will help you! ua-cam.com/video/YrR7QPbEoBc/v-deo.html
thank you for this video to helping us , i got maltese what blade size ps. xx
I think those comb choices are fine. 🙌
@@GoGroomer Thanks!
My beard Wahl didn’t touch my poof ball cat, which surprised me. This lady seems cool AF.
What size blade does a brand new Wahl clipper come in
They make many models of clippers.
