I think the other thing that works in this "magic trick" is the deliberate use of appropriate music and sound. Timing the trick/scene with the key points in the music track....the crescendo of the "buzz", and the transformation to the staccato "ping ping ping" sounds to ramp up the tension. Very cool stuff. Love hearing your insights (and puns) 🙂

Those are great points. Obviously music can aid immensely in conveying emotion. I was taking sort of a tongue in cheek approach so I didn’t really pick up on the sound design. It’s interesting because even though I was being a bit funny about my review you really do notice how much Nolan and his team as well as Ledger and the cast put into that movie, it very layered and well thought out.

well there was that one scene in batman the animated series where he does the swallowing a sword trick

@@JasonBishopIllusionist it was the episode where he impersonated a clown at the mayor sons birthday party because the mayor said batman was a bigger threat than the joker
