Just bringing up the Kaladin and Tien scene alone can bring me to tears at this point. The single most personally impactful thing I've ever read. Damn you Brandon 😭
I was making so many strange noises when I read that the first time.
You’re a machine, Steve. This must’ve been such a huge undertaking
It's definitely been a process.
3:44 I think this is just a regular reverse lashing, as they glow less than others. And venli propably doesnt know the lashings exactly
Entirely possible, though I wouldn't be surprised if there was something else going on.
I think El is low key my most hype thing in book 5.
He's going to be a VERY interesting character to get to know.
So, on the "eyes glowing yellowish red" thing
I recently learned that there's a certain order in which languages develop names for colors. They start with white and black (or light and dark), then red, then green and yellow, and other colors are named afterward. Before the term "orange" (the fruit came first, btw) came to be applied to color, things that are considered orange now used to be "yellowish red" or vice versa.
Could be relevant. It's probably just a neat coincidence.
Ooh, neat!
So, i think at its core... "surgebinding is the power of gods" relates to the ways that Sazed and TLR manipulated Scadrial. These were originally the powers of gods, and even under supervision in the past humans have destroyed Ashyn using them. As Sazed becomes harmony and grows closer to the shard over his hundreds of years, Sazed hasn't really been able to use these surges again. Overtime shards may realize that gifting these powers to people on their planets may allow them to circumvent their inability to surgebind. Sinilar to how Harmony calls Wax, his sword. This could be related to how Autonomy has been creating Avatars.
Long term I could see the scale of various different invested beings expanding to the point of borderline mini gods, unshackled by shard's intent.
Interesting theory!
Great series, this one was a banger
Thank you!
I think that kaladin’s eyes are described as yellowish red because its actually a mix of colors. Red for corrupted investiture, yellow, or gold rather, for Odium. I think we’re meant to dras the conclusion that his rage is Connecting him to Odium, and that he’s using voidlight, or even corrupted voidlight, to surgebind.
I agree that's what it's implying.
The Doctor is in the Cosmere? Huh. Interesting. I'd read that fanfic.
Just imagine Hoid as his Companion.
Rather than trying to keep his companions alive, the Doctor changes tactic and starts trying everything he can to kill him.
Ugh ok you convinced me. I need to reread before December...
It's always time for a reread!
Buddy Cop journey 🤣🤣
I'm not wrong!
I have a theory about mistborn that cane from RoW. After learning of the way tones can act as an emulsifier for different Lights I started thinking about Harmony. Now, Sazed purposefully keeps the shardic powers from mixing and it's been slowly ripping him apart right? Could there be a hybrid tone of Attrition or Entropy or Balance that could help him wild both without negative effects? That being said, what could generate such a tone. Navani and Roboniel only made it in small amounts when working together. Maybe in the future, a certain Kandra may return to Harmony as a Dawnshard and act as an emulsifier to hold him together
That would be a really interesting development.
I thought the "he" Szeth was wiggin out about, as in "he should not have known" was Taravangian. Mr. T told Szeth in an interlude that his father was dead (the PoV doesn't clarify if Mr. T was lying or not). When Ishar tells Szeth that his father is dead, Szeth looses it because Mr. T "should not have known" that. Hence why Szeth goes to confront Mr. T when they get back from Ishar, and shenanigans ensue. You refer to this later, so why do you think Szeth is talking about Ishar before?
That makes sense. It's always just been a little squirrely in my head.
Personally I prefer to call him Tod
Short and sweet.
Scared for book 5? The more you think about it the worse it gets
Yup...
Ah yes, MAYBE Ba Ado Mishram is in shinover 😏
In the spiritual realm
What do you know Alec?!?
what a book
Indeed
Agreed, genocide is not a "well actually" type of term. Grasping that concept should not be hard, nor should it be difficult to understand that GENOCIDE IS BAD....
I'm astounded by the number of people that seem to disagree on that concept.
This guy must be Sazeb. That is the only logical reason for how he can store all this information.
My copperminds are called Google Drive.
Is the merchant a sleepless?
That would make sense!
