I see shrimp, I click.
Lol
Shrimp gang
I see Nick, I click. Rhymes like a slogan.
It’s as shrimple as that
We started with like 15-20 red and blue shrimp and a couple of ramshorn snails in a 10 gallon tank. We later added a couple of vampire shrimp (which are amazing), a couple of endlers, 2 pygmy cories, and some tiny tetras. It has now become somewhat of a breeding tank. There's now a ton of shrimp and snails and a few extra endlers after they also bred. The snails get fed to our pea puffers in another tank. Since mixing the blue and red shrimp, they created some amazing hybrids. There's red and blue, red and white, blue and white, powder blue, black, brown, a few snowballs, brown, some weird color that looks like a mix of a bag of skittles mixed together. There's even a few red, white, and blue which are pretty awesome being in the USA.
6:31 "Sponge filters are great because they don't hurt shrimp."
-Watches as shrimp launches itself into orbit with the bubble column.
Instead of focusing on culturing a colony of shrimp, I focus on culturing a stable aquarium and a healthy colony of biofilm - which has led to awesome success in my 15 shrimp tanks.
Dude your new moustache looks impressive btw!!
Great video. Little remark, the music is a little to loud for me personally. 😄
Great video.
Just wanted to add: there was Information out there back in the days, its just easier to get good Info these days.
Great information. Amazing video. I would recommend lowering music volume a bit since it's pretty high compared to your voice.
Always enjoy your videos! I really liked how chill and calming the music was in this one too, do you mind if I ask what it's title is /where you sourced it from?
I feel like the background music is foreground music
Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise!!
Watched/listened to this while setting up two new shrimp breeding tanks. Orange pumpkins and blue velvet. Hoping they do alright!
👍) Surface area-java moss and sponges running or not.
👍👍) Don't chase water parameters, they like stability.
👍👍👍)Wood- I use cholla wood because it is all over my land. I have loads of shrimp #shorts to look at.
Right on man! I just got a hand me down tank of Blue Dreams and this info was right on time.. Shout of from Portland Oregon
Great video, brilliant info as always 🐠👏
Hey mate. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated
Great Video! My colony (Red Cherry)is about 3 months old and really taking off! Started with 20 and now have art least 100. Super fun to watch them grow. Appreciate the tips! Aloha!
Great bankside chat - music is good accompaniment - just don't let it dominate your shift and subtle tones.
Your videos are helpful to the community and enjoyable to watch.
Great content as always. Thank you.
Great video, really appreciate the insight.
Love the tanks!!
I do 1 waterchange per month and top it up when necessary throughout that time. It's a 10 gallon with 5 blue dreams (1M 4F) got 2 berried females 1 month into the process! Got this off of one of your older videos and it works great! Water is from established tanks
Great vid m8 keep it up. On thing I would add is info on shrimp tank parasites planaria/hydras
Awesome video
I just ordered 16 orange neo shrimp and 8 amano shrimp. No lfs where I live. Also, your dog is so cute.
Great video mate 🙂
ive been having my cherry shrimp colony for 2 years + now and since my parents bought a water softener in the house I have just been using soft water. I feel like the shrimps are doing well in this water as well, they breed well
boss, definitely stocking up on some shrimp for breeding
I have been running a 30cm / 1ft tank for about 2 years, primarily trying my hand at growing aquatic plants (mostly crypts) - in the last year I have added about 7 'blue dream' shrimp. There was a couple of deaths initially, now there is at least 12 that I have been able to count, maybe more as the baby shrimp are dark at first and with the soil substrate being dark brown to black, they are not easily seen so that they can be counted! The amazing thing about this is that I have not really put any other food in there, maybe the occasional broken up pieces of an algae wafer/pellet, they have been feeding off the bio film the whole time! It makes me wonder if I start putting food like what you have mentioned here in there whether the population grow even more?
Great video, nice moustache :)
Keep Shrimpin'
Looking good mate, now you need caridina shrimp
Shot with in a shot 🤩
Thank you! I love your approach! 😂 Just randomly putting shrimps in your water without worrying about the parameters 😅
I can't do that, my water sucks, it's very hard so I have to use RO water mixed in and still I can't get the GH lower than whatever my values are (over 22!)
Hey, Nick. Great video as always! Do you recommend culling to maintain color in the colony? I was thinking I could have a tank for all my culls or maybe add them to a sump I'm going to be setting up soon.
my tap water on the sunny coast QLD is about 80tds and ph6.8 or less. i see beautiful quality red/yellow/blue shrimp for $3 -$5 online. i stick to breeding Kubotai Rasbora but might try adding some shrimp and see how it goes.
I love all your videos. May I make a suggestion? The music audio is a bit too loud; it makes it harder to follow your wonderful Aussie accent!
Tried with 5, 10, 20, 40 liters and they all worked very well for breading, stability may be the only big difference
If you arnt able to add coral ground cuddle fish bone can work as a good supplement
What is best when creating a colony, 20 shrimp from one source or 5 shrimp from 4 different sources?
Checked the site and I saw a delivery estimate to Canada and tried to order with no luck :( I'm excited to try out your foods when available here!
I got 20 shrimps to clean my 30 gallon Aquarium with guppys and plecos they breed like crazy (without me doing many water changes) to the point where there where to many of them in that tank so i had to get all the water out of the tank to catch all of them out than i put them in my 60 gallon comunity tank with angelfish that eat the shrimp so that the population of the shrimp arent to many (english is not my first language)
I can't breed shrimp at all.. My mom on the other hand has a stable blue neo tank that has about a hundred or so
your english is great! dont worry.
Does it work well with the angelfish? Does the population increase oder decrease? And how many did you put in there?
Bro sell them don't kill them
I love the Minnesota Vikings shirt in your older video haha. Go Vikings
Great video. Any future vids with glen? 🙏🏻
love from Karnataka
Really hard to hear everything with the music so loud over the voice track.
Skriiiiiiiiimps!!!!
Great video as usual. Maybe just lower the background music to a minimum? It's okay but a little loud. It's distracting from your narration. But I'll watch anyway because your videos are just so good. Thanks again!
I wish I knew why my shrimp are breeding lol I have neocardina, but it was my first tank so I used active substrate, CO2 fed, and my parameters are perfect for caradinas. I didnt know so I bought five red cherry neos from 4 different spots. Three months later i have to have 500 hundred to 1000. Its insane
I've hardly ever had them breed, they live for a long time, but they hardly ever reproduce.
Also, I love the lil mascot.
I aspire to be like him.
FINALLY
I have an 8 L tank (20 cm cube) but there are over 30 shrimps in it, insaneeee they just breed like crazy and I feed once a week or two
My tank is teaming with red cherry shrimp. It's a communal tank with a couple of logs that they seem to love. It's a clean tank. I have no idea what I've done, but something is working for them. Maybe it's the bug buffet?
What are those squiquily things in the crushed coral? Are those worms or some kind of freshwater coral?
5:44 what are the worms (?) growing in the coral? Almost looks like a marine LPS coral!
In the pleco and shrimp tank lid how often do u clean the pleco poop out of the tank and how do u without sucking of all the baby shrimp ?
Breed Caradina shrimp and see how you go. Caradinas will do well in ph7. Then just top up evaporation with RO or rain water.
❤
I've got my first little colony of cherry shrimp. They are so fun to watch. Also, crushed coral is great, it is a source of calcium.
Where did you purchase the coral???
I’ve got a couple at home and would love to add this to my tank 💕
You can use crushed eggshells, they do the same job
❤❤
Hi, what food you feed them?😊
Shrimp 🦐 ❤️🙏
Your dog is so cute 😍
What is it's name and what dog species?
love your version of F around and find out! "Suck it and see"
Just waiting checking water makings sure it’s ok is best
Hi, can you please do a in depth video of you’re l183 tank ? I can’t find solid info on perimeters and diet. Thank you (or at least respond on message) Thanks again
What was the pink anemone looking (thing) in the tank? Looked like it was moving. Fresh water anemone?
Hey Nick, love the content but hearting a comment and not answering the questions in those comments seems a bit superficial.
I like to work of the tds only
With my cherry shrimp too
It is thriving.
I don't use crushed coral
I use Mediclay make it into a ball for shrimp an a water mix for my fish
Just don't over use it
An you get the benfits
It's marketed for koi fish
An it only works on them freshwater fish honest . Nothing else 😂
Thanks Nick I want to set up a shrimp tank but I live in the bush on rainwater only with a pH of 4.6 what would be you thoughts on raising ph and tds.coral only bottom?
Look on internet for articles about stones for higher ph, maybe you can find some near. Or you could buy minerals salts to raise the ph.
@@TheRiager thanks for pointing me in the right direction
I'd love to have you come to America to help me tweak my system and set up my store
You have pleco on shrimp tank? Is that safe?
Mark does in Marks Shrimp Tanks ✌️
Are you going to distribute your food in the USA?
Galon?? Come on bruv, you live in Australia
What are the worms in the coral?
I have one colony of each color. However, the last month i started seeing purple shrimp out of my blue colony. Shall I cull them? Or separate them into a separate colony for just purples? Not sure yet if they'll breed true 🤞
Can you pls do African Butterfly fish pls they my favorite fish ever , and there's not much information on them.
If you can get them there
If you can in Australia
What are those worms on the coral?
What were those growing out of crushed corals?
Black worms.
by the way, 3.5 cm is really uncommon for cherry shrimp. 1.5-2.0 cm max is much more common
Wow mine are extremely happy then I have quite afew that are 4cm. Thay cap out at that size in my water but I have super hard water and feed them botanicals :)
@@loganmanweiler4957 Yeah, it also depends a lot on the morph. Some colours are based off of a different variety of cherry shrimp that gets much bigger. I think blue is one of them but don't quote me on that
What are those worm things wiggling around?
They would be Australian black worms.
Naw this was posted 4 min ago
Op... i have tried to breed shrimps many times but it fails ;( and they end up died but my Molie breed never failed me i succefully did it and now the frys are 1 month and 1 week old :) pls give me shout out though
This is me from a diffrent acount pls give a shout out ;)
I have a 3 gallon tank, i see the shrimp get pregnant in there but i never see the babies, so i wonder if they drop the eggs due to space restraints, or i dont have enough males and have mostly females
It started with 10 shrimp- some had eggs. Few weeks later my whole tank was shrimp! Them buggers multiplied like crazy, picking up any food they can work with- one morning I looked inside: they picked the whole bottom clean! Like they had vacuums! I didn´t know what to do.
Then something happened, the females eggs turned green and they started dying. Water was okay, I checked. Sometimes later they all were dead. I´d like to have some again but how to control population? That would be my question. Thanks, Mate!
How long untill they are big enough to chuck on the barby? 😂
Without soil? 😮 How to PH control?
Why type of algae shrimps eat ?
Which type*
I feed mine canned green beans once a week and they GO TO TOWN
I have seen shrimp with eggs, the water should be perfect. The snale population is booming but no baby shrimp.
Maybe the snails are eating all the forming biofilm
@@Whitewing89 Yes you are right .. all may shrimp tanks are snails free . They out compete the baby shrimps
Idk I've just had bad luck no matter what I did. I've tried a few times but they just always died
I love your vids you are a very knowledgeable chap... but hey mate you got black beard algae on your lip bro stop kissing fish lol
Respect the stache

Why does the music have to drown you out ?
Just went on your website to buy some shrimp. You dont ship to the US. 😢😢😢 Atleast california man cmon. I wanted to get some of your shrimp and see the quality. Instead of getting these cheapies from elsewhere
Can you just use metric? None of this gallon and foot stuff.
He may be catering to us US viewers where we're stuck in antiquated imperial measurements. BTW, personally, I prefer the 24-hour clock.
Nick, please stop with the music, it adds nothing and just makes you harder to hear.
I like the music, but it just needs to be a lot quieter, barely noticeable
I like the music, it’s subtle and relaxing
He has the only background music I can stand lol. But it can't be quiet enough that's true. I wouldn't miss it but it don't bother me. So good are his videos. Background music is almost always distracting but Nick gets a pass!
People who think that he need to get oscar Or parrot or some big cichlid --------->
