A shout out to Florida emergency management. I live in a manufactured home in fairway village largo and with help of my veterans affairs case manager,, was evacuated to Dunedin middle school used as emergency shelter for this hurricane. I'm still at the Dunedin middle school which was used for emergency shelter during evacuation, its special needs people. The staff have been complete professionals very kind and loving, supplied excellent care food and service to citizens. Thank you to all employees, emergency people and staff in taking care of us. Still waiting to get approved so we can return too our homes. A few grumpy citizens wanting to leave but I'm impressed by the kindness and love the staff showed and continues to do so. I will probably never again be in the company of a finer group of people. Thank you, too all that served and protected us.

@Davrotu72 i don't have any past experience with this staff, agencies. This was arranged by calling emergency management that was supplied in the local newspaper flyer you receive in you're mail along with standard junk mail. They arranged everything in a timely professional manner and all service was truly professional. Keep in mind its emergency shelter, but lots of thought went into preparation. The many different staff people all worked as a team, very impressive, I can't say enough. In addition , they put in many hours with little sleep. Full attention was given those in need.

I've lived through my share of weather related events, multiple hurricanes and a housefire where I lost everything. My heart is with each of the survivors. Seek out holistic, multi-dimensional, integrated community to get you through. Resilience is key right now and will serve you 6-8 months from now. Keep close to your family, social networks and neighbors because they will be there to support you once the temporary relief has pulled up stakes. Self care practices will prepare you for the times ahead, try them now. Take in that beautiful sunset of yours. Much love to all.

I've been here for all the hurricanes, Katrina dropped s tree through my living room and the house peeled away from around me. I was displaced and homeless as a teenager left alone in a home. It wasn't a pleasant experience to deal with. To think I planned on keeping my wife and kids here and we were going to ride this one out too.. It gives me chills seeing this to think we were going to stay and had it hit nwf it would have had an entire day extra to strengthen... this is horrible, seeing this makes me so sad for these people. I'm in Englewood. Watching a couple minute clip is nothing compared to the 12 straight hours of this. It was like sitting a foot away from train tracks along with pounding rain.
My inside walls shook pictures off and flung things off of shelves(I'm in a cement block home, not a mobile home btw) . There's a boat trailer still on top of the trees down my road. Signs, street lights and pieces of houses is literally everywhere. Water just came back on but pressure is low. Power might be back on in a week or so but at least half of the power poles are on the ground or leaning half way over. We watched porches ripped off of neighboring houses and fly down the street.
The intensity of the storm along with it's size was one thing, but it moved so freaking slow and Englewood rode the top part of the eye so we didn't have even one minute where he eased up. It was brutal.
I wish I could personally thank every local emergency personnel along with the convoys of FEMA, National Guard, disaster teams from all over the country along with power trucks from EVERYWHERE.

I would say many are elderly living in homes they have owned for decades. They are on fixed incomes. There is not flood or hurricane insurance. They may not have family members to turn to. Nor the means to relocate. They will not receive help from FEMA or US Government.
It is heartbreaking to see. These are people who have worked hard their entire life, spent money wisely only to end up homeless at an age they physically can not start over.
It’s happening in natural disasters from hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, etc.

Living in a mobile home in a place well known for its hurricanes isn't a very smart choice.

Because it weighs 3000 pounds and does not produce much lift.

@@smileygladhands I just saw a video with a semi truck on its side. I am guessing it weighs a lot more than a car

All of your guardian angels were working double -triple over time keeping all of you safe. I appreciate your bravery in chasing Ian. I am heartsick for all of Florida. 5 years ago, a boat rescued us from the flooding in Htown due to Harvey. I know what it is like to loss everything. Will be keeping all involved in my prayers.

Be thankful this was not a sharknado. I'm surprised the vehicle this was filmed from was not rocking around. I guess a 10 ton armoured vehicle would be pretty solid in this situation - too heavy for the wind to move and strong if it gets hit by debris.
