I like how Frieza is actually a tad less composed here than he is on Namek. He’s much quicker to flaunt his power because right now he’s still a kid and hadn’t mastered his business smile quite yet.

I love how Goku has truly humbled Frieza. He’s no longer really like this even with his own crew. In this movie when one of his henchman suggested he’s gonna use the dragon balls to grow taller, and that people call him a pipsqueak, I feel like normally that would have called for an immediate execution lol. But Frieza has been defeated and beaten so many times he’s kinda chilled out and been humbled
I’ve been thinking this too. Like I think black frieza left goku and vegeta alive because he likes fighting now (and still needs to get stronger if he ever actually plans to take down Zeno, so vegeta and goku will keep him on his toes until then)
According to Toriyama, that character who exposed his wish was his nanny for a long time, which is why she was confident about how she spoke to him. He wouldn't have killed her. So it wasn't really anything to do with Goku humbling him.

Yea, that is a very nice touch that greatly pleases the fans, but it's never guaranteed given nobody is forced to work on a title again or they may have just died in the meantime between old franchise works. That been said i presume newer voice contracts will have a clause for AI generated dialogues in future works of the same character. This may apply to please fans in these cases in the future.
King Cold shares his voice actor with Beerus in the English dub, and Shenron in the Japanese dub. Both actors were likely already easy to get for the role since they voice more prominent characters in the series.
King Cold was voiced by Brad Arnstrong in the OG dub, the same guy who voices Oolong.
I mean, he also voices Beerus so it’s not like he was busy lol.

I always liked how the scouters were updated to "too high to be read" and don't explode. it's like Frieza took more effort in the safety of his minions

I thought those were cheaper low level scouters, meant for fodder troops, while the higher ups could keep up with higher power levels.

Super introduced a new type than stops reading and dont explode(they dont read higher power levels anymore)

The old scouter that appeared in Z. It reads up to 22,000 and blows up.
Later in Z the Namek saga and after losing all their scouters Frieza called the Ginyu force. The Ginyu brought in the newer Scouter models. Idk how much these second/upgrade can read up but it did read Goku's power level up to 180,000. Frieza in his first form new scouter blew up when he fought Vegeta than Frieza transform to form 2.
In this movie the new scouter no longer blows up.

It actually would've been interesting if this scene had shown Ginyu in a different body. Giving a nod to his body swapping ability, while leaving it up to the viewers to interpret if it's actually him in a previous body, or a different character altogether.
I think the purple body was his original body, he only manage to know the swap technique. It makes sense because when he swap with Goku he didn't know that he had to adapt to the new body.

Elite saiyans and mid-class get comfortable while the low-class get treated unfairly by their own kind like for example those elite and mid-class saiyans didn’t listen to Bardock because he was a low-class saiyan warrior even though he was stronger then all of em they still chose to ignore him kinda similar to how the Ronin lost in saints row 2 because none of them got along with each other and were always arguing and disagreeing with each other and will taunt their fallen comrades if you kill one

It's interesting that Dodoria and Zarbon get more attention here than the Ginyu Force, even though Ginyu and his team are world's above Zarbon and Dodoria in terms of power.
Zarbon and Dodoria are probably better thinkers than the brute force of Ginyu force.
To be fair Zarbon should be in the Ginyu instead of Guldo

Guldo is still likely able to beat him and him being weak is part of the reason why he's dangerous, because people assume he will be a push over. There is a reason why he's in the Ginyu Force and Zarbon isn't, as it isn't always strength that determines how useful they are.
Ironic that Trunks, Kings Vegeta's grandson in the future sliced freiza to a dice, blasted him to the oblivion and made King Cold dying slowly

Frieza originally always came off as older and wiser than his henchmen. Not crazy about them making him younger and not as reserved/sophisticated as he originally was. But still really cool to see.
This was a flashback to him much younger. Vageta was still in a pod the scene before this. And planet vegeta was destroyed years later when vegeta is already taking over planets as a kid. It’s cool to see how Frieza changed

Frieza seemed to like Ginyu
It felt good to the old Frieza force again. They had character and were fun to watch.
The one thing that surprised me is it effectively lets us now that Freiza is actually a lot younger than we though. He must be at least mid-20's or something along the lines of both Goku, Vegeta and Raditz when he met them
Edit: Just caught the "41 years ago" part. so it means Freiza is mid to late 50's.
Goku was still a baby when this scene happened though so frieza is much older than goku

It's sort of weird to think Freiza may have only been 30-35 when he met Goku. He had such a grip on the galaxy you'd think he'd been around longer

remove about 15 years from that. he was about 35. this happens 41 years before dragon ball super. and dragon ball super takes place about 15 years after the events of the frieza saga.
Just saw this movie for the first time last night: I wish I saw it in the theaters. So many nostalgic moments felt like I was 10 years old with so much energy.

Resulting in a life of Cooler pushing himself as he was growing up to get stronger, and prove the worth to King Cold that was just handed to Frieza. Leading to him discovering his final transformed state.

Its poetic how much King Vegeta is humiliated in this scene.
Considering that his son will later wipe out all of the Frieza forces strongest warriors single handedly, his grandson will Kill both King cold and Frieza, and the current weakest Saiyan on the planet will go on to permanently humble the space tyrant.
All the Saiyans used to bow to King Cold and Frieza, and eventually everyone of the frieza race became a punching bag for the last surviving Saiyans.

Thinking of frieza pod just now... it made me realize that frieza is just a spoiled brat. King cold probably gave friezas pod for christimas and then since he has a child mentality in dbz (he gets upset too easy, he wants everything in his manner and he explodes or destroys stuff when he is mad) he never got rid of his toy. I though he used it because he is lazy, but no, he uses it because he is immature.

@@Yasuda9000 Just my personal remembrance, but I think that Zarbon was worried because the Ginyu force being called meant that Frieza was desperate and certain that his normal troops Zarbon included couldn't get the job done. It didn't help that at that point Frieza had made it clear that Zarbon would be killed if he didn't come back with results within a strict time limit.

They transform to control their power
Frieza uses his first form as his base, as he claims his full power is too much to control around most people
So it’s apparent King Cold uses his Second Form as his main form
Before his death. The Z Warriors comment that King Cold’s power was comparable to Frieza in his mecha Final Form
Frieza was supposed to be upgraded in his mecha form, making Frieza confident he could take on Goku, if he was the same at Namek
The reason why King Cold was easy for Trunks to kill. Was because King Cold didn’t have a chance to release his full power
To transform takes time. As he would be unsealing his hidden power
It took Frieza time to transform his other forms
Vegeta and Goku allowed Frieza time to transform those times
Trunks wasted no time to kill Frieza
And wasted no time to kill King Cold
King Cold knew he was outmatched in his current state, and didn’t have time to transform into his Third or Final Form, and attempted bribery, trickery to ambush Trunks which failed fatally
Had King Cold had a chance to transform, remember he had two more forms
At final form, it’s safe to say he might have been able to defeat Trunks And Goku at their current states
King Cold was strong, but Frieza was more ruthless and ambitious
Cold seemed content becoming the shadow leader of the Frieza Clan’s empire, while allowing Frieza to run the day to day operations which he was suited for
Frieza made the Frieza Force into a feared intergalactic empire, all while under the nose of the Galactic Patrol
He destroyed and sold planets on a massive scale, all while being the man who decided to exterminate the Saiyans with Beerus’ blessing
King Cold was more about family pride and was content with Frieza doing the work for him
But it’s apparent he’s the stronger one at least until Frieza changed in recent times
And not counting Cooler

Obviously since Frieza himself sought immortality, we can assume that they do not live forever, but it is a question that I wonder from time to time.

@@ianover6838 Fair enough but it should be considered that old age could be seen as another possible reason for wanting immortality. As various anime have shown, once one grows old, their power starts to leave them. For someone like Frieza or King Cold who would no doubt have many enemies, the prospect of losing their powers slowly would likely be terrifying, in some ways more so than the possibility of being killed in battle. Those who are eager to inflict pain upon those who are helpless to resist them rarely find it appealing to be on the other side of that scenario. Just something to think about.
