- ** NEW VIDEO COVER - "Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots"** Today marks 4 years since Scott Weiland passed away. The night he passed, I started working on this arrangement in the van on my way to a CTS show, planning on performing a solo version of it to pay homage to the singer from one of my all time favorite bands. Years later I decided to fine tune it and record it. STP's music meant a whole lot to me when I was a kid and still does to this day! Please "LIKE" and "SHARE" if my take on this classic resonates with you. I hope you enjoy :)

The greatest solo bass arrangement of a song. Incredible.
Thank you so much, my friend. I really appreciate it!
Legendary man, legendary song
Thanks so much James!!!
Awesome!
Thanks so much!!
Sick!!!!
A few minutes ago I downloaded your latest album with this cover on it. Saw you live in a small venue with Consider the Source a couple years ago. Was cool to be 2 feet in front of you, picking up on your technique. From following you on social media I can tell that you work your ass off, always practicing, always learning, always creating. The qualities of greatness!
Love this John, would love to learn this with you. Aloha
So bad ass!!!!! Unffff
gorgeous
Thanks Juliet!!
Bass guitar is a beautiful instrument
Incredible cover man!!! Definitely one of my favorite bassists to see perform live!!!! Was an awesome weekend saying what's up in Portland/Portsmouth! Can't wait for the next Souce show brother!
Really cool man. Good song to do too. Kinda missed that rapid slap a bit in the new stuff. Glad yah threw it in there. How you do the chorus is stellar. I remember the first time I saw you guys play was at a peace of mind fest, jeff was pretty new in the band back then. I felt like it was like listening to light and darkness fight in sound, gabe the dark eerie tone and your bass lines fighting through on light. Strange analogy I know but stuff like this really takes me back to that first show. Tons of amazing bassists out there, but you're playing is amazingly unique man. Always reminds me of light pushing through darkness. Good job btw lol.
Thanks, a song like this is really fun to interpret because the chord structure and melody are inherently great so you really can't do it in a way that sounds bad haha! Only different ways to interpret it at that point you know?
Exactly just well put together. Honestly for years I'd hear it in the radio going somewhere and be like it's good, think its pearl jam lol. Finally caved one day and looked it up. I.just like how your bass sounds on it. Especially that chorus. All the notes right in perfect melody. You guys always do some wonderous stuff compensating the lyrics instrumentally.
epic stuff John :)
Nice!
Thanks!!
This has such a great feel and is a lot of fun to sing to!
I just realized you have a high C instead of a low B. I switched mine out like that a few months ago and I really like it! I've never heard of anybody doing that but I knew there had to be others! LOL
Thanks! The first time I ever played it live was the night after Scott Weiland died. I played it before the closing song at a show and the whole crowd sang along. It was a beautiful moment! And yea man the high C allows for so much more clarity melodically and harmonically. I love it!
@@JohnFerraraMusic whoa. That sounds like one of those powerful music moments that last a lifetime for everybody involved. Very cool
Definitely teared up a little, it was awesome!
d a m n thats good
Thanks so much!!
Sounds great! Mind if I ask what variety of EMG's you have in your Fodera?
Not at all! EMG 40 P/J . It was what they were using as a standard around 7 years ago when I got it. They sound great, super versatile!
Why a five string
Many reasons! I have a high C string on instead of a low B so I can hit higher notes and have more melodic options. I've also been able to find a lot more tapping patterns having a 5th string, it totally changed my tapping technique when I made the switch. Lastly when I'm slapping and pluck a ghost note it's a lot easier to do it having a thinner string as my highest one.
@@JohnFerraraMusic oke Nice ..i like your technique .. thanks for your time tot answer
