And the upslides followed by the little flourishes are reminiscent of Geddy😊😊
@@allanwalli2935 you know I love me some Geddy :)
Hey John! That was fun! Loved the vibrato bits…and appreciate that mere mortals like me may have a shot at flubbing their way through this. The tone and melody remind of the Ventures and the surf music I heard as a kid. Very cool!🎸🎸💕🥂
@@allanwalli2935 yes I can hear the surf sound in this . Whenever there is slide it lends itself to that for sure
🔥🤜🤛❤
Tapping is not suitable for solo play, after a few minutes it becomes monotonous and boring. In addition, the sound is unpleasant, aggressive and angular. It is very difficult to create a longer solo bass concert that will be interesting for a listener who is not focused on playing technique.
👍👍👌
Really incredible stuff, thanks for sharing
Somehow I knew you were the kind of guy who would wear those toe shoes 😂. Keep it going man!
@@marcello9476 I only recently became that guy, but I also think I always was that guy lol
Thats what i say when i share, warts and all! My last upload was a sloppy cover/improv/jam and it was quite warty but really fun anyways.
@@EscapeTheOverture yeah it’s human. It’s so funny that we got to this point where we need everything to be perfect and we see things as “less than” that aren’t! Good for you for sharing it warts and all
@JohnFerraraMusic thanks man and thanks for sharing all these little shorts, they are wonderful. Gotta find me an old Cube, playing outside is what I miss from my acoustic days. Be well!
@@EscapeTheOverture I hope you find one!! Be well !!
shredding. so inspirational
@@dylanruskin666 thanks so much dude!
John, thanks for these inspiring and informative clips. I wanna be you when I grow up 😂 gotta go practice
@@HiroDavid haha thanks a lot man, and thanks for following my work. Lots more videos to come!
Sick dude this is awesome
@@1ManBassBand thanks man! Back on the looping train
@JohnFerraraMusic hell ya that's a cool train to be on
Mario cave music
@@cademalmay2126 I love that
Ridiculous. Absolutely, ridiculous. Beautifully composed, beautifully performed - unreal on all fronts. Here's half a year that's gonna go to transcribing this and who knows how long to actually learn to play it 😅 Cheers!
@@nram3930 took me about half a year to get this guys written and executed !! Thank you so much for the very kind words! Good luck and let me know how it goes!
To negate, was to perfect!!
@@justinespinosa1962 thanks my man!
When u fire corrosion weapons like this , but that one sharanga on your team uses a abillity:
can you please make a tutorial to play slow and teach this?
Fascinating 👏 ❤
@@ammaressam1 thank you!!
@@ammaressam1 I think about a year ago I did a Reels/shorts lesson on this. If you want to look through and find some of my posts about scale, tapping.
Damn, dude! You're killing it as always.
@@1groove7 thanks so much dude!
Wow that's awesome! 🤘
@@jenkenstein3D thank you!!!
When tremolo tapping, what are advantages of doing Tap/Thumb/Index/Ring if im more comfortable doing Tap/Ring/Mid/Index as most bass players more successful off the bat with that? Of course i practice both ways very slowly, im just better at one way than the other! Shed your wisdom! Thank you!
@@BassicAustinSludge in my infinite wisdom I shall bestow the secret!!! It is that I wrote the wrong finger haha! It’s totally tap / thumb / index / middle ;)
@@JohnFerraraMusic oh thank gawd!
Emily is, of course, right!
@@MikeMountainHawkGourley as always!!
Fast sounds like good neo metal, and I like it but... I could listen to the slow version all day. Makes me think of Iron and Wine and Moriarty.
@@fratmank2130 thanks, that’s my first ever Iron and Wine comparison I’ll take it!
Electic in nature, what a pleasure!
@@Neptoid thanks!! It’s one of my favorite things to do!
John, are using battery for a combo when outside? Whats your “nature” rig? Thanks
@@justPlaySomeBass I’m using an old Roland cube, they don’t make them anymore unfortunately but other companies are picking up the torch
@@JohnFerraraMusic Thank you! And what's the battery for the cube?
@@justPlaySomeBass they run on double A battery’s 6 of em!
@@JohnFerraraMusic thank you!
It's much prettier slow 🙃
@@aJazzcat agreed!
Bravissimo maestro!
@@BRILLIN0 thanks so much man!!
Isn’t some of that supposed to be left hand slap?
@@ApexPeakPlays well I’m certainly doing a very bastardized version of the original lol. But I don’t think Les does any slapping in this tune , odd for him !
Just now diving into this duo. Seth really is an ideal complement to John. I certainly wouldn't call him a minimalist drummer, but he doesn't seem to include much fluff or anything unnecessary. It's just right. Great cymbal work and fitting fills.
@@raymondlehman5548 thank you man! That really man a lot. We had a great run for a few years and he is no doubt such a fantastic player. I’m really glad you’re enjoying this concert !
Sick
@@MrDavincidave thanks my man!
Any chance we’ll get to see the full play through videos of any more songs? These are absolutely incredible to watch all three of you display your talents to the fullest, you guys deserve so much more!
@@Optic3498 thanks man! Unfortunately this is all we have of this song but if you check out my most recent full length videos I have a few more up there from Mono Means One!
Feel good riff of the summer.
@@fgar8259 :) you rule
My favorite you've posted recently. Love the quick four tap on the left hand
@@TheTarinDathyl thanks a lot! Those were tough to get down haha
El video se ve acelerado... Meh
Awesome...that part at the end is part of a song?
@@noobynoobytv5853 thanks!! and nope, that was just an improv based on the scales in the lesson
Dude thats epic
@@NoahTremain thanks my dude!
@@JohnFerraraMusic yeah!
“A joyful Pendulum” I really like the feel of this; how close are we to some new solo songs from you? My brain is itching to be more astounded, lol
@@Optic3498 ahhh thanks and I like that description! Man I have sooo many it’s just a matter of time. I’ll make some announcements soon enough !!
Such impressive tapping. How much of that was improvised on the spot?
@@danecarpenter4152 thanks!! this was sculpted over the course of 30-40 minutes
Very nice performance and music
@@jamesalfaro3155 thanks James!!
Super cool
@@MrDavincidave thanks my man!
Dude HELL YEAH! I always have to check out your videos when i get the notifications... your style is super cool! Im finally getting into bass again, now that i have a bass student again at guitar center! 🎉 Thanks for inspiring me!!!! 🙏
@@jamisonfernandez9751 thanks so much man! And teaching is great, it’ll help you analyze your own player and will help you get better quicker!! Thanks for following my work !
Did you hone your technique by just translating a bunch of solo piano works to bass? I always hear so much Philip Glass in it
Not just by doing that but it was certainly a part of it. I would practice a lot to a metronome and would work on the same ideas with different rhythmic pulses underneath. And i have learned a chunk of Glasses work, check out my cover of Glassworks!
@@JohnFerraraMusic I have, it’s so good.
@@chaucermarberry7615 thanks man!!
Love this
Thanks dude! As always it is much appreciated!
I can't watch these videos and not say how impressive and enjoyable these pieces are. Mind-blowing stuff!
Simply amazing
Thanks dude!!!
As always, a solid listening experience.
Another fantastic composition by an artist always worth revisiting.
🤯
My man!
Really fast and varied The Eyes Have It? Love it!
lol good ear. Its not from that song though i do similar scale runs in the solo section for sure!
Sick dude that's awesome! Is this back in Costa rica?
Thanks man! Nope this is like 30 minutes from me in CT
NASTY - make it a CTS song??
