      I'm probably the biggest cena hater out there. However jbl had successfully weaseled past foes like the undertaker, angle, booker t, and the big show. I was actually hoping Cena won. Jbl was that punk kid who acted like he was tough, trying to impress the girls. And then he tried to fight and got his ass beat in front of the entire school.

    John Cena is my favorite wrestler of ALL TIME. If you were born during the late 90’s early 2000’s this man was probably your childhood hero because I know he was for me, So many memorable matches against : Orton, HHH, Batista, Edge etc, multiple World Championship championships reigns. I know a lot of the older fans hated him when he was at the top in the late 2000’s early 2010’s but he was our Austin/Rock of that time period. John Cena is a certified GOAT

    Cena geta a lot of shit for his ultra Babyface dominance on top (some of it rightfully so) but thinking back on it now, I cannot think of anyone else that could have filled his shoes inside AND outside the ring. The dude was a consumate pro, an excellent ambassador for the company, one of the greatest mic workers of all time when he gets to be, and carried the product on his back for nearly a decade. Helped elevate so many stars including Punk, Bryan, Sheamus, Edge, Styles, and many others, not to mention his latter years where he basically put over everyone he worked with even in defeat.

      @@thegreenpianist7683 You're Wilding out my guy. He ended his career as a babyface and due to his injuries over the years he called it quits. There's a list of AAA talent that remained after him. There was a time he quit for a year or so because he didn't want to drop the title to brock but he returned after that. There was alot of talented guys after he left. The PG ratings just butcherd their story lines. It's wild that you think Cena was pushed because he was the best. He was Corny Clean and Safe and they had to go that route. It's why you slowly saw everyone leave in the years after. The only people that stayed around for the long haul were company men like taker. But before everyone left there was alot of talented people after Steve left. Lesnar, Angle, Orton, Taker, Kane, Batista, Hunter, Rey I mean literally everyone after the ratings dipped the WWE literally started cutting its roster down they let go half of them. All the undercards and most the mid cards.

    • @dustintrips3168
      @dustintrips3168 9 місяців тому

      Thats why it was Cena like fighting the same 3 guys for nearly 10 years. They brought in new cheaper talent during this time to hopefully create some more mega stars but to no success really. Not anything like Cena and Austin and on back. All goes back to the PG limitations. No one had interesting gimmicks. That's the most important part. Look at how deadpan and boring Roman is. They literally brought the rock back to try to push him. Guerreros son is like the cringiest guy I've seen. When Logan Paul is more interesting than half your roster that's really saying something. He's universally hated by half the internet. It's dead.

    I love these long form video biographies through Wrestlers careers! I think it would be better for some of us that fell out of wrestling for a while to have the year (and maybe month) in one of the corners of the screen. It would help us connect dots of what else was going on at that time. I constantly have to pause grab my phone and search a specific thing that you talked about to make sense of what else was happening around certain events of the wrestler you’re covering.

    • @t11bake
      @t11bake 11 місяців тому

      Watched the Punk one right after and it was great too! Also curious why you do the blurry screen. I think it would be better if you just did stills or some other crazy format so you have something to actually look at. Kind of a tease for it to just be a blur while you are trying to listen and figure out exactly what happened behind the blur. Again I love the videos just another suggestion!!

    One thing you didn't mention was how much his being a babyface was tied to his work with the Make a Wish foundation. I remember watching John Cena and thinking he was cool but as time went on and I got older I found him a bit lame thinking he should become a heel as being a babyface was too repetitive. It was pointed out to me by a friend that the reason John Cena probably never turned heel was due to his place as a sort of "super hero" for the younger WWE fans. My favorite promo of his was the "eat, sleep, be John Cena" promo that underscored that idea that even if he wanted to he would be letting the part of the audience down that for me being a grown up I hadn't really considered.

    Otherwise keep up the good work.

    I can see this is supported by Cena fans. Nothing against Cena, but he was forced idowm our throats and in our faces for 15 years as the main guy. Didnt have a credible skill, nor dod he ever connect with the fans. He was pushed simply because he could rap in the most popular era of rap. Was put in front of the camera and given the title. After which he was told to keep a clean look, and gimmick was dumbed down to that like a super hero which was unbelievable and where many stopped supporting or further hated him. It was never hate specifically directed at Cena. It was WWE fans disapproving of the Cena project/product.

      People like you are the reason why John Cena will probably never get recognized for the good he did. John was a baby face not just a baby face but THE babyface. The excuse"ooh he buried talents" Is a stupid one because we can't have their Main eventer loosing to everyone willynilly most especially people the company had no trust in. That is how you build credibility. The truth Vince did not have any trust in your favourite wrestlers so he had them loose. The idea that John Cena can't put up a good match is stupid and absurd.

    When I hear people describe John Cena as "The GOAT" I feel it's disrespectful to Hogan/Rock/Austin & everything they did/meant for biz, not to mention they were all bigger stars/draws than Cena ever was. They also never called spots loud as hell during their matches.

    Cena - refused to lose 9999 times, refused to help younger wrestlers get their light/little boost/push for years.
    Cena - refused because they were "worse wrestlers" than he "is". Cena, you're not Bret Hart, wake the f up.

    I always loved John he is a great human in and outside the ring the different characters oh he will always be my GOAT.... But there is a part of me who always wanted him to surpass Ric Flair's record i always thought he deserves it, his every match was a main event carrying the company on shoulders rising above hate, never giving up, hustle loyalty and respect a generation hating upon him true rags to riches story, him along side Randy, Brock, Austin will forever be in my GOAT lists
