Having lived in FL for a number of years, the springs are probably my favourite part of the State. There are so many of them both on public and private land; no two are alike, and FL springs discharge billions of gallons of crystal clear water every single day. They are the life source for a State that is primarily composed of limestone. The Manatees are such big, gentle creatures and when they want to move, they will book it lol. The further North you travel and visit other springs, the more of them you will see. Thanks for sharing.
Lis, couldn't agree more! We're big fans of the springs and the manatees, and with this year's cold winter the numbers have been incredible. Crystal River (next week's episode) had a count of 900 manatees during the survey the week before our visit! Incredible. 👍 - Howard
Ohhh, we LOVED Silver Springs! We had to visit twice to get the right weather to see the manatees. Fortunately we were in FL long enough to be able to do that, and it was so worth it!
Very true! The colder the weather, the more likely to find manatees near the springs. We saw a handful in Silver Springs, but wait until you see next week's episode from Crystal River... 🤯😂 - Howard
Haha, it's surprisingly hard to maneuver the tandem kayaks! 😂 Silver Springs is definitely worth a return visit, hope you can get up there again soon. 👍 - Howard
There's a saying among whitewater canoeists: Paddle solo, sleep tandem 🙂 Nice episode. Really enjoy the travelogues and looking forward to feedback on the RV!
Wonderful! Silver Springs is on my bucket list. I went to Crystal River in early October and swam at Hunter Springs but the manatees weren't there yet. Florida has SO many incredible state parks. I hope you visit a lot of them. I want to go back and visit some more.
Agreed, Lisa! If you get the chance to visit Crystal River in winter, just incredible the number of manatees and the opportunity to snorkel with them! 👍 - Howard
Awesome! I live about 40 minutes from Silver Springs. I’ve hiked there and did all the boats. Yeah, Tarzan movies and other films and series were filmed there. Historic place! I’ve also hiked by Newnans Lake as well, and it’s around Gainesville. The one thing I want to do at Silver Sprjngs yet is canoe the Silver River all the way down to the Ocklawaha River.
I absolutely loved this video!! The baby Manatee! Such sweetness.A freak out is ok.😂.You were looking out for the Manatee. Thank you for this. Big hugs for the puppies.❤️❤️🇨🇦
Cool spot. You mentioned it at the end which is the Crystal River. I did my classroom and pool work at home but did the open water portion of my scuba certification in the Crystal River. Two days, four dives and watching these incredible creatures. They are so ugly they are cute. Did see a couple babies and they are just awfully darn cute. My diving holds great memories. From the Crystal River to deep shipwrecks of Isle Royale( still hope you get there) to the shipwreck the Rhone in the BVI. Hey all you guys you have seen the Rhone on film. Can't remember? The movie was called the deep. Still can't remember? Two words----Jacqueline Bisset. Listen to all the heads nodding now.
Dan, what a beautiful spot to certify for scuba! Katelyn snorkeled with the manatees in Crystal River, it's in next week's episode. The weather was mixed, but you could still see and let the manatees get close to you in the water. Such an incredible experience! 👍 - Howard
Love this park. I went in the 70s before it was a state park. They had all kinds of animals and parrots, and even a classic car museum. Fun video guys.
Yes, lots of interesting history at Silver Springs! They are doing a lot of renovations at the park right now including new dining and other public areas. 👍 - Howard
We kayaked at Silver Springs in March and saw the monkeys 🐒 We stayed across the street at the Silver Springs RV Park last winter! Wonderful places here!
My mother went as a kid and then we went as kids. Fun times. If you go to Volusia area Hull's Seafood Ormond Beach has their own fishing boat, market and restaurant.
OMG - ok, I have lived on sailboats for 30 years - how on Earth did a couple live on that? Awww the baby & mom manatees remind me of whale babies & moms! Tandem kayaks cause headaches. This park looks amazing! We just left Florida a couple of days ago, but now we will need to go back - ha ha!
We stopped there a few years back and it was cool. Very nice park. Yeah the monkeys are there 😂 We saw the Tarzan and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Kayaking is a workout for sure ✌🏼
There is a walking trail, the Spring Trail, that connects between the museum and the kayak launch area (it's labeled on the map as 2.3 miles, so probably 3 miles one way from the campground). From there, it's about a 15 minute walk to the boat dock for the glass bottom boats. It is possible! 👍 - Howard
Thanks! While we're not fans of beaches have done the theme parks, it seems like there's a ton of other really cool stuff to see and do in Florida. Definitely worthy of a month or so visiting it! @@NewstateNomads

Stop helping ! 😂. I went at ten years old in 1970. Live a hour and a half away and need to go back. Thanks for sharing.

One of my favorite FL state parks, I remember going there even as a kid.
Can definitely see why it's one of your favorites, Michelle! Silver Springs has a lot going for it, and we loved our time there. 👍 - Howard
That baby is so cute!
Awhhh the beloved sea cows ❤
Many, many more sea cows to come in the next episode! 🌊🐄

Florida is a perfect place to be this time of year weather wise.

So glad she did that. When you guys are 105 it will be a great rocking chair moment.
Y’all are AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!!
We are definitely kayak people, but those boats offer an amazing view! Thanks for sharing. Safe Travels

Love the videos. They need to be longer.
Hi guys
Alwaus interesting stops. Love your videos. Thanks 🎉
Thanks, John! Glad you're along for the journey! 👍 - Howard

What a fun video! I have never heard of that park. It looks so cool. Kenny and I love kayaking, but there is a reason we each get our own! 😂
Shannon, say no more, I think I understand why! 😂 We'd love to kayak with y'all sometime, with 4 kayaks of course. 👍 - Howard

Such a beautiful park, and glad we got to finally check it off the list! Did you see monkeys on your visit?? - Howard
We saw a few but it was cold so they were not out in force.
Great video! Any chance there is any sort of dedicated bike or walking trail from the campground to the manatees?

It's a great State Park! We were there just a few weeks ago, mid February!
