Sandra Jovic PatrolOfficer161 Daniel Smith I likes Grainger, Tebs, and Goldberg. They should have given Grainger a “farewell party” for Grainger in honour Of Arthur who had died. His wife died, and he got so depressed that he quit the show, stayed with their daughter for a month, then sadly passed away from grief shortly after.
What did Tebb's do that was unforgettable? How about the time he pretended to be a Greek vicor / priest... and pulled it off... Oh, besides that, nothing. L😄L
🐙Mr Tebbs had a great voice...I wonder did he do any narration, like audio books. I'd love to listen to him reading something like the Wind In The Willows. Just a wonderful voice.
Mr. Tebbs also acted as a rich man, was it a ship builder to help save Grace Brothers from take over. They all had additional parts then. He was hysterical with currants in his ears from a wedding cake on the head.

The old man being interviewed was so precious. One couldn't help but feel compassion for him. Mrs. Slocombe couldn't help but feel pity. The other candidate was too much like Mr. Humphries
Mrs. Slocumbe felt compassion and empathy, for Mr. Webster, and sorry he lived in a packing crate in Covent Garden, She sympathized with him, but never pity.

I love the fact that Mrs Slocomb's hair changes colors every so many episodes
In fact every episode. In the beginning she was dying it a new color for every episode, but later on she started using wigs.
I have a notion to second that emotion !! Helps make the series funnier !! :-)
@doctorwho0077 Ha ! Yes, that always cracked my up when Mrs Slocumbe would make a comment & then utter , "...and I am unanimous in this !" Thank you so much for your follow up comment ! CHEERS ! :-)
coloured hair is kind of silly...
Tamer Aydogdu It’s no wonder that she started wearing wigs. Her hair probably was fried.
However, Mrs Slocombe had many of the cutting edge one-liners, most of the were about her 🐈
Mr. Humprhies wants to be the "Only gay in the villaaage"
You have to hand it to Mr. Goldberg for being crafty about getting his friends in to buy a hole bunch of items, to secure him the position of Senior Assistant. 😋
KitsuneAdorable you’re missing the whole point. His friends were actually shopping. It wasn’t a set up. He had a clientele which followed him. The sales got him the equal commission. Blackmailing peacock got him the job.

All gone now. If there is a heaven I hope they are all in it for making so many people so happy.
They all helped with making life heavenly. I am certain Heaven is Real, so no worries there.
Very True, the actors and real characters they brought to life brought laughter and happiness. The actors and actresses very believable, and they did become family!!!

@Marinka RMC That's not exactly how it works. We are all separated from God because of our sin. Jesus died to pay for those sins so that those who hear the message of salvation and believe and repent, can receive the promise of salvation and live forever in God's presence. Those who don't have chosen a different fate.
@@TheJackdratt73 Heaven IS real, but there is a prerequisite to getting there, and that is to believe and repent. Good deeds aren't weighed against bad ones. That's man's attempt to get to heaven. God's standard is to believe in Him, repent of your sin of living your life apart from Him, and then striving to live an obedient and perfect life, being lead by the Holy Spirit.
Mrs Slocome was ahead of her time with the green hair.

Yes, so right. No matter how lowly some people may perceive others in their jobs, if they do a good professional service, and conduct themselves accordingly, then they will always earn respect, and even admiration. It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it!
@Nenethegreat W I wouldn't know about that, but what I do know is that I certainly worked for low (seriously) low wages - at the age of 11.
@Nenethegreat W What, do I hear an assumption??? I earn my living, thank you very much..
The old man being interviewed was so precious. One couldn't help but feel compassion for him. Mrs. Slocombe couldn't help but feel pity. The other candidate was too much like Mr. Humphries
I loved him in The return of Pink Panther.
As Mr. Chalk the gardener.
Mrs. Slocumbe felt compassion and empathy, for Mr. Webster, and sorry he lived in a packing crate in Covent Garden, She sympathized with him, but never pity.
Mr. Beauchamp was disliked by Mr. Humphreys.
He was the old fellow looking for some beachwear with his wife who later played Lady Weeble Abel Smith, and was also the "juror" with the screechy hearing aid when Mr. Humphries was being investigated for stealing from the till.

"The agony column of the Beano! "
My ribs hurt!
I had to look Beano up. I did know that an agony column is like advice to the lovelorn, things like that (here in America the biggest example of that type of column was Dear Abby, and also her sister Anne Landers).
Love, love, love Mr. Humpries. A laugh a minute😀
Robin Neher cuz not sure he's a laugh a minute, some jokes overdo it...so...but I agree he's very funny and a fantastic stage man, one of the best.

Yes, then they had a similar scene on _Grace & Favour (Are You Being Served? Again!)_ where they interviewed musical talent.

Peacock doesn't have bags under his eyes, he's got pillow cases.

Though what's wrong with everyone knowing that Capt Peacock was once a corporal in the British Army ? After all, many officers have "come up thru the ranks" as it were. No shame is once being a lowly private, corporal, etc. It's one's overall service record that counts, eh what ??
I suspect that Corporal Peacock didn't 'come up' thru the ranks but the title of Captain was self-imposed - I think this is what was being implied by Mr. Goldberg.

I can still watch this after over 40 years, and still find this as funny as the first time I seen it. Must admit that they should have never replaced Mr Grainger as they were never as good as Mr Grainger, but it was still enjoyable anyway...
His wife died, so he quit acting. Then he died 2 months later. They replaced him because they had no choice really.
It Pays To Advertise was his last show. He died 6 weeks after his wife, in Sept. Of 1972. She had been sick for a while and his last episodes he was suffering from depression. They had been married for over 50 years.
He died April 1978, not September 1972
