People saying this is just a copy of the original UK version and the acting is bad need to understand back in the 70s early 80s there was no internet, online shopping, or UA-cam. So many Australians never saw the original series unless they went to the UK.
Before people criticise it's certainly impossible to replacate the beloved original cast of are you being served apart from John ingman It's just like movie remakes I only watch the original because it's hard to replacate the magic of the original magic Cheers Stephen 🤠✌️ 🍀
Unsurprisingly, John Inman carries the entire show, (and is the only one to get any applause when first appearing), with all the others playing the respective parts being mere facsimiles of the originals.
@@MaskedMan66 But they _are_ the same characters. They even look the same, have the same mannerisms and even the same lines written taken straight out of the UK version. Mrs. Crawford = Mrs. Slocombe Captain Wagstaff = Captain Peacock Miss Buxton/Miss Nicholls = Miss Brahms Mr. Mankowitz = Mr. Grainger (with some characteristics of Mr. Goldberg) Mr. Randel = Mr. Lucas/Mr. Spooner Mr. Cocker = Mr. Mash/Mr. Harman Mr. Dunkley/Mr. Fenwick = Mr. Rumbold Young Mr. Bone = Young Mr. Grace
well let's not blame the other actor for that - Inman was the commoditiy on the show- the forerunner to all the aweful sitcom where we lose 5 minutes or so of the actual story telling as we have to wait for unearned applause as chachi and and the fonz to come out
@@MaskedMan66 You've kind of debunked your own assertion there. The fact that this is a pale imitation, (lasting 2 series and 2 years), of the original, (which lasted 10 series and 13 years), should be enough for anyone to differentiate those who possess a sense of humour and those who don't. *eggroll*
It's almost as if Lloyd and Croft just pulled out a copy of the 1979 script penciled out the UK cast then added the Aussie cast and characters names then photocopied them then gave them out to the cast.
Not 'almost'. It's exactly what they did. That's also the reason why Croft and Lloyd and no-one else are credited as the creators when the opening tune starts. If it was a complete rewrite, they would also have credited the writers of the new script. All series are one on one copies, with some parts being either added or left out of the performance.
I think it was an idea from Lloyd and Croft to bring the show to Australia, with only Inman joining them on this stint. Perhaps the other original cast members were either occupied, reluctant, or in any other way unable to join the adventure.
Simply Awesome
Loved this show. The UK version. Sorry to say the Australian version doesn't work .
I wonder how often Inman slipped up and called these actors by the original character names.
this is my first time watching the Australia/Down Under for are you being served! it is Funny! i have seen all of the UK version! :)
❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂 Loved this show too first is the UK then this. UK very funny true. I Like Australia too cause John Imani is in it love him.

You "watch the original because it's lost its magic?"
This is the original cast.

But they aren't playing the same characters; didn't you notice the names were different?

Anyone know why Inman did this?
