My husband and I never went on holiday without some Cure cassettes in the car. Later we always had our Cure CD’s in the car. He died 10 years ago, but he lives on in the mind of this 78 year old whenever I listen to our favourite Cure songs.

No one can hate someone as humble, as human, as genuine, as honest as Robert Smith.
He is my neighbour and I had a long improvised chat with him, not knowing who he was and yes he was lovely, genuine and authentic😊

When I was about 10, I was in a skateboard shop in High St Kensington and Robert came in with the band.

There is not enough words that could ever explain how much Robert Smith and the cure has given me through their music over the years. They have helped me through many dark and trying times. At 56 they are still my all time favorite band. I have seen them many times live from the early 80s and onward. I have been fortunate enough to pass them on to my children and many friends over the years.. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE GIVEN US!!!!

I can hardly afford to go and watch any good bands, the prices are so ridiculously overpriced that I can't and won't pay it. The Cure try hard that their fans can afford to see them live. They let the fans watch their concert from home (for the ones who couldn't be there live) via live stream and I was so thankful for feeling I was celebrating with them yesterday evening ❤

Robert Smith(again and again, and again and again, and again and again), shows the world he is a great artist, not just a pop artist, but a tremendous ARTIST. Starting from "Alone" - for me it is the dark twin of Boy's Don't Cry song, in therms of the meaning for today's world and also the right perception of today's zeitgeist. I got so emotional connected with "Alone" that I could only resume listening the album yesterday, and I can tell you with all my heart, soul and mind, it is a masterpiece. EndSong was so intense, that I'll have to wait a couple of days to listen again the full album. This album is beside Faith, Disintegration, Faith, Pornography, 17 Seconds, Blood Flowers. It's beyond words can express.
Disintegration (1989) is an absolute masterpiece 🙏 one of the greatest albums of the 80’s and there were so many.

I’m sure I’m not alone - but I wasn’t there when my mother passed away, it was COVID year and although she died of old-age at 97, we weren’t allowed to visit the care-home.
She was suffering dementia and for 5 years she didn’t even know who we were (her children) but still, the promise we made her was broken.
Saddest time of my life.
At 71, I empathize with a lot that Robert says in this interview, as one gets older, we start to think about things, life, love and whatever in a different way, much of it to do with the inevitable “count-down” of our own existence, not in a sad way necessarily, it’s quite enlightening, to be honest.
Love The Cure and this interview, hats off to Robert (and the interviewer) for braving almost 2 hours, for our enjoyment.

True..so many of the Cures songs are like mysterious , intriguing Chopin Nocturnes..atmospheric.
This interviewer did a good job letting the artist speak, and that is something too many interviewers fail to do. It's hard to not just adore Robert Smith & I've never been a goth, I just respected, valued, and appreciated his vulnerability and realness, and the band is an excellent ensemble of talent. It's so rare in the world to encounter an individual who is just a decent human being with a fairly well-calibrated moral compass, and most especially in the music industry.
Ugh, the tediousness of having to put up with all the pathological narcissism, sociopathy, and the ruthlessly greed-driven psychopathy that is so common (to the point of being pedestrian) in the music business and the "entertainment" industry, in general. It's leave a decent person starving for someone...anyone...like Robert Smith who's just a decent human being AND also creative, talented, and still grateful for his good fortune in this lifetime. Bah, I'm waffling...
Thank you for posting this interview! Should you ever decide to tour the US again, I know your American audience will be THRILLED! If not, I suppose I'll have to give up the good weather and sunshine of California, and drag myself back over to London to see the band perform live.
