My husband and I never went on holiday without some Cure cassettes in the car. Later we always had our Cure CD’s in the car. He died 10 years ago, but he lives on in the mind of this 78 year old whenever I listen to our favourite Cure songs. Thank you Robert for the soundtrack of my life.

This is a true reflection of how profound The Cure and their music are and how little power most artists have, or care. Once most artists become a “business” the creativity and DNA are NEVER the same and RARELY better.

1:11:57 This brought a tear 😪 I’m sure I’m not alone - but I wasn’t there when my mother passed away, it was COVID year and although she died of old-age at 97, we weren’t allowed to visit the care-home. She was suffering dementia and for 5 years she didn’t even know who we were (her children) but still, the promise we made her was broken. Saddest time of my life. At 71, I empathize with a lot that Robert says in this interview, as one gets older, we start to think about things, life, love and whatever in a different way, much of it to do with the inevitable “count-down” of our own existence, not in a sad way necessarily, it’s quite enlightening, to be honest. Love The Cure and this interview, hats off to Robert (and the interviewer) for braving almost 2 hours, for our enjoyment. Greetings and love from Romania ❤️🇷🇴
I can't believe just how wonderful a person he is - so witty, intelligent, knowledgeable, principled and honest while coming across vulnerable at the same time. First saw The Cure twice in '81 - They were such a big part of the soundtrack to my teenage years. Can't wait for the new album ❤❤❤
Curtis, 58, American from San Diego. I discovered.. adopted The Cure a little late. Now.. a huge huge fan. The depth, the thoughtful lyrics, the riffs, the evolution. From A Forest to Pictures of You.. it means a lot to me.

This interviewer did a good job letting the artist speak, and that is something too many interviewers fail to do. It's hard to not just adore Robert Smith & I've never been a goth, I just respected, valued, and appreciated his vulnerability and realness, and the band is an excellent ensemble of talent. It's so rare in the world to encounter an individual who is just a decent human being with a fairly well-calibrated moral compass, and most especially in the music industry. Ugh, the tediousness of having to put up with all the pathological narcissism, sociopathy, and the ruthlessly greed-driven psychopathy that is so common (to the point of being pedestrian) in the music business and the "entertainment" industry, in general. It's leave a decent person starving for someone...anyone...like Robert Smith who's just a decent human being AND also creative, talented, and still grateful for his good fortune in this lifetime. Bah, I'm waffling... Thank you for posting this interview! Should you ever decide to tour the US again, I know your American audience will be THRILLED! Sinking is my favorite Cure song. ~ I am slowing down As the years go by ~ hits harder at 53 than when i first heard it at 14. I can't imagine my life without The Cure. Thank you, Robert.
One apsect I find really inspirational in Robert is how he continually assesses and re-assesses his life and his perceptions. Robert, while modest and shy, has a high-functioning self-awareness and superego (sense of self). His music is approached in exactly this way, it's a personal expression of the things or events or people that matter to him. Robert is in so many ways a really substantial artist. He connects with people through his work and his personality, and is one of the most inspirational people I can relate to. Great interview.
I relate to Robert in that I was born in Dec. 1959 so lived through the same historical and musical touchpoints. Great interview. Saw the Cure in 2023 in Toronto. You could feel the love coming from the crowd and Robert seemed to really appreciate it, he seemed visably moved and as always quite humble.
Robert is such a talented and gentle soul and he has certainly made his mark on so many people’s lives, myself included, thank you Robert for being everything you are, X.
We all know that Robert Smith is one of the great artists in pop music, but this interview also demonstrates that he is what I would call a beautiful soul.
As a South African, when I saw The Cure perform live in 2019 in Johannesburg, a dream I'd had for 40+ years was realised. Then, seeing them again last year at the Hollywood Bowl was unreal. Mind completely blown! I never even dreamt I would see them once, let alone twice. All I can say is, if The Cure ever came back to South Africa, it would be unbelievable and totally amazing! So Robert, please come back! 😘🙏
When I was a kid he was in his twenties and he says when he is 30 he will be too old to perform and here we are, a self confident Robert Smith fully engaged, this interview is the triumph, and the music is even more awesome. Cheers.
Imagine if the earliest formative versions of The Cure had found a "good" lead singer. Robert would never have reluctantly taken on the role himself and we would never know his voice, music, words and soul. I have been listening to The Cure from the late 80's onwards and his voice is absolutely stunning, then and now. There has been no one like him before and no singer has come close since. There are other great singers, of course, but his voice resonates to the core of my heart and body. I am sure that scientific studies would prove this, but I don't need any proof. On my first listen of Alone his voice had me in tears immediately, the music perfectly guiding me to the point of emotional, cathartic release. Alone also seems to perfectly sum up the state of the world we live in at the moment. When Bowie died people said that they were glad to have been alive and accompanied by his songs. I am so grateful that the emotional soundtrack to my life was provided by Robert and The Cure.
Thank you Robert and the band. I saw you in the 90s in Germany and will never forget the awesome 3 hour show. I can't believe what I'm seeing now is just as good if not better. Great show and the livestream.
I can listen to Robert Smith for hours on end and he makes me feel like I'm in a Lullaby State of mind The Greatest Band Ever to be on this planet Earth THE CURE !!
once at a concert in holland robert walked by and stood still just enjoying the sight of me and my friend enjoying the pre show, i felt seen, appreciated, (and unashamed which is rare for me) and i write this to show my appreciation thank you.
Dear The Cure, thank you for the gift of your music. You have touched my life in a way I cannot even describe. (I’m getting emotional just thinking about it.) Much love and deepest appreciation from South Florida, USA. ❤️🧿❤️🧿
Have loved this man since I was 16 and now I'm 55. I pray I'll meet him one day and pray even more that the old saying, 'never meet your heroes' doesn't apply to him, as I would be heartbroken if he was rude to me ❤️
He seems to have held it together as a level headed decent person. There was a time before and after the Phonography era that he might of not of been so pleasant to interact with and he says as much about that stage in his life. Look up the MTV interview with Nina Blackwood to see what I am referring to. I hope you get your chance someday to find out.
Can’t stop commenting hahaha, this was very generous of Robert, he’s not one for interviews and I’m so grateful that he gave us this. There were so many moments in this where I realized I’m not weird OR I am but at least I’m in good company. Thanks Robert ❤

Thank you for doing your bit to stop greed, inequality and monetization.
Bravo.
I just LOVE him. And The Cure in general obviously. But most of all I adore Robert. He's such an amazing, brilliant and kind person.
It's amazing how much he remembers about his songs and the things that inspired each one. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.
One hour, forty minutes and it is still not enough .. humble, lovely person.
I’ve never clicked on a video faster! Love The Cure and can’t wait for this album!
mee too 😂... I saw Roberts face on my UA-cam home page and broke the sound barrier clicking on it.
I love this man since the 80s. He has never let his fame go to his head and still so down to earth.
What a legend ! How can you not love him and respect his music ❤️
When I was a kid he was in his twenties and he says when he is 30 he will be too old to perform and here we are, a self confident Robert Smith fully engaged, this interview is the triumph, and the music is even more awesome. Cheers.
The cure is and will always be the best band ever ❤️ 💛 ✨️ 😊
Certainly one of them.
The Beatles, The Cure and Pavement, no other.
Oh Mr. Smith, you could never play too long! I would stand at a show for hours and hours and hours and hours!
Remedies for a lost world: honesty, integrity, modesty, empathy, vulnerability, playfulness, humour, intelligence, imagintion, creativity...
You said it!⚡️
No Greed, that's the most important for me. Greed is the thing that's most horrible in this new world we live in.
The source of all problems, really.
I love this guy. I wish we heard him speak more often.
Could listen to Robert talk all day and night. What a true gem he is.
Still making great music. Still true to self. Still contemporary...smashes the myth of agesim and quality music...still a legend.
Thank you Robert and the band. I saw you in the 90s in Germany and will never forget the awesome 3 hour show. I can't believe what I'm seeing now is just as good if not better. Great show and the livestream.
Gorgous...his voice is so calm n gentle....the Cure forever❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can listen to Robert Smith for hours on end and he makes me feel
like I'm in a Lullaby State of mind
The Greatest Band Ever to be on this planet Earth
THE CURE !!
I could listen to Robert talk for hours. His brutal, humble honesty is very admiring.
once at a concert in holland robert walked by and stood still just enjoying the sight of me and my friend enjoying the pre show, i felt seen, appreciated, (and unashamed which is rare for me) and i write this to show my appreciation
thank you.
The greatest composer since Chopin, an absolute genius
Pathetic af 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Over the years Robert still the same brilliant, honest, simple, with a unique talent, that, we all the fans love, we will be your fans until end of life, love you Robert Thank you for make my days much better.
