I just did a 2300 mi road trip in my 4WT Silverado EV. I can verify at EA and EV go I could add 150kw in 40 min and my best was 188kw (10-96%) in 59 minutes. Charges at 350-370 for a few minutes then settles at 300kw for a long time. at 90% and above it will still pull 60kw. at 70-75mph I could go 350mi safely between charges and at 80mph in 30 degree weather 320 was about it. I never let it get below 10%. Super impressed with the truck.

Have you had your truck of road (or at least a deeply rutted or steep incline decline)? There is a video on Motor Trend when they compare it to the Rivian RT1 that has me very concerned. I know I only hit roads like that 2-3 time a year and it its only a few sections, but....... Of course dealers will not let you take a truck test drive "off road." Putting my purchase on hold until I can get a better idea of limitations.

I have watched a ton of videos on this truck's Midgate. I just got my own and the seatbelts getting out of the way as well as the effect of the tonneau cover in keeping you dry and your cargo dry are things that no other video has mentioned. Great job for catching these little details as they make massive differences between marketing and practicality.

Good review. I have watch most of the reviews from 2 years ago through today. I own the Sierra EV. I love it.
From my perspective I have noticed several items.
The google system is a little glitchy from time to time.
It takes a while to connect to the internet so that may be some of the problems.
I owned a Bolt EV before this truck from 2017. I also drive a suburban.
I haven’t noticed any difference on the drive with 4 wheel steering. Except I can park a little crooked because of the 4 wheel steering. lol
Maybe because I drove the bolt and the turning is about the same?
I find the handling is great at 9600lbs. It’s better than my 2021 burb high country. Even fast around curves. Doesn’t feel
Like that heavy of a truck to me.
Towing seems to be the same with heavy loads or light loads. I towed 6k or 1200 lbs trailers and got the same 230-250 miles. As well as real world UA-cam videos that get 240-250 miles with heavy loads.
Thanks for the review good job.

1st Edition Sierra Denali owner here.. I am perplexed on why you would compare the Sierra to Rivian. A Rivian is a midsize pickup, similar to a Tacoma. If you want to draw fair comparison you got the Lightning and the Cybertuck until other full-size EV pickups hit the market

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  Місяць тому +1

It's tricky because although the Rivian doesn't hit as many kW into the pack, it's higher efficiency means that for 30 minutes of charging you'll go about the same distance.

@@AAutoBuyersGuide That’s not true. Rivian says 140mi in 20 min, Sierra can do 200mi in 20min. Actually it holds the curve so long it’s close to 300mi in 30min. Look at Out of Spec Reviews channel’s charging curve data for the Silverado…particularly the 70mph highway range added per minute of charging. In 30min Rivian added 200mi and Silverado 290ish. Chev/GMC blows away the Rivian, they’re not playing on the same playground. It seems like some Rivian bias here, it can’t compete with GM charging. Travis, do you own a Rivian by chance?

The cargo versatility with the mid gate is awesome, so is the on board 120 and 240v AC power. I wish these features were available on something of a smaller package... like the colorado or even something as small as the original S10. Even a 'first gen' Colorado size EV truck would be great as a daily, efficient, and could tow a good amount. I'm thinking landscape equipment, motorcycle, a small pop-up camper etc. It sucks that these big tanks are the only thing really selling right now.

Now for EV versions of the Canyon and the Colorado and with a frunk up front which is an excellent convenience in a pickup truck. I love my pickups but not having a trunk is always a trade off when you buy something valuable that you need to hide and you’re not going straight home to unload it. Frunks in pickups solve a century old problem. I’m looking forward to having one, one day when the right product comes along.

Well I still prefer the the charging location but I went to a City in Northern California last week and sure enough they had several curbside chargers in their small downtown.
