I grew up with a poor mindset. Everybody around me had the same mindset as I was growing up. To this day, I don't know anyone who has a rich mindset. Thank goodness for the internet because if not for it, I think I wouldn't even know about the different mindsets around money.
Just subscribed to you today and this video is outstanding. I like your energy and wisdom. In my 68 years, I never learned any of these ideas from my parents, schools, church, employers. I was often shamed for my money mistakes and told to make better choices. I am a man with autism - diagnosed at 60 and I also grew up with internalized shame and untreated depression. Doing better emotionally today, but I have no faith in the 'traditional' institutions of society any more.
Totally agree love her energy too!
Rose…remember last year when we got scammed by people impersonating you? As you know, we are an older couple, and we got scammed out of our entire their life savings. What I don’t get is, Rose, you KNEW it was going on and did nothing. It was a very elaborate con, so we put it all on rosehanscam for all to see- It’s very sad that you didn’t do a thing to protect us all. Why didn’t you take responsibility? Rose…why? You were kind at first, but then you got defensive once you saw that it was truly your fault for not letting everyone know…and then you ghosted us.
You’re truly the healed, finance savvy big sister I never had. Thank you so so much for your heart centered medicine and magic. It’s life changing!
Amen to that! highly agree :D
Yes! Stop listening to ppl in your life that are not where you want to be. Thank you! I feel so validated! 💕.
Don't make investments based on a UA-cam video, I learned that the hard way.
🤣🤣
So did we!!

I love how you balance the real-talk with empathy. Such a unique gift! ❤
One way to avoid most car breakdowns is to have a full vehicle inspection every few months. That way the problems are caught ahead of time.
Having a car is sometimes unnecessary and if a person doesn't make much money, it's smarter to take public transportation.
"unexpected" expenses... They really aren't are they? 😉 I love that. Christmas happens every year AND is not an emergency.
Lol yup 🤪
Beautiful video! I'm glad it mentioned the Christmas holidays because so many people are ill-prepared for the holidays then spend the holidays complaining that everything is "too expensive" for them.
Also foolish is when people have spent themselves into deep debts, have little or no expendable income and become bitter or resentful toward those who are in better shape financially.
I've come to realize that money is a tool. I’ve worked so hard over the years to realize that if you don’t make money work for you, you can’t experience true freedom. fully retired with over $3.5million, my dividends is supplementing my retirement at the moment. started saving and investing in 2010 in growth, No regrets and financially free
You're really doing well for yourself, my retirement plans are going down the drain, I've tried investing in the stock market several times but always got discouraged by fluctuations of stock value
Will recommend you speak with *Jenny Pamogas Canaya,* she will assist you
thanks for sharing, hope to speak with her soon. I've known I've wanted to start investing for a few months but just haven't been brave enough to start due to the market so far this year. but its hard to bite the bullet and do it.
I recently had the pleasure of watching *Jenny Pamogas Canaya* on television, and I must say she is an exceptional speaker. However, I'm curious to know if you have experienced any financial gains while working with her?
Hahahahahaha scammer thread 😂
The only debt I have is TAXES!!!!
So pay ya taxes u tax evader!!!
You have to have an income that is much greater than the taxes that are owed - at every bracket. Your income should make it easy to pay your taxes, and being in tax debt is a huge red flag that you aren't making good financial decisions.
@@vaderwashere365 Maybe!!

You could move to a deserted island and not pay anything 😅😅😂
I think another silent trap for people just getting into "adulthood" is trying to obtain everything they see their Parents with. Sometimes young adults don't realize what it took for their Parents to do "better" in life. Their journeys aren't acknowledged...they just see them with a nice house, nice cars, and maybe going on vacations....so the Young adult thinks they are going to accomplish the same thing right out of the gate and often sack themselves with a lifestyle that they can't really afford just because their Parents are doing it.
I have 2 adult children and I want the absolute best for them, but I also try to explain the progression and that most people accomplish things over time..and that's ok.
That's so true! And don't even get me started about credit cards. Glad you're making your kids aware, I'm sure these nuggets of money wisdom you share with them are going to help them a lot!
This is a great list! I believe the biggest one is "Stop normalizing debt". I listen to Dave Ramsey a lot, and I'm always surprised at how many people call in and have 6 figure debt levels and they act like it's no big deal. "Hey Dave, I have $250k in student loans, $50k in credit card debt, should I take out a HELOC in order to renovate my home?". They are not at all worried by the staggering level of debt they have - and they should be.
Agree, irresponsible people take out debt/loans irresponsibly. Just know Dave is on the extreme. Almost everyone who becomes wealthy or is wealthy has a credit card... they just pay it off every month. Almost every successful business and any wealthy person has taken out a substantial loan before. For many of the people that need Dave's help, this is a death sentence. However, it is just what almost every wealthy person does because they are responsible.
I knowww it's shocking :( I blame it on credit card companies and loan companies that have huge marketing budgets, whereas nothing is taught in schools about how debt works. Dave Ramsey is on the extreme "no debt" spectrum of things but there's a lot of value in that mindset. Personally I think debt is ok if used responsibly (i.e. you spend intentionally and pay off your card every month, you have a mortgage on a reasonably-sized home, etc.), but that's a big IF!
Responsibly handled debt makes you rich (Investment Real Estate, Business). I haven't met any "WEALTHY" people without a lot of debt.
@@Rhinozzzz Sure, but you also meet the poorest people with a lot of debt too.
Also, I would add stop eating out regularly to this list. The cost of eating out at even an average restaurant is outrageous. On special occasions is okay but not regularly.
This is true, that is an easy way to spend way more money than you should, also drinking.
By the way, did you know Rose did not care when her followers got scammed out of thousands? Best be careful:

Love her wisdom, energy, common sense and how she analyzes who influences you from growing up. She points out the key to be organized and not ignore your debts and taking control of your finances. She is so right not to listen to others who are not experienced nor skilled in finances. People tend to listen to others and feel like failures because of the negativity, when they can just turn their situations around just owning themselves and starting to organize themselves day by day and learning from people like Rose Han. Thank you for this! I needed to hear this during this time. God bless you Miss Han!
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. I learned a lot and I did have a problem with buying things I can't afford. I know it is so normalized nowadays to buy something off credit but I'll need to unlearn that thought!!! Finding good mentors and inner circle of quality wealthy people is important too and I know I can find them!! Thank you Rose!
You're definitely one of my mentors now. lol

Wow!! So can you be my mentor as well!!!
If yes, can I borrow $10 so that I can feed my hunger?
Really glad I started following you! The knowledge is so needed and so appreciated. Thank you Rose 🌹
Thank you Rose for this video! I have been practicing saving 25% of my income for purchases vs going into debt and I have a lot saved up. The only debt I have is a car loan and I own my home outright. Everything turned around for me when i started budgeting and really looking at what I was spending my money on. Looking forward to more videos from you!

I believe so too.. personally I was able to grow my finances and assets due to personal insight. I saw the opportunities the market space presented and took advantage of them. I’ve been inclined with a portfolio manager and Fixed income planner in the USA.

To quote bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman: "Everybody wants to look like a bodybuilder, nobody wants to lift those heavy-ass *weights!*" Getting rich often just takes self-discipline, and unfortunately that's something a LOT of people don't have.
And “light weight!” Me and my bro used to say that in the gym constantly.
Haven’t heard that quote in years!!!
@@amberforosisky2513 I’m bringing it back! Jk we just said it to make fun of ourselves because it really wasn’t a lot of weight usually.

Your advise is focused on Financial only and there is more to a successful life than money, need to expand life's focus by concentrating on Physical, Financial, & Intellectual goals, they all pay off. Life is better when you are physically fit. Life is better when you are financially secure. Life is better when you have skills and capabilities to handle life's problems. Above all, ask yourself continually throughout your life "What can I do to improve my situation", a little self analysis on problems and solutions goes a long way.
Hey Rose. Thank you for reteaching these five great tips! I agree 💯 that our society encourages debt and false prosperity. Over the years, I have improved the way I handle and spend money; but I want to learn more and do better. ~Myra

I didn't grow up wealthy, noir do I have a degree. Basically I worked my but off, took advantage of my opportunities and skills by using the internet as a tool for making money. But most importantly I lived with bare minimum to get head. I was able to save tremendously and live comfortably. I've told friends and family along the way of my plans and they ignored me. Only people with gocus and drive will continue to be successful. Even with inherited wealth. If you lack discipline you're still going to lose.

A caveat is that family who are financially successful achieved that in a different world than 2023. So what they recommend worked for them but is not applicable today, so they don't know how to advise us for 2023.
That's an interesting point... it's not just bad money advice being passed down but also OUTDATED money advice. Thank you for pointing that out!
@@itsrosehanit was A LOT easier to buy a house in 1983 that cost $150K than it is to buy a house that is $1 million in 2023. That is how much my parent's house is valued at now. They bought it for $150K in 1983.
Great tips! Thank you!

Great content like always and yes you are right., Here in Europe we do buy most things paying cash. This credit card culture is not very common here and I think it is a good thing.
Getting in consumer debt ist the worst thing you can get into. Interest rates on consumer credits are a total rip-off and the basical mindset of many people here (i am from Germany) is "if you can't pay for it in cash, you can't afford it".
I love your content, Rose.

from my own experience as someone living in the Middle Europe, so many people live in debt here as well... it might look slightly different because usually there are no student loans but mortgages, leasing, gear or even holiday debts are a pretty common standard situation... I think, people in general lack financial education, that is why I appeciate what you do so much! thanks!
I find it helps to keep a financial calendar of those regular annual or quarterly expenses, so that they don't catch me unawares. Plus a wee fund to cover unexpected ones that turn up out of the blue.
That’s been huge for me & I don’t hear it talked about enough. I would forget things like car registration, family birthdays etc. then I added a tab to my budget spreadsheet for these, and each month I check and make sure to account for these.

Hello Rose, I was in the military and the only available 401/investment was the TSP. I created a traditional and a Roth. How can I invest what is in the Roth? Thank you
Great talk love the part about the generation wealth or poverty. Also how you get everyone to not focus on the past but on what you can do now to improve your situation 👍
for us, it was education. people try and make education and loans the antithesis to building wealth these days, but they are an integral part in going from poor to wealthy. my wife and I went to a great in-state college and had to get loans and work throughout college. we got simple business degrees, but now own a couple homes, have our kids in various sports, and max out our 401K contributions every year. If college isn't an option, then I would recommend being a life-long learner. Poor mentality is saying "I can't do that" or "it is too late". Growth mindset and a wealthy mentality is "I want to learn that" or "the sooner I start, the sooner I can improve".
You forgot the 6th on this list- Self preserve your wealth and security.
If you have gotten far enough by working and putting yourself first and on where you're at financially, security safeguard your wealth and stop helping the same so call friends, family, peoples pleasing everyone and their mothers to not look bad. You're lending them "help money" subscribing to their wants but in reality not realizing you're "paying" them to keep them away until the cash faucet you supposed is turned off permanently, but they keep coming back for more cash that's unknowingly keeping you poor even months past after Christmas. Zero means zero.
First time to see you vid. I just love your ideas. ❤ personally, i also set aside money for occasions and soliciations. Lol. As someone working abroad, i know it’s possible to receive soliciations from organization/alma mater project. Small bucks here will be converted to a bigger money in my home country. If left unused, then it’s an extra savings for me.

Hi, thanks for sharing your ideas. They are very helpful. Could you make more videos in being a landlord?
Sure thing! I have a few rental property videos planned coming up :)
Hi from Australia just saw your video, you are so real and authentic Rose. I have some questions ..
How about if I prefer living in the room that does not share with others in a good environment as I want to have my own privacy to do my own stuff, experiment things as you said in another video and surround myself who can pay to live here but shared room with another will save more but no privacy at all. I mean the same room that you sleep but share the kitchen and others. Do you think it’s a big deal or just try to find they way to pay it because I choose it?
I needed to hear this… haven’t paid any credit card interest but I am tired of living on the hamster wheel
***I wasn't financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my third house already, earn on a monthly through passive income, and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone's that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing in the financial market is a grand choice I made.>

Very Good Rose!!!!!!!!
Rose, I am in debt, 200k from college loans at Oberlin, majoring in English Lit. Now I'm a barista at Starbucks and I see tough times paying it all back, given the interests I need to pay. Can you assist me ?
Hiya in your country do you pay it back after earning a specific amount? Or do you payback with any salary? Starbucks hourly pay?
@@smann7236I am in the USA; 13 dollars a hour. You pay back based on monthly timeframe....LIfe sucks in America...
First off, have you looked into student loan forgiveness programs? Like this one: studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service
Secondly, depending on how high the interest is, have you looked into student loan consolidation or refinancing? This only applies if your loans are high-interest.
Otherwise, it's just finding a way to move the career ladder or start a side hustle to make more income, and just pay it off the good old-fashioned way. When you have a lot of monthly cashflow, you'll find that you can pay down debt very very quickly, so it'll be very important to find ways to significantly increase your income!
@@itsrosehan yes I have delved into your suggestions. But: What do you think of just accepting the accruing debt then fleeing to a developing country(India?) at some point? I won't even say ethics aside because I find these institutions/lending services quite predatory and exploitative. the amount owed is unmanageable given the high cost of living, inflation and wage stagnation. Structural viewpoint-America with its 33 trillion in debt-means that my generation will endure slower growth while the debt needs to be repaid in the next 20 years. Things will get more expensive.
